Opal Orton Hicks
Opal Orton Hicks, 73, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday night, October 14, 2006, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness; battle with cancer.
She was a life-long resident of Sullivan Co., TN (Kingsport) She was retired from Quebecor World (Kingsport Press) with 42 years of service in the Repair Department. She was of the Baptist faith.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Robert and Georgia Mae McDavid Orton; her sister, Lois Marie Shivley and an infant brother and sister.
Surviving are her two daughters, Lenore Jean "Fields" Ford & husband Michael Eugene of Kingsport and Deborah Ann Hicks Salyer & husband Bud of Fall Branch; a granddaughter, Tammy Isner of Kingsport; four sisters, Pauline Newland of Church Hill, Ruth Spencer of Kingsport, Joyce Shelton of Kingsport and Sue Orton of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Hubert Orton of Church Hill and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends anytime at her daughter, Jean's home, 2429 Jennings Drive, Kingsport.
Calling hours are from 4:30 - 7 pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Pate, officiating. Music will be provided by Brenda Isaacs.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Vermont United Methodist Church, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be her family and friends.

Carolyn (Brummett) Clayman
Carolyn (Brummett) Clayman, 59, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at her daughters residence in Jonesborough, TN.
She was born in Bridgeport, AL. At age three she was placed in the Holston Home for Children in Greenville, TN and at age seven, she was adopted by the late Wiley H. and Trula Cunningham Brummett, which brought her to Kingsport.
Carolyn was employed by the Pro-Care Health Care for years as a CNA. She was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church.
Surviving is her husband of 43 years, Kyle Clayman of the home; three daughters, Ruth Frisel of Jonesborough; Kim Jones and husband Terry of Jonesborough and Diane Leonard and husband Greg of Bristol, VA; son, Chris Clayman of Greeneville; eleven grandchildren, William, Carrie, Jonathan, Noah, Jeb, Abbie and Edie Jones, Sarilyn and Jason Leonard and Malynne and Lauren Clayman; life-long friends, Clyde and Sheila Wilson; daughter-in-law, Vivian Clayman, many beloved brothers and sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Higher Ground Baptist Church, 1625 Lynn Garden Drive., Kingsport. A celebration of her going home will be conducted at 7 pm in the church with Dr. Phil Hoskins and Rev. Jim Crews, officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at the Fairview United Methodist Church cemetery, Jonesborough, TN. Pallbearers are Billy Kilgore, Jerry Kilgore, Buck Conant, Eddie Harlow, William Jones, Terry O. Jones, and Bob Parvin. Honorary Pallbearers are Clyde Wilson, Terry W. Jones, Jack Clayman, Dr. Brian Way, Gary Leonard, Dr. Chad Johnson, Rev. Boyce Sweat and Jason Leonard. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home by 1 pm.

Rita Winiecke
Kingsport - Rita Novak Winiecke, 83 of Kingsport, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Saginaw, Mich, she had lived in Oracle and San Manuel, AZ for several years, before moving to Kingsport two years ago, due to ill health. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother.
She is survived by her daughters: Barbara Flanary and Rosemary Lashua, both of Kingsport and a son, Raymond Winiecke and wife Joan of Medford, Oregon, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two brothers, Ralph Novak of Empire, Mich and Ben Novak of Chesaning, Mich, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
There will be no local services.

Lois Taylor
Mary Lois Phelps Taylor, 76, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Russell Co., VA and lived in Kingsport for over 55 years. She was a loving and precious Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was retired from the Kingsport City Schools with over 29 years of service, where she was a manager of Food Service for George Washington and Sevier Middle Schools. Lois was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church where she was active in the church choir. She also sang with the Andrews Gospel Quartet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Phelps and Cleo Wise Phelps and four sisters, Juanita Weddle, Geneva Davis, Ann Addison and Louise Phelps.
Surviving is her loving husband, James Taylor Jr. of the home; daughter, Wanda Robinson and special son-in-law, Don of Kingsport; son, Gary Taylor and special daughter-in-law, Linne McConnell Taylor of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Brent Robinson, Kevin Robinson and fiancé, Rachel Vaughn, Whitney Taylor Shelton and husband Ryan, and Mallory Taylor and fiancé, Andrew Allen; sister, Patsy Williams of Beckley, W.Va.; two brothers, Russell Phelps of Lenoir City, TN and Bobby Phelps and wife Elsie of Mt. Carmel, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4 - 6 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wayne Baker and Rev. Stanley Sims, officiating. Music will be provided by Pleasant News.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport. Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Johnson, Paul Ketron, J.R. Pratt, Orville Rogers, Russell Ferguson and Frank Waldo. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 1:55 pm..

Johnny Mack Bingham
Johnny Mack Bingham, 60, of Sid Martin Road in Gray, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at Greystone Healthcare Center following a long illness.
Born in Kingsport, Johnny had been a resident of Gray for most of his life. He was owner of Bingham Roofing, and was a member of Borings Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Beatrice Hite Bingham and a brother, Butch Bingham.
Surviving is his wife, Marlene Lane Bingham of the home; three daughters, Sharon Campbell and husband Fred of Limestone, Frankie Bingham and Amy Bingham of Kingsport; two sons, Jonathan Bingham of the home and Donnie Bingham of Kingsport; several grandchildren; father-in-law, Allen Lane of Gray; sister, Tina Bingham of Virginia; two brothers, Jimmy Bingham of Kingsport and Marvin Bingham of Roanoke, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 - 8 pm on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, October 6, 2006 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ed Davis, officiating. Music will be provided by the Norton Family.
Burial will follow in Snyder's Memorial Gardens, Kingsport with Military graveside services conducted by American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. Pallbearers will be Kevin Lane, Christopher Lane, Mike Lane, Tim Lane, Anthony Lane, and Gary Lane. Honorary Pallbearers are Ott Lane, Travis Lane, Larry Dove, Mike Lyons and Fred Campbell.

Hubert A. Long
Kingsport - Hubert A. Long, 86, of East Center Street, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning (April 5, 2006) at Indian Path Medical Center.
He was born in Knoxville and had lived in Florida for over 32 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He retired from Carlice Motor Company in Clearwater, Florida. He was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by a son, Junior Long and his parents, Adam Long and Mattie Cunningham Long.
Surviving are his wife, Mattie Lane Long of the home; one daughter, Jane Long Miller and husband Jarrell of Greeneville; one son, Rev. Freddrick Long and Judith Anna of Newport, TN; daughter in law, Sharon Long of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Kristi Long, Freddrick Long, Susan Hall, Karen Chapman, Tracy Frevold, and Todd Long; and twelve great grandchildren.
Graveside services only will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Holston View cemetery in Weber City, Va with the Rev. Judith Anna, officiating. The American Legion Posts #3 and #265 with Joe W. Byrd, Chaplain, in charge of the Military services.
Family and friends attending the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.

Randy McGrady
Randy McGrady, 51, of Kingsport, passed away suddenly on Sunday evening, October 1, 2006, after an apparent heart attack.
Randy was born in Kingsport and had lived here all of his life. He graduated from Ketron High School in 1973 and went to work at Eastman Chemical the Monday following graduation. He worked in the lab at Eastman for over 33 years. He was an active member of Celebration Church, was an avid tennis player, and an active member of M.E.T. A. Tennis Association.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Mollie Tipton Flynn and his paternal grandparents, DeWitt and Blanche Nichols McGrady.
Surviving is his son, Isaac McGrady; his parents, Bill and Gay Flynn McGrady of Kingsport; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy McMurray and husband Hugh of Bristol, TN; a brother and sister-in-law, Andy McGrady and wife Angela of Richmond, VA; three nieces, Julie McMurray, Nikki McGrady, and Samantha McGrady; two nephews, Drew McGrady and Hughie McMurray and wife Erin; a grand niece, Morgan McMurray; several aunts, uncles and cousins and a special friend, Maggie Maticorena.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Robert Russell. Music will be provided by Steve and Sheila Sproles.
Entombment services will be at 11 am on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Oak Hill Mausoleum, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be members of M.E.T.A., Rob Dandridge, Keith Mijeski, Dennis Smith, Michael Manis, Emmett Dougherty and Terry Ponder. It is requested that friends and family meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.

Ronald 'Spec' Caylor
KINGSPORT - Ronald Clayton "Spec" Caylor, 86, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2006, after a lengthy illness at Wexford House.
He was born in Wheeler, VA and had lived in Kingsport since 1960. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during WW II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of Masonic Lodge #208 A. F. & A. M. in Big Stone Gap, VA. He retired from Kroger Co. after over 35 years of service, where he was honored as "Man of the Year 1962".
He was a member of Litz Manor Baptist Church for over 46 years and was a Sunday school teacher.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Nancy Wolfe Caylor and a brother and sister in law, Rev. John W. and Mildred Rose Caylor.
Leaving behind his wife of 64 years, Mary Hash Caylor of the home; his son, Ronald C. Caylor of Jonesborough and friend Nancy Maddock; his daughter, Marilyn Caylor Adams and husband Thomas "Tom: E. Jr. of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Travis Stuart Adams of Murfreesboro, TN, Ronald Clayton "Clay" Caylor, III of Seattle, WA and Eppie Caylor Schoch and husband Dr. Brett Schoch of Hobe Sound, FL; a great grandson, Brayden Daniel Schoch of Hobe Sound, FL; his brother-in-law, Lloyd Hash of Kingsport along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Marvin Cameron and Pastor Bill Steele, officiating.
Military Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, VA. conducted by American Legion Hammond Post # 3 and Gate City Post #265 with Joe W. Byrd, Chaplain. Pallbearers will be Don Kilgore, Lowell Griffith, Allen Duffield, Ralph Anderson, Wayne McNew, and Bill Pierson. Honorary Pallbearers are Alvin Roberts, David Bishop and Harding Addington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Litz Manor Baptist Church, 1383 Dewey Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37664
