Ora Long Cupp, 91
CHURCH HILL - Ora Long Cupp, 91, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday (October 7, 2004) at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center following a long illness.
Mrs. Cupp was born in Hawkins County and had resided most of her life. She was a wife, mother and homemaker, and was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Cupp, her parents, John and Addie Armstrong Long and fifteen brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Nickols, Knoxville; one granddaughter and three great grandsons; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express our thanks to the Church Hill Health Care Center for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Cupp.
Calling hours are from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Friday at 7:30 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Edd Anderson and the Rev. Roger Dinsmore officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Ethel Leona Blair, 99
SURGOINSVILLE - Ethel L. Blair, 99, of Surgoinsville, passed away Monday (November 8, 2003) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rogersville following an extended illness.
Mrs. Blair was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, McKinnley Blair; sons, Mack Blair, Earl Blair and Carl Blair; her parents, James and Rebecca Burke Larkins; several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Joyce Blair, Rogersville; Lynn Blair, Knoxville; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Oaks, Church Hill.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 P. M. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her son, Ralph Blair, 2025 Old Hwy. 11W, Rogersville, TN.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 8:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Alvin Skelton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Bethel cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Blair, Danny Blair, Wayne Blair, Ralph Blair, Jr., Stanley Blair and Pat Blair.

Jacob C. Haynes, 89
CHURCH HILL - Jacob C. Haynes, 89, of Church Hill, passed away Saturday (November 13, 2004) at the Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Haynes was a member of New Mountain View Baptist Church of Oliver Springs, TN. While living in Church Hill he attended the McPheeters Bend Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Venus Seal Haynes, his parents, J. P. and Ella Mae Haynes, Sister, Dollie Corum and Zella Lambie, brother, Theodore Haynes.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Ketron Haynes, Church Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Shoopman, Oliver Springs, TN; three grandchildren, Greg Shoopman and wife, Roberta; Gina Brown and husband, Jim; Beth McCoy and husband, Ken; six great grandchildren, Sam and Andrew Shoopman, Amanda and Jayden Brown and Ryan and Kaitlin McCoy; sisters, Lucy Defer, Michigan; Hattie Burch, Knoxville; and Vola Hammer, Lutrell, TN; step children, Steve Ketron and wife, Alice Ann; Karen Newland and husband, Steve; Phyllis Hensley and husband, Wayne, all of Church Hill; Billy Ketron and wife, Sandra, Arizona; several great and great-great step grandchildren. A very special thanks to all you who took care of my dad at Church Hill Health Care Center, you are very special.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 P. M. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Monday at 7:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Roberts and the Rev. Joe Snapp officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Clinton, Tennessee.

Sue Elizabeth Sproles Flanigan, 92
CHURCH HILL - Sue Elizabeth Sproles Flanigan, 92, of 600 Old Union Road, passed away Friday (November 19, 2004) at the Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Flanigan was a native of Bluff City, Tennessee but had spent most of her adult life in Church Hill. She was a member of Old Union United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Flanigan, one son, Rufus Flanigan, her parents, Alvin Wagner, Sr., and Cynthia Ellen Pippen Sproles, eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Buford Light, Church Hill; four sons and daughters-in-law, Toy and Margie Flanigan, Mount Carmel; Don and Delorse Flanigan, Wecota, South Dakota; Frank Flanigan, Gray; Clark Flanigan, Goldsboro, NC; fifteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Monday at 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gale Flanary officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Liberty Hill cemetery.
Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Danny Carrol Pennington, 53
CHURCH HILL - Danny Carrol Pennington, 53, of 505 Short Street, passed away Monday (November 22, 2004) at his residence.
Mr. Pennington was a native of Church Hill and had lived for several years in Indiana and Illinois. He was a welder and was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrol and Margaret Flanigan Pennington, aunt, Katherine Marsh.
He is survived by one son, Daniel W. Pennington, Rockford, IL; three sister, Victoria Jones, Kingsport; Jill Flanigan and Ann Aldridge; special cousins, Paul and Ina Bell Marsh, Church Hill; special friends, Timothy, Amy and Bridgett Gauger and Gary Maness.
Calling hours are from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home.
A memorial services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gale Flanary officiating.

Nell Rose Long, 75
CHURCH HILL - Nell Rose Long, 75, passed away Wednesday (November 24, 2004) at the Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Long was a life long resident of Church Hill and was a member of McPheeters Bend Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyle H. & Buna Smith Long.
She is survived by one son, Jimmy Wayne Long, Elizabethton; one grandson, Jackie Wayne Long, Elizabethton; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen and Willard Ryans, Ruby Arnold and Hubert Begley, and Nancy Gray, all of Church Hill; Carla Higgins, Kingsport; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth H. and Gaynell Long, Church Hill; several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Church Hill Health Care & Rehab, all staff on C. Wing and special friend, Alice Riner.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her sister, Mary Ellen Ryans, 308 King Avenue. Church Hill.

CHURCH HILL - Lucille Christian, 85, 789 Christians Bend Road, passed away Monday (November 29, 2004) at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Christian was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Christians Bend Free Will Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Christian, her parents, James and Isabelle Dykes Christian, sisters, Frankie Kincheloe, Ruth Christian and Willie Smith, step son, Demas Christian and son-in-law, Dwayne Arnold.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dayton and Bernice Christian, Kingsport; two step sons and step daughters-in-law, Harold and Earline Christian, Anthony and Penny Christian, all of Church Hill; two step daughters and step son-in-law, Shelby and Truman Curtis, Surgoinsville, Linda Arnold, Church Hill; two grandsons, Scott and Joey Christian; twelve step grandchildren, Daniel, Scott, Tim and Shane Christian, Lora Merrill, Melissa Taylor, Amy Vaughan, Rhonda McNally, Tammy Weaver, Steven Smith, Joey Arnold and Rebecca Lester, four great grandchildren, nineteen step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews

Pallbearers will be Joey Arnold, R. Scott Christian, Joey Christian, J. Scott Christian, Michael Christian, Gordon Christian, Tim Christian and Butch McNally.
