Mary Johnson
Mary Johnson, 54 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (July 25, 2007) at the VA Hospital in Mountain Home, Tenn.
Born in Memphis, Tenn. Mary had lived in Hernando, Mississippi most of her life. She was a secretary for the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carey Johnson; son, Dorian Sparks; and father, Robert Hardy.
Mary is survived by her sons, Jeremy Johnson and fiancée Erin Grizzle, Church Hill, Joseph Sparks and wife Miranda, Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, Tyler and Brett Sparks; mother, Mary Hardy, Olive Branch, Miss; sister, Eva Clayton and husband Thomas, Batesville, Miss; brother, Robert Hardy, of Texas; and her special friends, the Grizzle Family.
A memorial service will be Saturday (July 28, 2007) at 3 p.m. at the Chestnut Flats Primitive Baptist Church located on Lucy Road with Pastor Bill Nelson officiating.
A military graveside service will be conducted following the funeral service at Chestnut Flats cemetery with American Legion Post #3/265 and the Tenn Army National Guard conducting the rites.

Joyce Price Davis
Joyce Price Davis, 53 of Church Hill (Ross Campground Community) went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, (July 24, 2007) at her residence following a brief illness.
She was a life-long resident of Church Hill. Joyce was a member of the Scott County Life Saving Crew, the American Red Cross and was retired from Ramada Inn where she worked as a waitress.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jackie Davis; and parents, Joe and Mary Bruner Price.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Paul Davis of the home; sons, Joey Davis and wife Michelle, Kingsport, Mark Davis and Paula Lawson, Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, Joseph, Zoey, and Mary Davis; brothers, Gary Price and wife Brenda, Bristol, Tenn., Lonnie Price and wife Debbie, Kingsport, Ernie Price, Gastonia, NC, David Crumley and wife Betty, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday (July 26, 2007) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral service will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Greg Street officiating. Music will be provided by the Lumpkins Family.
Graveside service will Friday (July 27, 2007) at 11 a.m. at Ross Campground Methodist Church cemetery in Church Hill. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.

James Francisco
KINGSPORT - James "Jim" Wilson Francisco, 71, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday evening (July 17, 2007) at Indian Path Medical Center.
He had lived the majority of his life in Kingsport. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, and was retired from the AFG- Greenland plant with over 35 years of service. He was a very active member of Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Francisco; parents, Jack and Neva Ray Francisco; sister, Linda King.
James is survived by his daughter, Jamie Francisco, Kingsport; sons, Jeff Francisco, Elizabethon, TN, Jon Francisco, and his wife Shannon, Richmond, VA, Jack Francisco, and his wife Teri, Albemarle, NC; three grandchildren, Jerad Francisco, Abigail Smith, Joshua Francisco; sister, Peggy Hackney and her husband John, Kingsport; along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday (July 20, 2007) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church. 1000 Kendrick Creek Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Susan Anderson and Rev. John Hackney officiating.
Burial will take place at Kendricks Creek United Methodist cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be the men of the church.

Marlin S. Carson
Marlin S. Carson, A recent resident of Sunbridge, Hilside Rehabilitation Center passed awa on Saturday, (July 14, 2007). Mr. Carson is survived by three children, Leslie Colburn of Houston TX, James Carson of Blountville, TN and Nancy Maloney of Bradenton, FL. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kevin Colburn of Houston, TX, Matthew Carson of Charlotte, NC, Laura Richmond of Bristol, TN, Sarah McCabe of Skohegan, ME, and Catherine Davenport of Kingsport, TN, as well as six great grandchildren, Julie Davenport, Kaylie Richmond, Abigail Colburn, David Davenport, Micah Carson, and Carley McCabe. Funeral and graveside will be in Bridgetown, NJ at the Freitag Funeral Home.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, is in charge of arrangements locally for the Carson family.

Mary Ozelle Ramey
Mary Ozelle Baldwin Ramey, 81, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Saturday, (July 14, 2007) at Brookhaven Health Care.
She was born in Dickson County, Tenn. and moved to Kingsport in 1948. She was a member of Orebank Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude B. and Parry (Hardesty) Baldwin; and several sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Warren Ramey of the home; daughters, Beverly Ann Bear and husband, Roy C., Kingsport, Rita Marlene Peter and husband, Paul D., Fall Branch; son, Keith Ramey and wife Nina, Kingsport; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Kay Farmer, Cunningham, Tenn; half-sister, Essie Mae Welker, Cunningham, Tenn.; brothers, Charles Baldwin, Cunningham, Tenn, Glynn Baldwin, Clarksville, Tenn; Harold Wayne Baldwin, Cumberland Furnace, Tenn.; sister-in-laws, Kathelene Ramey, Virgie Fogleman; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday (July 16, 2007) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Orebank Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Orebank Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor David Foster and Rev. Joe W. Byrd officiating. Music will be provided by the Church Choir.
Graveside service will be Tuesday (July 17, 2007) at 10:30 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with pallbearers being Kevin Bear, Marty Bear, Scott Peters, Samuel Ramey, Scott Ward, and Terry Frazier.

Thomas W. "Tom" Ketron
Thomas “Tom” Edgar Sexton, 92, Kingsport went to be with the Lord Saturday (July 14, 2007) at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born June 11, 1915, in Nickelsville, Va. and grew up in St. Paul, Va., there he graduated from High School in 1934. He studied Accounting at the International Accountants Society and was employed by Tennessee Eastman Company in the Accounting Department for 36 years. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church where he served as a teacher, deacon and on various committees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Thomas and Lummia Hillman Sexton of St. Paul Va.; sisters, Clara Zeda Sexton Jacobs, Logan, WV, Gladys Sexton Brooks, Kingsport; and brother, Kermit G. Sexton, Pikeville, KY.
Tom is survived by his wife, Madeline “Madge” Yates Sexton; son, Thomas E. Sexton, Jr. and wife Joan (Williams); grandsons, Thomas F. Sexton and wife Janet, David J. Sexton and wife Gwen; great-grandsons, Spencer and Cole Sexton; brothers, Grover J. Sexton, Claude F. Sexton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Monday (July 16, 2007) from 12 to 2 p.m. at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral service will be Monday at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Pastor Brian Shuler officiating. Music will be provided by Jimmy Don Green and wife.
Burial will follow the funeral service at East Lawn Memorial Park with pallbearers, Tom Sexton, David Sexton, Spencer Sexton, Archie Pierce, Leon Wiles and Lynn Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends from Appalachian Christian Village.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Appalachian Christian Village at 2020 Sherwood Road, Johnson City, TN 37615.

Verna Gertrude Freeman
Verna Gertrude Freeman, 86 Kingsport, Tenn., went to be with the Lord, Wednesday (July 11, 2007) at the Wexford House in Kingsport, Tenn.
She was born in Hawkins County, Tenn. (Blairs Gap) and had lived in Kingsport since an early age. She was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School and worked at Borden Mills, Inc. in the Spinning Dept. She also worked for J Fred Johnson Dept. store and the Nettie Lee shops. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and attended Three Bells Methodist Church (Duffield, Va.) and was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Texas (Campbell) Freeman; brother, Ernest Freeman; and nephew, Tony Freeman.
She is survived by her sister, Christine (Freeman) Smith and husband Robert Alan, Kingsport; brothers, Parmer Freeman and wife Aileen, of Texas, Guerney “Gus” Freeman and wife Alice, Kingsport; three nieces, Karren Bradshaw, Kammie Rasnake, Carla Freeman; five nephews, Ronnie Freeman, Mike Freeman, Steve Freeman, Roger Freeman, Randy Freeman; three special great nieces, Jennifer Rasnake, Emily Rasnake, and Rhonda Freeman.
The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service. Friends may also call at anytime at the residence of her sister Christine Smith.
Funeral service will be Friday (July 13, 2007) at 5 p.m. with Pastor Patrick Rasnake officiating and eulogy by Gus Freeman and Christine Smith. Music will be provided by Doug Hurley.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday 10 a.m. at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mike Freeman, Bob Smith, Charles Bell, and Steve Freeman. Friends and family who wish to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are asked to be made to The American Cancer Society at 508 Princeton Road Suite 102, Johnson City, Tenn.

Dr. Allen Chan
Church Hill, TN - Dr. Allen Chan, 34 of Church Hill, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hong Kong, Dr. Chan had been a resident of Church Hill for two years and was a family physician with Holston Medical Group in Weber City, VA.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Chan and daughter Amelia Chan both of the home; his parents, K. W. and Alice Chan of Winterville, NC; brother, Roland Chan of Greensboro, NC; several aunts, uncle and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, 213 Colonial Heights Rd, Kingsport, TN with Pastor Tom Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends at the church, immediately following the service. Friends may also call anytime at the residence.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: The Amelia Chan Trust Fund, C/O Holston Medical Group, 2323 N John B Dennis Hwy, Kingsport, TN 37660.
