Jack Donald Marsh, 74
CHURCH HILL - Jack Donald Marsh, 74, of 503 Deerfield Circle, passed away Thursday (September 25, 2003) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Marsh was a native Church Hill and lived for several years in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and attended Old Union United Methodist Church. He was a retired employee of the Government Printing Office and was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict and spent several years in the Army Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Norma Mayhew Marsh, his parents, Neal Franklin and Annie Flanigan Marsh, one sister, Lucille Shivley.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Marsh, Church Hill; one son, Jack Douglas Marsh, Church Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Darell Price, Rogersville; one step daughter, Jeannie Truman and husband, William, Church Hill; two grand daughters, Ashlee Dawn Price and Lindsee Blake Price; one step grandson, Brandon Truman.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 8:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Victor Wallace and the Rev. Gale Flanary officiating.
Graveside services with military honors conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Tim Shivley, Terry Shivley, William Truman, Brandon Truman, Wayne Duncan, Frank Marsh, Eddie Morgan and Paul Marsh.

Blanton D. "Shorty" Christian, 71
CHURCH HILL - Blanton "Shorty'" Christian, 71 of 1927 Goshen Valley Road, passed away Friday, September 19, 2003 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Christian was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of the Goshen Valley Church of God. He was retired from TVA and had worked for the A.F.G. Industries, Kingsport Plant for 23 years. He was a member of the Church Hill VFW Post # 9754 and loved to raise cattle. Mr. Christian was a veteran of the US Army and was a Sgt. in a medical unit during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon K. Christian in 1985. His parents, Claude T. & Mary Jane Alley Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Ina Caldwell Christian of the Home, one daughter and son-in-law, Penny Christian Leary and husband, Mark, Severn, Maryland; two sisters, Hazelle Harris, Church Hill and Nell Mowel, Rogersville; Several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Faye Robertson, Arnold, Maryland and many special friends.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Shelton and Rev. Lawrence Shelton officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens with Military Rites conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard.
Pallbearers will be, Gene Christian, Wandal Cradic, Scott Harris, Steve Harris, Mark Leary and Herman Arnold.
Honoray bearers are Bill Christian, Clifford Ball, Anthony Wallen, Kyle Pearcy, Charles Harrington, Kenneth Long, Gene Vest.
The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to the building fund of Goshen Valley Church Of God.

Douglas Richard Sawyer, 72
CHURCH HILL - Douglas Richard Sawyer, 72, of 243 Creek Road passed away Tuesday (September 16, 2003) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Sawyer was a native Bar Harbor, Maine but had lived in Church Hill for the past 42 years. He was a member of McPheeters Bend Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Tennessee Eastman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Etta Grinlin Sawyer, three brothers, George Sawyer, John Sawyer and Raymond Sawyer, two sisters, Phyllis and Flora.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Woods Sawyer, Church Hill; three sons, Tom Sawyer, David Sawyer and Dougie Sawyer, all of Church Hill; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Ashley, Amanda, Joseph and Josh Sawyer, one great grand daughter, Taylor Patterson; one brother, Bill Sawyer, Church Hill.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 P. M. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Benny Woods, Rev. Mark Roberts and Rev. Fain Arnold officiating.
Graveside services with military honors conducted by the Hawkins County County Color Guard will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at McPheeters Bend cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Woods, Jackie Woods, Brian Woods, Powell Christian, James Woods and Josh Phillips.

Nanette Housewright Thompson
KINGSPORT - Nanette Housewright Thompson of 100 Netherland Lane, passed away Friday (January 30, 2004) at Asbury Center at Baysmont following an extended illness.
Mrs. Thompson was a native of Church Hill and had spent her life in Hawkins and Sullivan Counties. She was a retired employee of the Mead Corporation and was of the Methodist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Thompson, her parents, Neil and Kate Flanigan Housewright, three brothers, J. N. Housewright, Claude Housewright and Hal Housewright, five sisters, Mary Sue Housewright, Ruby Winegar, Dorothy Healey, Lyle Gibbons and Kathleen Magarill.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary Housewright, Church Hill; O'Dell Davis and Charleen Rowland both of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 7 P. M. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Monday at 7:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Old Union cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Donald Lee Webb, 64
CHURCH HILL - Donald Lee Webb, 64, of 213 Mountain View Road, left his earthly home for his Heavenly home Thursday (January 29, 2004). He was born in Hawkins County (Grassy Creek Community) to the late Thirlie and Bessie Sellers Webb, September 5, 1939.
He worked as a carpenter for Barker Builders before retiring in September 2001. Donald Lee was a simple hard working man who loved his family and the Lord, he believed in being honest and working for all that the Lord let him use. His greatest joys in life was serving the Lord, spending time with his family, horseback riding, taking his wife buggy riding and singing. His ability to see the good in those that he came into contact with was a character trait that will be greatly missed. Donald Lee attended the Gospel Mission Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thirlie and Bessie Sellers Webb, four brothers, James Webb, Homer Webb, Kyle Webb and Robert Webb, one sister, Helen Webb.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann R. Castle Webb, Church Hill; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie "Shade" & Vesta Bernard Webb, Church Hill; Jason Lynn and Sherry Brewer Webb, Rogersville; one grand-daughter, Morgan Alean Webb; one brother and sister-in-law, Herman & Liza Webb, Marblehead, Ohio; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Opal and Paul Kuzma, Port Clinton, Ohio; Betty and Monroe Morelock, Sylivia Benton and Shirley and Clarence Coffey, all of Rogersville; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Friday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Orville Dolen officiating.

Juana Bidart Quinones, 79
KINGSPORT - Juana Bidart Quinones, 79, of 100 Netherland Lane, died Tuesday (January 20, 2003) at the Asbury Center at Baysmont following an extended illness.
Mrs. Quinones was a native of Banes, Orienta, Cuba. She spent most of her adult life in Indianapolis, Indiana moving to Kingsport in 2003. She was of the Catholic faith and was a retired employee of RCA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ovidio J. Quinones, her parents, Pierre and Caridad Proenza Bidart.
She is survived by two daughters, Juana Quinones and husband, R. Daryel Anderson, Kingsport; Liliana & Philip MacDonald, Placentia, California; three grand daughters, Catherine D. Anderson, Nicole M. MacDonald and Kelly C. MacDonald; one brother and sister-in-law, Pedro and Elizabeth Porciello Bidart, Wellington, Florida; four sisters, Josefina Bidart Galindo and Caridad Bidart Furones both of Miami, Florida; Victoria Bidart de la Cruz, Orlando, Florida; Maria Bidart Soto, Hialeah, Florida; two nieces and nine nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Patrick Bone officiating.
Mrs. Quinones' cremains will be interred in Indianapolis, Indiana at a later date.

Carl Housewright, 80
MOUNT CARMEL - Carl Housewright, 80, of 418 Gallop Avenue, went home to be with the Lord on Friday (January 16, 2004) at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Housewright was a life long resident of Hawkins County and attended Liberty Hill Evangelical Methodist Church. He was a retired employee of Penn-Dixie Corporation with 34 years of service and was a member of Clay Masonic Lodge # 386 and the Gideons.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Housewright, his parents, Marsh and Dora Kersey Housewright, four brothers, Elijah Housewright, Herbert Housewright, Hubert Housewright and Tom Housewright, two sisters, Mabel Lawson and Edna Brice.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pearl Williams Housewright, Mount Carmel; three sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Peggy Housewright, Kingsport; Kermit and Cathy Housewright, Church Hill; Gale and Terra Housewright, Ashland, Ohio; six grandchildren, Michael Housewright, Casey Housewright and wife, Denise, Leah Bowlin and husband, Troy, Meredith Housewright, Taylor Housewright and Chelsea Housewright; two step great grandchildren, Aasin Bowlin and Lexis Bowlin; two brothers, DeWitt Housewright, Kingsport; Clay Housewright, Surgoinsville; one sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and John Brice, Surgoinsville; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Sunday at 8:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earl Miller and the Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating. A Masonic Memorial service conducted by Clay Masonic Lodge # 386 will follow the funeral service.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Highland cemetery in Rogersville.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Wayne Henry, George Poe, Jimmy Vaughn, Bill Davis, Chuck McClellan and Levern Nunley.
Honorary bearers will be Carl Hill, Ralph Carver, J. L. Leonard, Norris Morris and W. C. Morelock.
