Barbara Feathers
BLOUNTVILLE - Barbara Jean (Poore) Feathers, 73 of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 11, 2006 at Bristol Hospice House following a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. Mrs. Feathers was previously employed at Massey's One Hour Cleaners for several years and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. She was a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church and attended Cedar Creek Baptist and Celebration Church. Her faith was strong in the Lord and she never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Clarence Poore, Sr. and Annie Mae Britt Poore; a sister, Gladys Jane Gross and an infant brother, William Poore Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Bledsoe and husband Jack, Dianne Jobe and husband Tony all of Kingsport, Karen Fox and husband Alan and Paula Broadwater and husband Mike all of Blountville; son, Jackie Mohlar and Shirley Martin of Kingsport; grandchildren, Brittany Fox, Tony Jobe, Mary Bledsoe, Molly Bledsoe, Amanda Jobe, Zachary Fox and Robin Fox; sister, Katherine Shaffer of Gray; special friends, Connie Wilson, Tina Hinkle, Everette and Evona Mullins and Teresa Bellamy; a special family, the Glen Bowman Family; special great niece, Kaydee Shaffer; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM on Sunday August 13, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jackie Bradley and Pastor Stewart Albee officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Jackie Bradley, Virginia and Kaydee Shaffer.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens, Blountville, TN. Pallbearers will be Tony Jobe, Mike Broadwater, Jack Bledsoe, Alan Fox, Bob Shaffer, Glen Bowman, Pat Shaffer and David Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be James "Bud" Gross, Dwayne Smith and Steve Crawford. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Hospice House, 280 Steele Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Bristol Hospice House, Dr. Charles Bolick, Greystone Healthcare and Pastor Stewart Albee for his care and devotion this past year.

Wayne Pressley, Sr.
KINGSPORT - William Wayne Pressley, Sr., age 62 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Sunbridge Hillside Manor Healthcare. He was born in Hawkins County and had lived in Kingsport for several years. He was a 1961 graduate of Lynn View High School and later graduated from college. He was retired, having worked as a school teacher at Bell Ridge Elementry, Brendle's Department Store for over 18 years and Lowe's for over 9 years. He was a member of Gravely Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Sue Hammonds Pressley; his parents, William C. Pressley and Audrey Roberts Marcum; his step-father, George Marcum and his sister Peggy Marcum.
He is survived by his daughters, Christie Ward and husband Tony of Church Hill and Angela Robinette and husband Jamie of Kingsport; son, Wayne Pressley, Jr. and wife Susan of Kingsport; step son, Eddie Hammonds of Kingsport; grandchildren, Junior Robinette, Amber Smith, Jamie Robinette, Dakota Robinette, Star Robinette and Tyler Peters; half-brothers, Jimmy Marcum and wife Linda of Kingsport and David Marcum and wife Kim of Blountville.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM, Monday August 7, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be held at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Salley and Rev. Keith Gamble officiating. Music will be provided by Eligah Woods.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:30 PM Tuesday at Oak Hill cemetery with Pastor Mike Stout officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:25 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gravely Baptist Church, 500 Gravely Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.

Angela Estep
KINGSPORT - Angela Rebecca Hite Estep, age 40 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and was of the Holiness faith.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie Ray Estep of Kingsport; daughter, Mikayla Jean Estep of the home; sons, Frank John Fonseca, Sr. and Jordan Ray Estep; parents, Vincent Hite and Sylvia Smith Necessary, father of her son, Frank John Fonseca, Jr.; sister, Christina Shaffer and husband Stephen; step-Mother, Regina Drennen all of Kingsport; special friends, James Lee Dockery of Kingsport and Bobbie Carver of Bluff City; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday August 2, 2006 at Old Kingsport cemetery with Rev. Charles Kilborne officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those who wish to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 PM.
Friends may call anytime, after the graveside service, at the residence of Frank John Fonseca, Sr. at 1426 E Center Street, Kingsport, TN.

Ava Steffey

KINGSPORT - Ava Marie Trivett Steffey, 92, formerly of East Sevier Avenue, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, July 29, 2006 after suffering with Alzheimer's for the past 10 years.
Born in Russell County, VA she was the daughter of the late Charlie Trivett and Maudie Kiser Trivett and had been a resident of Kingsport since 1927. Mrs. Steffey enjoyed walking at the Fort Henry Mall, shopping at the mall and eating at Piccadilly. She was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, and enjoyed listening to gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Steffey in 1982, a daughter, Iris Coleen Shutes in 2003 and a brother, Vernon Trivett in 1983.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Huey Ramsey of Kingsport; son-in-law, Roy Shutes of California; grandchildren, Colin Shutes of California, Brent Shutes of Germany, Fred Shutes of California, Mickey Ramsey and Teneva Phillips of Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Derek Phillips, Cameron Phillips, Stefan Shutes, Steven Shutes, Jeremy Shutes, Phillip Shutes, Shaun Shutes, Nicholas Shutes, Dakota Shutes, Dallas Shutes and Christiana Shutes; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM, Monday July 31, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bishop G. D. Peters and Pastor David Peters officiating. Music will be provided by the Christian Family.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Oak Hill cemetery. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 AM.

Melvin Johnson
KINGSPORT - James Melvin Johnson, Sr., age 86 of Kingsport, went to be with his Jesus on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Blackwood, VA, Melvin had lived in Sneedville, TN for several years before moving to Kingsport in 1949. He was retired from the Mead Corporation after 27 years of service. He was aveteran of the U. S. Army, serving in WWII and a member of the VFW Post #3382. Melvin was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Mattie Mullins Johnson, two sisters, Alphia Adkins and Myrtle Hopkins and two brothers, Henry and Bill Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Alder Johnson of the home; daughters, Elaine Watson and husband Joe, Brenda Peters and husband Roger all of Kingsport and Paula Morris and husband Gary of Knoxville; son, J. M. Johnson, Jr. and wife Barbara of Powell, TN; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Coralee Gregory Rodefer of Sneedville; sister-in-law-Nell Johnson of Kingsport; foster sister, Wanda Dowell of Ohio; foster brother, Floyd Collins of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM on Saturday July 29, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor J. W. Depew officiating. Music will be provided by the Brotherhood Quartet.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday at East Lawn Memorial Park, where a presentation of the American flag will be made by Joe W. Byrd, Chaplain of the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 PM.

Fannie Lawson Short
KINGSPORT - Fannie Lawson Short, age 98 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday July 27, 2006, at her daughters residence in Jonesborough, TN following a long illness.
Born in Hancock County, TN, Fannie had been a resident of Kingsport for most of her life and was retired from Borden Mills following 30 years service. She was also a homemaker who devoted her life to her family, was an excellent seamtress and loved to garden. Fannie was a member of Chesnut Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her three husbands: Toney Lawson in 1940, Milum Manis in 1951 and Clem Short in 1981, two sons, James and Toney Lawson and her parents Rev. William A. and Callie Lawson.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Imajean Davis of Jonesborough; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM on Sunday July 30, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. J. C. Riner officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday at Oak Hill cemetery. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 AM.

Daniel Brown
Kingsport - Daniel "Dan" Brown, 42, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Dan was born in Kingsport, where he had lived all of his life. He accepted Christ at an early age and was of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil R. Brown in 1999.
Surviving is his wife, Tammy Baxter Brown of the home; two step-sons, Anthony Hunt and Shannon Hunt; his mother, Lou Brown; a brother, Joseph N. Brown all of Kingsport, along with several cousins.
Graveside services were held at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Oak Hill cemetery, Kingsport, with services conducted by Rev. Richard Ratliff.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon's International, Kingsport East Camp, P.O. Box 3217, Kingsport, TN 37664 or to a charity of your choice.

Betty Lou Robinette
Mt. Carmel - Betty L. Miltenberger Robinette, 77, of Mount Carmel, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2006, at her residence following a brief illness.
Born in Dark County, OH, Betty had been a resident of Mt. Carmel for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Robinette; her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
Surviving are her daughter, Susan Adams and husband Frank of Jonesborough, Tenn.; four sons, Jerry Robinette of Mt. Carmel, Grover Robinette and wife Freda of Church Hill, Terry Robinette and wife Janice of Albuquerque, NM and Roy Robinette of Mt. Carmel, ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Howard and Joan Plummer both of Freeport, TX; a brother, Bobby Miltenberger and wife Peggy of Freeport, TX, along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Friday, July 21, 2006, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Oak Hill cemetery, Kingsport, with Rev. James Adams, officiating. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.
