Della Mae Day
KINGSPORT - Della Mae Day, 72, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She had resided in Kingsport her entire life. She was a member of First Apostolic Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Lovell and Dona Necessary Lovell and a loving sister, Mary Helen Spears; two brothers, Elmer Lee Steffey and Marion Earl Steffey and an aunt, Ruth Necessary.
Survived are her son, John Lynn Day and wife Christy of Bristol, Va; three grandchildren, John Day, Andy Day, and William Day; a niece, Irma Bishop; three nephews, John Spears, Daniel Spears and David Spears along with several cousins.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2006, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tommy Benton, officiating. Music will be provided by Joyful Sounds.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, September 15, 2006 at Oak Hill cemetery, Kingsport. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery at 12:55 pm.

Johnny Ritchie Wright
Johnny Ritchie Wright, 57, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 1, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Norfolk, VA and had resided in Kingsport most of his life. He was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School Johnny served on the Board of Dogwood Terrace Residence Association, K.I.T.E. Executive Director, Legal Services of Northeast Tennessee, Roller Russ, Mayors Advisory Committee for the Handicapped, Kingsport Tomorrow, Kingsport Association for Visually Impaired, Salvation Army and American Vista Volunteer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Wiley Wright; his wife, Sendia; brother-in-law, Billie Hinkle; sister, Sharon Hinkle and niece, Amy Denise McClain.
He is survived by his two sisters, Edith Hinkle and Ruby Hensley and husband Max; special friends, Jilda Gilliam and Penny Wills all of Kingsport, many nieces and nephews along with many, many friends.
Calling hours are from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday, September 4, 2006, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Salley, officiating.
Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport. His family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Charles E. Hurd
Charles E. Hurd, 76, went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2006 at Brookhaven Manor Healthcare.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the Hurd Family cemetery with Rev. Walter Willis, officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. It is requested that friends and family meet at the cemetery at 12:55 pm
Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Hurd Family cemetery, Upkeep Fund, 1626 Echo Court, Kingsport, TN 37665

Frankie Carter
KINGSPORT - Frankie Bingham Carter, age 40 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and was previously employeed with Action Rentals. Frankie was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by, her mother, Doris (Amyx) Bingham and her grandfather, Frank H. Amyx.
She is survived by her husband, David M. "Porky" Carter of the home; daughter, Kellie Bingham and son Brent Sutherland both of Kingsport; grandchildren, Jasmine, Ethan and Cameron; sisters, Amy Carter and husband Scott of Church Hill, Angela Carico and husband Roy, Jamie East and husband Jamie and brother, Donnie Bingham and wife Shelia all of Kingsport; grandmother, Elsie Amyx of Kingsport; two loving aunts, Glenda Travis and Kathy Tate; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Larry McAmis officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shannon Carter, Scott Carter, Anthony Laughlin, Chad Amyx, Storm Dishner, Jeffrey Huff, Frankie Kiser and Kevin Barger
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Johnson City Medical Center and to Dr. Janet Drake.

Novella Christian Light
Kingsport - Novella C. Light, 79, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2006, at Wexford House after a brief illness.
Born in Hawkins County, (Church Hill), TN on May 10, 1927 to the late Ray and Jessie Armstrong Christian, Novella spent her adult life in Sullivan Co., TN and was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Light, Sr. in 1972 and a brother, Arlon Christian in 1980.
Surviving are two sons, Charles L. Light, Jr. of Kingsport and John David Light and wife Yong of Spokane, WA; a daughter, Shelby Sherfey of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Kristy Reed and husband Scott of Omaha, Neb., Donna Light of Spokane, WA, Jason Light and wife Sylvia of Spokane, WA, Shana Fanning and husband James of Kingpsort, and Travis Sherfey of Kingsport; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Devin Fanning of Kingsport and Carter and Emma Reed of Omaha, Neb.; three sisters, Maude Moody of Kingsport, Lura Gray and husband Bill of Church Hill and Earlene Barton and husband Bill of Surgoinsville along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday, August 21, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport or anytime at the home of her daughter, Shelby Sherfey, 205 Brooklawn Drive.
Services will follow at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stephen Burkhart, officiating. Music will be provided by Billy Gillespie.
Burial will follow at the East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport with Eddie King, Ron Salyer, Jim Hicks, Larry Moody, James Fanning and Anthony Gragg serving as pallbearers.

George E. Taylor, Jr.
Kingsport - George E Taylor, Jr., 76, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 14, 2006, at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, VA (Yuma) and had lived in Kingsport until 1956 when he moved to California. He returned to Kingsport in 1966. George was a retired boilermaker for the TVA. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and a member of the Kingsport Masonic Lodge F & AM #688 and the Shriners Club where he was a avid worker for the Jericho Shriner Club and Childrens Hospital Fund. He also spent many years transporting children to the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, SC
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Elmer Taylor, Sr. and Louise Richmond Taylor.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Hilton Taylor of the home, his son, David L. Taylor and wife Carol S. of Kingsport; his granddaughter, Jessica Laven Taylor of Kingsport; a sister, Jenette Taylor of Yuma, VA; and two nephews, Kevin Taylor and Timmy Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport with Pastor Allen Karnes and Rev. Don Large, officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Entombment services will be conducted by the Kingsport Masonic Lodge F & AM # 688 at 11 am Friday, August 18, 2006 at Oak Hill Mausoleum, Kingsport. It is reqeusted that family and friends meet at the cemeteyr at 10:55 am.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jericho Shriners Club (Transportation Fund), Blountville, TN or the Prospect United Methodist Church, Graveyard Mowing Fund, Yuma, VA .

Vicki Mullins
KINGSPORT - Vicki C. Cassidy Mullins, age 52 of Fairfield Avenue, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 14, 2006 at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. Vicki was a Christian for over 32 years and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church for over 8 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Robert Cassidy and Alma Kinkead Cassidy; her grandparents Tom and Myrtle Cassidy and Claude and Grace Kinkead.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor "Jim" Mullins of the home; sons, "Sam" Mullins and Tim Mullins and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Cassidy and Jacob Mullins; sisters, Barbara Grills and husband Wallace, Sandy Warrick, Rebecca Waldo and husband Frank all of Kingsport, Margaret Messick and husband Kenneth of Bowie, MD, Kathy Varner and husband Larry of Hiltons, VA, Eva Wright and husband Larry of Cleveland, TN; brother, Robert Cassidy of Kingsport; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday August 16, 2006 at Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Services will follow at 7:00 PM at the church with Rev. Jim Bishop and Rev. Clarence Bear officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday at Mill Creek Church cemetery with Rev. J. W. Depew officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Allen, David Brown, Larry Varner, Dick Brewster, Howard Light, Brian Waldo and Bobby Cassidy. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mill Creek Baptist Church, Attn: Building Fund, 449 Church Road Fall Branch, TN 37656.

John Bachetti, Jr.
Kingsport - John Bachetti Jr., 73 of Kingsport (formerly of New Milford for 49 yrs.) passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006.
Mr. Bachetti was born March 16, 1933, in Sheffield, MA, a son of the late John Sr. & Angelina Bachetti. He served in the Army in Japan during the Korean War and received Soldier of the month award in May of 1955. Mr. Bachetti was a Grand Chaplain for the Grand Lodge of CT and a Past Master of the Housatonic Masonic Lodge #61 F. & A.M., in Canaan.
He served as a Pastor of Gaylordsville Methodist Church from 1966-1971, during which time he helped build Sunday school rooms for the church and did the Youth Services. He was an interim Pastor at various Methodist and Congregational Church in the Northwestern CT area and a Justice of the Peace.
He attended North Adams State Teachers College and Western CT State College, where he earned his Masters in Education. For 20 plus years he taught at Sherman School, Special Ed, K-8th grade, Assistant, Acting Principal, Superintendent and also taught Adult Education. In 1973, he was chosen as the Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America. He was very active as Coach in Girls Basketball for Sherman and New Milford High School, where they won several championships. After retiring from teaching, he drove school buses for several years. He also served on the Board of Finance in New Milford. He moved to Tennessee to enjoy his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Libro, his twin brother Frank and Bruno.
He is survived by his son, Robert Bachetti of New Milford; a daughter, Lisa Bachetti Beyer and her husband Peter of Torrington; mother of his children, Carolyn Bachetti of New Milford; four grandchildren, Raven Bachetti (North Carolina), Jaime Brown (Torrington), Robert John Jeffrey (Sandy Hook)and Cory Bachetti (Tennessee); his three brothers, Art Bachetti, Massimo Bachetti both of Sheffield, MA and Louis Bachetti of Somers, CT; many nephews, nieces and several great nephews and nieces.
During his time in TN, he was cared for by Lisa Bachetti Kunz and her husband Donald.
A private prayer service was held and a Memorial service will be held at a later date.
