Winton C. Seaver, 58
CHURCH HILL - Winton C. Seaver, 58, of 107 Seaver Avenue, went home to be with the Lord, Monday (December 18, 2006) following a seven year battle with Lou Gehrigs disease.
Winton was a life long resident of Church Hill and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Church Hill. He was a retired employee of the US Postal Service. Winton sang for many years with the Crusaders Quartet where he sing baritone and was the pianist for the group.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottie H. Sr., and Blanche Cassell Seaver.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Dempsey Seaver, Church Hill; three sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron and Laurie Seaver, Raleigh, NC; Adrian and Heather Seaver, Huntsville, AL; Alan Seaver, Church Hill; one grandson, Caleb Seaver; seven brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and JoAnn Seaver, Charlotte, NC; Hugh H. Jr. and Glenda Seaver, Kingsport; James and Susie Seaver, Rogersville; George Seaver, Carl and Norma Seaver, Robert Seaver and Randall Seaver, all of Church Hill; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and James Wagers, Church Hill; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Church Hill and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Derek Bell, the Rev. Mike Stout and the Rev. Jim Manis officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.
The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to the building fund of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Church Hill.

Alma Holt, 79
CHURCH HILL - Alma Ruth Alley Holt, 79, passed away Thursday, (December 21, 2006) at Indian Path Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Alma was a life long resident of Hawkins County. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and taught Sunday School and led singing at Mt. Zion Methodist Church for many years. She and her late husband were part of the original Mt. Zion Quartet. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church where she and her late husband attended in the later years of their life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Greene Holt in August of 2001, her parents, James Luther and Martha Burke Alley, as well as all her siblings preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Ronnie Larkins, Church Hill; Margaret and Grady Elmer Dockery, Mount Carmel; Judy and Richard Dean, Surgoinsville; grandaughters, Rachel Livenhood and husband, Todd, Amanda Prillhart and husband, Bradley; great grandsons, Christian Carter and Sean Andrew Prillhart; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Gale Holt, Surgoinsville; Elmer Kay Holt, Church Hill; special sister-in-law, Lillie Holt, Eidson, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Steve Holt officiating, burial will follow in Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Phillis Ann Leeper, 67
SURGOINSVILLE: Phyllis Ann Leeper, 67, of 145 Watterson Gap Road, passed away Thursday (December 22, 2006) at Indian Path Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Leeper was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Fudges Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, T. W. Mitchell, three brothers, Jerry Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell and Billy Mitchell, one sister, Lena Cox.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh Kenneth Leeper, Surgoinsville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Ricky Lynn Leeper, Gray, TN; Jeffrey Scott and Melissa Leeper, Surgoinsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Roy Monroe, Surgoinsville; four grandchildren, Christopher, Hannah and Ashley Leeper and Ryan Monroe; one great grandson, Jake Ryan Monroe; three sisters, Inez Slemp, Surgoinsville; Linda Manriquez, Laural, MD; Bobbie Fairall, Savage, MD; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charlie Eberhart and the Rev. Randy Lantz officiating, burial will follow in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Quentin Samuel Castle, Sr., 87
CHURCH HILL - Quentin Samuel Castle, Sr., 87, died peacefully, Tuesday (December 26, 2006) with his wife, Nyrell Edwards Castle, at his side.
Born in Nickelsville, Virginia, Mr. Castle lived in Coeburn, Virginia for many years and was a resident of Church Hill since August of 1962. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.
He was an electrician at American Saint Gobain, retiring in 1985 after 23 years of service. He had previously worked with automatic phonographs and household appliance repair. He was known to his family and friends as a man who could fix anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Houston and Callie Frances Dean Castle, brothers, Walter Castle, Ernest Castle and M. H. Castle and sister, Rosa Mae Robinson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nyrell Edwards Castle, his Coeburn High School sweetheart; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Bill Kiser, Fayetteville, NC; Anne and Jim Stokes, Sr., Hendersonville, NC; one son, Quentin (Skip) Castle, Jr., Lexington, KY; daughter-in-law, Connie Burke Castle, Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Kim Abelson and husband, Mark, Greeneville, TN; Jim Stokes, Jr. and wife, Laura, Columbus, OH; Kelly Kiser and Scott Stokes, both of San Francisco, CA; Leigh-Anne Cumbee and husband, Mike, Hoover, AL; Brooke Russell and husband, Darrell, Gray, TN; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Velma Castle, Kingsport; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Greenwood cemetery in Coeburn, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary bearers will be members of the Men's #1 Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church.
The family requests that any remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.

Eva Mae Simpson, 94
ROGERSVILLE – Eva Mae Simpson, 94, of 919 Grassy Creek Road, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday (December 26, 2006) at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Simpson was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Cedar’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ransey Dow Simpson, two sons, Roy and Glen Simpson, her parents, Joe and Fannie Hickman Harris, two brothers, Willie and Johnny Harris, three sisters, Ida Yankee, Zora Booker and Eddie Harris.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Ruth and Johnny Jones, Columbus, OH; Edna Fletcher, Surgoinsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Vivian Simpson, Church Hill; Vernon and Bonnie Simpson, Rogersville; Russell and Margaret Simpson, Port Clinton, OH; 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Friday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Webb and the Rev. Dave Morelock officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A. M. at Harris cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scottie Simpson, Mack Fletcher, Mitch Ward, Mike Ward, Tim Jones and Shane Hutchins.
Honorary bearers will be Don Kiser, Roger Jones, Dale Simpson, Dow Simpson and Tim Henard.

David Edward Caldwell, 37
CHURCH HILL - David Edward Caldwell, 37, of 385 River Road, passed away Sunday, (December 31, 2006) at Indian Path Medical Center following an apparent heart attack.
David was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Indian Ridge Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Beckner Caldwell, sister, Traci Caldwell, paternal grandfather, Mossie Caldwell, maternal grandparents, Ezra and June Rutledge Beckner, paternal great grandmother, Mary Caldwell, paternal great grandparents, George and Clara Edens.
He is survived by his father and step mother, Michael Edward and Phyllis Caldwell, Church Hill; one brother, Michael Scott Caldwell, Church Hill; grandmother, Helen Caldwell, Church Hill; two step brothers, Chad Davis, Kingsport; Brad Davis, Church Hill; special aunt and uncle, Pam and Johnny Hood, Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; special friend, Pamela Tipton.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of his father.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ron Grimes officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Hill cemetery.

Florence Lucille Potts, 89
CHURCH HILL - Florence Lucille Potts, 89, of 479 Sensabaugh Hollow Road, passed away Wednesday (January 3, 2006) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.
Miss. Potts was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Ross Camp Ground United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elsea Dougherty Potts and sister, Pearl Hatcher.
Survivors include her extended family, Mrs. Margaret Hilton and family.
Calling hours are from 6 to 7 P.M. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Friday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
