Aurthur Sage
Mr. Aurthur B. ( Art ) Sage, age 63, of 139 Ridgeway Ave., Church Hill, Tn. passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Sage was a native of Lee County, Virginia but had spent most of his life in Hawkins County. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd & Elsie Roberts Sage, One sister, Laura Rebecca Sage, Nephews, Coy Patterson and David Patterson. Brother-in-laws, Rev. Coy R. Patterson and Harrison Sandidge. Sister-in-law, Nina Sage.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Bradshaw Sage of the home, Sisters, Dorothy Sandidge of Bristol, Virginia and Edith Patterson of Church Hill. Brothers, Charles ( Bill ) Sage of Kingsport, Roy Sage of Columbus, Ohio and Robert & Martha Sage of Columbus, Ohio. Three special nieces, Connie Bates, Adrianne DeZarn and Brandy Bradshaw. Two special nephews, LeRoy Sage and Ron Sage. Several other nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and a host of friends.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Orville Dolen Officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday at the Liberty Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Roy Sage, Tim Sage, Terry Sage, Randy Sage, Leroy Sage, Dakota Sage, Mike Patterson and Colter Patterson.

Norma Lee Barnett
Mrs. Norma Lee Barnett, age 74, of 134 Old Mill Race Rd., Church Hill passed away Friday, November 29, 2002 at the Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Barnett was a native of Pine Grove, West Virginia and had lived in Orlando, Florida before moving to Church Hill in 1961.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. Barnett, Granddaughter, Jennifer L. Taylor, Father, Cecil C. Miller, Mother, Opal M. Todd, Step-Father, Olin Todd, Sister, Carmen M. Holtzclaw.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Dean ( Sharon ) Shelton of Kingsport. Two sons and daughter-in-laws, Greg and Elizabeth Barnett of Surgoinsville, Stanley and Linda Barnett of Bushnell, Florida. Nine Grandchildren and Three great grandchildren. One sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Ernest ( Yvonne ) Bass of Orlando, Florida.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her daughter, Sharon Shelton, 200 Adrian Dr., Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Heflin officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 pm Tuesday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Glenn Lee Simpson
Mr. Glenn Lee Simpson, age 56, of 835 Webster Valley Rd., Rogersville, Tn. passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002 at his home.
Mr. Simpson was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was retired from the Quebecor Printing - Hawkins County Plant.
He is preceded in death by his father J.D. Simpson.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Woods Simpson of the home. Son, Greg Simpson of the home, Son and Daughter-in-law, Gary Lynn and Cindy Simpson of Rogersville. Mother Virgie Matthews Simpson of Church Hill. Brother and Sister-in-law, Ronnie and Joyce Simpson of Church Hill, Sister and Brother-in-law, Helen and Brady Richards of Church Hill. Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, J.S. and Norma Jean Woods. Sister-in-laws, Melissa Roark and Peggy Johnson. Brother-in-laws Billy Woods and Sammie Woods. Nieces and nephews, Michael Simpson, Robert Roberson, Rodney Roberson, Rebecca Bickle, Samantha Woods, Jose Woods and Danielle Woods.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred White officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday at the Woods family cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Donald Mowell, Fred Yankee, Sammie Woods, Billy Woods, Rodney Roberson and Robert Roberson.

Randy Lee Huckaby, 31
CHURCH HILL - Randy Lee Huckaby, 31, of 281 Hickory Hills Road, was DOA Friday at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following injuries received in an auto accident.
Randy was a life long resident of Church Hill and was of the Methodist faith. He was an electrician by trade.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jimmy Huckaby and uncle, Donnie Huckaby.
Survivors include his father and step mother, Billy and Candice Huckaby, Kingsport; mother of his children, Smantha Leath, Church Hill; three sons, Dalton, Dylan and Donavon Huckaby, all of Church Hill; grandmother, Myrtle Huckaby, Church Hill; one brother sister-in-law, Jonathan and Monica Huckaby, Greensboro, North Carolina; two half brothers, Brandon Paul Huckaby, Florida; and Billy Huckaby, Jr., Jonesboro; two half sisters, Shonna Huckaby, Hiltons, Virginia; April Huckaby, Church Hill; uncle, Ricky Huckaby and wife, Lisa, Church Hill; three nieces, Skyler, April and Jerica Huckaby; several other family and friends.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of his grandmother, Myrtle Huckaby, 281 Hickory Hills Road, Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Monday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Alvin Skelton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Estep, Casey Huckaby, Danny Barrett, Eric Helton, Tim Helton and Sam Lawson.

Grace C. Stelzer, 90
KINGSPORT - Grace C. Stelzer, 90, of 110 Thomas Street, passed away Friday, (November 22, 2002) at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Stelzer was a native of Butler, Tennessee and lived in Florida for several years before moving to Kingsport 20 years ago. She was a member of McPheeters Bend Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Stelzer, her parents, Ezra and Fronnie Cable Cowan, grandson, John S. Arnold, sisters, Roxie Greenwell, Flossie Dean, Georgia Anderson, Hazel Dugger and Lucy Snyder, brothers, Ronda Cowan, Wiley Cowan, Von Ray Cowan and Smith Cable.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Arnold, Church Hill; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Beverly Stelzer, Cooper City, Florida; three grandchildren, Jessica Arnold, Kim Cangialosi and husband, Joey; Heather Badami and husband, Tony; two great grandchildren, Tabitha Cangialosi and Tara Cangialosi.
Calling hours are from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Roberts officiating.

Cora Helen Williams, 60
SURGOINSVILLE - Cora Helen Williams, 60, of 2128 Stanley Valley Road, passed away Wednesday (November 13, 2002) at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.
Miss. Williams was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Limestone Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Blanche Anderson Williams, brothers, Delmar Williams and Garland Williams, Jr.
She is survived by six sisters, Betty Bailey, Mary Jane Fields and Patricia Lawson, all of Surgoinsville; Gladys Linkous and Faye Horne both of Gray; and Linda Sue Hayes, Johnson City; three brothers, George Baker, Greenville; Wayne Williams and Larry Williams, both of Surgoinsville; two special nieces, Tammy Horne Sexton and Joyce Ramey; two special nephews, Shane Williams and Scotty Williams; several other nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her sister, Betty Bailey, 2130 Stanley Valley Road.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 8:00 P. M. in the funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Edward Johnson officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel cemetery.

Oscar Wayne Alley, 56
MOUNT CARMEL – Oscar Wayne Alley, 56, of 254 Ashville Avenue, departed this life and entered into eternal rest Tuesday (November 13, 2002) following a short struggle with cancer.
Wayne was a life long resident of Hawkins County. He was a Christian who professed Christ as his Savior and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. Wayne was a loyal and dedicated community servant for 26 years. He began as a Church Hill Rescue Squad volunteer and then became a Police Officer for Mount Carmel where he served for 18 years and served as Chief of Police for several years. He worked for the Surgoinsville Police Department for four years. He also served eight years as a Hawkins County Commissioner and served several years as part-time deputy with the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ora Gibson Alley, nephew, Jamie Baker and niece, Carolyn Marie Baker.
He is survived by his loving wife and friend for 36 years, Zinda Pratt Alley, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Tracy Alley, Rogersville; Calvin and Donna Alley, Church Hill; grandchildren, Collin Alley, Meghan Gibson, Bradley Gibson and Trae Stilwell; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Maggie and Albert Williams, Church Hill; Irene and Eddie Baker, Crossville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Adams and Chaplin Jim Hagy officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Mitchell cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Jackson, Mike Campbell, Donnie Mitchell, Dale Scalf, Chip Whitaker, Ken Luster, Tony Spitzer and Chad Gillenwater.
