Dolores Doty
KINGSPORT - Mary Dolores Armstrong Doty, age 84 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Sunbridge Hillside Manor Healthcare.
Born in Greene County, TN, Dolores had been a resident of Kingsport for most of her life. In her early years, she was employed with Tennessee Eastman, later working at Parks-Belk and Ball Brothers Furniture. She was instrumental in compiling both the Sullivan County and the Greene County Genealogy Books. Dolores was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Beryl (Jackson) Armstrong and a sister Fawn Marion.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, A. Duane "Buck" Doty of the home; sons, Alfred "Al" Doty and wife Denise of Kingsport; Charles Doty and wife Naomi of Villa Rica, GA; and Tim Doty and wife Debbie of Blountville; grandchildren, Chad Doty, Josh Doty and wife Amanda, Jason Doty, Jon Doty and Anne Smith and husband David; step grandchildren, Chris Isenburg and wife Brandi and Cindy Gough and husband Chad; great grandchildren, Emma Doty and Jenna Smith; step-great granddaughter, Alyssa Isenburg; sisters, Nellie Armstrong of Greeneville, TN and Ruth Joyner of Kingsport; brother, Charlie Armstrong of Ft Blackmore, VA; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM Saturday, December 10, 2006 at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Pastor Tom Phillips officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, Organ Fund, 213 Colonial Heights Rd, Kingsport, TN 37663.

Wilma V. Bledsoe
Kingsport - Wilma Virginia (Allred) Bledsoe, 76, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Pontiac, MI and moved to the Kingsport area around 1948. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her second husband James M. Bledsoe; her first husband, Preston Walter Crawford; her parents, Alton Frank and Ruth Lucille Wesson Allred; a grandson, Bryan Crawford and 2 sisters, Dorothy Alexander and Joyce Peters.
Surviving are her son, Walter Crawford and his wife Carol of Skippers, Va; her sister, Roberta Sue Barton of CA; brother, Frank Edward Allred of San Diego, CA; a niece, Sue Alexander of IL along with a host of good neighbors and close friends.
Calling hours are from 12 noon to 1 pm on Monday, April 17, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with the Pastor David E. Castle, officiating.
Burial will follow in East Lawn cemetery, Kingsport. Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Brice W. Jeffers
KINGSPORT - Brice W. Jeffers, age 92 of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center. Brice entered into life on October 1, 1914 in Hawkins County. Moving to Kingsport at an early age, he spent the remainder of his life in a town he loved to call home. Starting as a newspaper carrier at an early age; Brice worked his way to a 44-year service with Tennessee Eastman Company. When retirement wasn't to his liking, he joined Oakwood Markets for a short stint.
The light of his life, his mother, Cora (Early) Jeffers preceded him in death, as well as, his father, Arthur Hayes Jeffers; sister, Agnes Fletcher Lovitt; brothers, Haskell Jeffers, Braxton Jeffers, Reed Jeffers, R. C. Jeffers and infant twins.
Survivors include his cousin, Virginia Wagner of Kingsport; sisters-in-law, Marie Jeffers and Kathleen Jeffers of Kingsport and Jackie Jeffers of Texas; friends, James Darnell, Sid Darnell and Ray Daugherty of Kingsport, Mary Carpenter and Hobert Hubble of Middlesboro, KY; two nieces and seven nephews.
Calling hours will be from 1-2 PM on Wednesday December 6, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe W. Byrd officiating. Music will be provided by Alvin Goins. Burial will follow in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends will serve as pallbearers.

Jerry Edward Sanders
Jerry Edward Sanders, 64, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (December 2, 2006) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Washington County, TN and lived the majority of his life in Kingsport.
Mr. Sanders served in the United States Army Reserves. He retired from the Eastman Kodak in 1996 with 33 years of service. Following his retirement, Jerry was an avid hunter & loved to fish. He loved all kinds of racing and he especially loved his grandchildren. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Boones Creek, TN. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Edward Sanders along with several aunts & uncles.
Jerry Edward Sanders is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Linda Sanders; his daughter, Jennifer "Dude" Kilgore & her husband, Travis (Kingsport); three grandchildren, Kerigan, Kamdyn & Kenleigh Kilgore; his mother, Diddy Foxx Sanders (Boones Creek, TN); two sisters, Pat Friday (Gray, TN) & Nancy Guajardo (Boones Creek, TN); a brother, Robert (Bob) Sanders & his wife, Karen (Boones Creek, TN); three nieces, Cindy Maness, Angie Stoffell & Melinda Sanders; a nephew, Joey Guajardo; his best friend, Billy "Pappaw Frog" Cutshaw along with a special friend, Erica "Duck" Bufkin. A special thank-you goes out to the employees of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center for their special care during his stay.
Calling hours will be held on Monday (December 4, 2006) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday (December 4, 2006) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronnie Brashear & Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.
A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 & Gate City Post #265 on Tuesday (December 5, 2006) at 1 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made to the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601.

Boyd Poe
KINGSPORT - James Boyd "Sleepy" Poe, age 79 of Kingsport, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Hawkins County, Boyd had lived in Kingsport for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S Army serving in WWII and was retired from Tennessee Eastman following 25 years of service. He was a member of the Elks Club and past member of the Moose Club. Boyd was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Poe; his parents, James D. and Nita (Boyd) Poe; sisters Ann Poe Martin and Francis Poe Arnold; brother, Paul Marion "Gabby" Poe and wife Neta Jo; brothers-in-law, Donnie Morton, David Arnold, C.D. Gray, Jr., J.C. Williams and Victor Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lida Williams Poe of Church Hill Lifecare Center; sisters, Jean Gray of Church Hill and Betty Poe of Mt. Carmel; brother, George "Pooch" Poe and wife Beverly of Kingsport; sister-in-law Barbara Williams Morelock and husband Charles of Kingsport; brother-in-law, Roy Williams of Huntsville, AL; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 1-3 PM Sunday December 3, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Friends may also call anytime at 1600 Patrick Court (Ridgefields) Kingsport, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ron Ramsey and Rev. Vic Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnnie Williams, Alan Fields, Mike Poe, Chad Shanks, Marc Arnold and Justin Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Shivell, Ken Christian, Don Francisco, Jack Jarvis and Ron Arnold.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or charity of the donor's choice.

KINGSPORT - Edwin Scott Hartgrove, 66 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, TN and was retired from the Sullivan County Highway Department, as a truck driver. He was a Christian.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, William Gus Hartgrove and Cora (Steffey) Hartgrove and a brother, Don Hartgrove.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Brenda Dingus Hartgrove of the home; daughters, Tracy Couch and husband Jason of Church Hill and Billie Fletcher and husband Rev. Geno Fletcher of Jonesboro, TN; grandchildren, Jordan Raines, Correy Raines, Christian Fletcher, Brooke Couch and Bryanna Couch; sister, Ann Nichols, Greeneville, TN; brother, John Hartgrove of Church Hill; a special pet, Kaley and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday November 30, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Geno Fletcher officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Friday at Oak Hill cemetery. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:55 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingsport Animal Shelter, 2141 Idle Hour Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.

Mary Lee Dorton
KINGSPORT - Mary Lee Brown Dorton, 94 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 27, 2006, at Indian Path Medical Center.
She was born in Hawkins County, TN and had lived in Kingsport and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Jackson Dorton; parents, John Morrell Brown and Nellie (Parker) Brown; sisters, Pearl, Pauline and Nell; brothers, Ed, Charlie, Paul and Gene.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lee Russell and husband Albert of Kingsport; grandchildren, Steven Russell and wife Anna and Sharon Roop and husband Jeff all of Kingsport; great grandchildren, Sheena Smith, Isaac Roop, Kelia and MaKenzie Russell; sister, Grace Hokans of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Floyd Brown of Mt Carmel; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Gott officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hodges, and all the staff in ICU at Indian Path Medical Center, for their care and concern of Mother.

Gladys O. Forsha
Kingsport - Gladys Overby Forsha, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday (April 15, 2006) after a brief illness.
Gladys was born in Bon Aqua, Tennessee on December 4, 1919. She married a career soldier in 1944 and lived throughout the U.S. and abroad during 22 years of military service. Upon her husband's retirement from the Army, they became long-term residents of Kingsport, and she worked as a medical secretary for several physicians. She was a talanted quilt maker and also raised and showed award-winning Himalayan cats with her husband. Gladys and Ken returned to Kingsport in 2004 due to health reasons after living in Fort Myers, Florida for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Major Kenneth D. Forsha.
Surviving include two daughters and their husbands., Rita and W. Lynn Perry of Kingsport and Linda and Michael McIntyre of Ringgold, Georgia; two sons, Kenneth D. Forsha, II of Bristol and Jerry D. Forsha of Ft. Myers, Florida; five grandchildren, Melissa McIntyre, Melanie Kuykendall, Michelle McIntyre and her husband Andrew Farmer, Patrick McIntyre and Kristopher Forsha; and two great grandchildren, Jamie and Brittany Kuykendall
The family will receive friends from 3 - 4 pm on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 pm in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Hugh Thompson, officiating. Private burial will take place at Mountain Home National cemetery, Mountain Home, TN
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in honor of Gladys Forsha be made to the Sullivan County Humane Society, PO Box 654, Blountville, TN 37617
