Chief David Arch
KINGSPORT - "Chief" David Arch, 70 of Kingsport, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Cherokee, NC (Swain County) he moved to Kingsport over 37 years ago. He was a member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians of Cherokee, NC, served in the U. S. Army, was a member of the Cove Ridge Center at Natural Tunnell, VA, a member of the Renaissance Center of Kingsport and an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was retired from Tennessee Eastman Co. after 29 years of service. He was a member of State Line Baptist Church, but attended Mill Creek Baptist Church. He was a friend to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Walkingtree and Estella Arch Teesatuskie.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Shelton) Arch of the home; daughters, Denise Arch McGinnis and husband Edward Falin of Kingsport, and Dawnena Byington and husband Marty of Fall Branch, adopted son, Nicholus Arch of Kingsport; grandchildren, David McGinnis, Dinah McGinnis, Dylan Overbay and Brittany Falin; sisters, Rosalee Teesatuskie and husband Don, Rowena Teesatuskie and Ramona Standingdeer all of Cherokee, NC; brothers, Richard Teesatuskie, Raymond Teesatuskie, Roy Teesatuskie and Reuben Teesatuskie and wife Maxine all of Cherokee, NC; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as, a host of family and friends.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM Saturday July 15, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Stout and Rev. Bo Parris officiating. Music will be provided by the Yellow Hill Choir.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at Oak Hill cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 conducting the rites. Pallbearers will be the Color Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Grandsons, Adopted Son and Nephews. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mill Creek Baptist Church (Building Fund) 449 Church Road, Fall Branch, TN 37656.

Marie F. Parris
The angels came and took her home.
KINGSPORT - Marie F. Peters Parris, 78 of Beechnut Drive (Preston Forest), passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Brookhaven Manor Healthcare.
She was born in Scott County, VA where she graduated from Gate City High School. She worked for awhile at Murphy's Department Store in Gate City. She later lived for a short period of time on a homestead near Anchorage, Alaska. She later travelled to Japan and worked as a communications specialist for the U.S. Navy stationed in Okinawa. She then returned to Kingsport, where she worked for a short while at Kress Department Store, Oakwood Market and as a telephone operator. She later retired from arcata Graphics as a proofreader, after 27 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Fraysier, her parents, Buren and Viola Dockery Peters, and a half-sister, Margaret Lane.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert E. Parris of the home; daughter, Patricia Rene' and husband Dr. Larry Barnthouse of Oak Ridge, TN; a son, Larry Fraysier and wife Arvinia of Dungannon, VA; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Lorena Hayes of Rockledge, FL; brother, C. B. Peters, Jr. of Ft. Blackmore; half-sisters, Ms. Pauline Rhea of Kingsport, Nancy Gillenwater and husband Fred, Jean Carter and husband David and Ella Sue Deakins and husband Lynn of Kingsport, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday July 15, 2006 at Oak Hill cemetery with Rev. J. Spurgeon McCartt officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 AM.

Jackie Rich
Kingsport - Jackie "Jack " Leon Rich, 54, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at Bristol Hospice House.
Born in Scott Co., VA, Jack had lived in Kingsport since an early age. He was a graduate of Ketron High School. Jack was employed by Hoyt Denton Construction. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Olivia Brannon Rich; one grandson, Richard Rich and one brother, Johnny Rich.
Surviving are three daughters, Misty Gilliam, Elizabeth Rich and Jackie Lindsey; one daughter-In-law, Shemida Johnson; the mother of his children, Tammie Necessary; two God children, Mercedez Simpson and Carsen Simpson all of Kingsport; 8 grandchildren; two very close special friends, Buford Williams and Paul Amyx; sister-in-law, Betty Rich; two brothers, Frank Rich of Texas and Roy Sword and wife Patsy of Arkansas along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 12 noon to 2 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport or anytime at the residence of Susan Bledsoe, 1642 Spring Street, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Brewster, officiating.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers are Brad Denton, Hoyt Denton and David Bledsoe.

Danny Ireland Prillhart
Kingsport - Danny Ireland Prillhart, 59, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at his residence following a long illness.
Danny was born in Kingsport on July 6, 1947 and had spent his entire life here. He attended Good Shepherd Baptist Church and Bible Way Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ireland D. Prillhart.
Surviving is his mother, Emma L. Prillhart of the home; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila Branton and husband Edward E. of Locust Grove, GA, Sally Wampler and husband Bill, Sr. of Blountville and Dana Newsome and husband Lane H., Sr. of Kingsport; one brother and sister-in-law, Roger D. Prillhart and wife Donna of Stockbridge, GA along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roger D. Prillhart, officiating. Rev. Prillhart will also provide the music.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 14, 2006 at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens, Blountville. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Smokey Mtn. Home Health and Hospice, Max Medical Specialities, Inc., Dr. Dale Solomon, MD, Dr. Robert Rossert. MD, Dr. Mike Lamb, DDS and their staff's. Also, special thanks go to Ken Hill, Matthew Hill and Timothy Hill of WHCB Radio for their ministering to Danny through music, worship and bible buddies.

Fannie Morrison
Fall Branch - Fannie B. Morrison, 95, of Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Wexford House.
Born in Hawkins Co., Fannie was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed canning, gardening, flowers and the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eck and Vesta Sage Bernard; one brother and four sisters.
Surviving are her two granddaughters, Debbie Richards and husband Tim and Connie Lawson; two grandsons, Dwight Morrison and Stanley Morrison; all of Fall Branch; six great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren and a son-in-law, James Morrison.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church, 3711 Beech Creek Rd, Rogersville. Mrs. Morrison will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Freewill Baptist Church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Baptist Church cemetery Fund, C/O Ebbie Mullenix, 7500 Lone Star Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.

Robin Bishop
"Like a butterfly, she flew home"
Kingsport - Robin Bishop, 47, of Kingsport, who was a beautiful woman and had a loving soul, was called home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2006.
She will be greatly missed by all of her special friends that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Bishop and brother-in-law, Todd Wallager.
Surviving are her daughter, Ashley Bishop of Gate City, VA; mother, Shirley Green and husband Joseph of Gate City, VA; father, Maurice Smith and wife Katherine of Canada; three sisters, Debra Kirchner and husband David of the home, Jorrina Wallager of Johnson City, and Carman Smith and husband Kevin of Kingsport; four brothers, Stephen Smith and wife Michelle of Johnson City, Joseph Green, Jr. and wife Pam of Corpus Christi, TX, Rob Smith and wife Tina of Canada and Michael Smith of Canada; two step-sisters, Lisa Green of Michigan and Darlene Kantor of Canada; two step-brothers, Richard Green and wife Dawn of Michigan and Peter Kantor of Canada; two nephews, Kenneth Kirchner and David Kirchner Jr. both of the home, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Bob Lange, officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 10, 2006 at Tri-Cities Memory Garden, Blountville, TN. Pallbearers are Kenneth Kirchner, David Kirchner, Jr., Stephen Smith, Joseph Green, Jr., James Wallager, and Fred Hudson. Honorary Pallbeareres are Scott Ball, Sam Burke, and Christopher Wallager. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery at 10:55 am.

Albert E. Mellons
Kingsport - Albert Earl Mellons, 82, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Brookhaven Manor Healthcare following and illness.
Born in Church Hill, TN, Albert had been a resident of Kingsport for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Walker and his parents, Earl and Ollie Davis Mellons.
Surviving are his wife Shirley Head Mellons of the home; his son, Norman Mellons and wife Kathleen of Lincolnton, GA; a daughter-in-law, Anita Louise Mellons of Unicoi, TN; four grandchildren, David Mosley, Scott Mosley, Dwayne Mellons and Tina White; twelve great-grandchildren; uncle, Guy Mellons and wife Mossie and a brother-in-law, Harold Head and wife Eva.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the Pennington Memorial cemetery, Hwy 421, Pennington Gap, VA. with Rev. David Powers, officiating. Pallbearers will be his family and friends. It is reqeusted that family and friends going the the cemetery meet at the funeral home at 12:15 pm.
The family requests that no flowers be sent and would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff of Brookhaven Manor and Hospice for the wonderful care give to Mr. Mellons during his sickness.

Juanita Creasey
KINGSPORT - Juanita Huffman Bruner Creasey, age 82 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 3, 2006, at Sunbridge Hillside Manor Healthcare following a long illness.
She was born in Cleveland, VA on October 1, 1923 and had lived in Kingsport for most of her life. She was a devout Christian and loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Bruner, her second husband Harvey Creasey, her parents, Spearel and Audrey Huffman, sisters, Peggy Larkins, Dolly Reynolds and Mary Brinkley, brothers, Jack and Bobby Huffman.
She is survived by her sisters, Freda Crawford of Kingsport, and Dixie Gray of Lebanon, VA, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM Thursday July 6, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday at Oak Hill cemetery with Evangelist Larry Crawford officiating. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 AM.
