Edward C. Christian, 74
Mount Carmel, Tn. - Mr. Edward C. Christian age 74, of 600 Rose Lane, Mount Carmel passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Christian was born in Hawkins County, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in Vietnam. He was retired from Arcadia Graphics with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Crosswell Baptist Church in Sumter, S.C. and attended the Liberty Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Mount Carmel. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Clay Masonic Lodge # 386 and the Jericho Shrine Temple.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Euna K. Christian. His parents, Gale and Ruth Clonce Christian. Brother, Robert Christian, Jr.. Nephew, Ronnie Christian and niece, Linda Barnnett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Fay Bowlin Christian of the home. One son, Edward C. Christian, Jr. of Lancing, Tn.. Daughters, Teresa Culbertson and Melanie Crawford of Church Hill. 2 Step sons, Scott Dorton and wife Cathy of Church Hill, Jason Dorton and wife Deana of Church Hill. His loving grandchildren, Jacob Christian, Matthew Shannon, Austin Crawford, Tira Culbertson, Luke and Eli Dorton and Ben Dorton. Great grandson, Bodie Christian. Sisters, Dorothy Hester of Winston Salem, N.C., Louise Gendron and husband Ed of Beckly, West Virginia, Alma Bishop of Kingsport, Jessee Gillenwater and husband John of Mount Carmel, JoAnn Honaker and husband Richard of Rogersville. Several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Gilreath officiating. Masonic services will follow the funeral Service with Masonic Rites conducted by the Clay Masonic Lodge # 386.
Military graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens with Military rites conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard.

Grace Boyd Taylor, 93
SURGOINSVILLE- Grace Boyd Taylor, passed away suddenly Saturday (January 6, 2006) at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ural Ward where she had made her home for the past five years.
Mrs. Taylor was a life long resident of Hawkins County. She was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Thomas Henry and Merinda Alvis Boyd. She was a faithful member of Elm Springs United Methodist Church and had recently attended Phipps Bend Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Taylor, brothers, Guy Boyd and Clyde Boyd, sisters, Kathleen Bailey, Annie Jenkins, Mary Hagood, Nettie Davis and Fannie Boyd, step great grandson, Gavin Arnold.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Ward and husband, Ural, Surgoinsville; Joan Taylor Freeman and husband, Jerry, one son, Larry Taylor and wife, Charlene, Church Hill; 4 grandchildren, Scott Taylor and wife, Lisa, Aaron Hartsock and wife, Amy, Angela Ward Pruett and husband, Payton, Jonathan Dykes; 2 great grand daughters, Shyanne Taylor and Zoe Hartsock; 5 step-grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her daughter, Betty Ward.
Services will be conducted Monday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. George Winegar, the Rev. Chris Castle and the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Elm Springs cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Freeman, Sr., Ural Ward, Payton Pruett, Scott Taylor, Aaron Hartsock and Jonathan Dykes.
The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to Elm Springs cemetery Fund, C/O Frank Marsh, 337 Adam Ave., Church Hill, TN 37642

Tommy Larkin, 67
CHURCH HILL - Thomas Larkin, 67, of 516 Tipton Lane, went home to be with the Lord, Monday (February 26, 2007) at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Larkin was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of General Shale and was a veteran of the US Marine Corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Herbert L. & Eunice McCrary Larkins; father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Roy Shields and Nellie Mae Caldwell.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Caldwell Larkin, Church Hill; two daughters, Marilyn Ball and Michelle Rush, both of Church Hill; six grandchildren, Brandon Ball and wife, Brenda, Shannon Ball, Crystal Jarvis and husband, Mike, Alicia Plummer, Beth Harrell and Dakota Rush; six great grandchildren, Sylvia Ball, Stephen Jarvis, Kyle Plummer, Brandon Ball, Jr., Skyler McGhee and Heather McGhee; one sister, Rhonda Barber, Church Hill; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Andy Sensabaugh, Rev. Rick Vanoy and the Rev. Randy Barron officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jarvis, Gary Housewright, Gary Knowles, Travis Barrett, Shannon Ball and Tim Greene.
Honorary bearers will be Gene Ball, Freddy Carter, J. Dishner and Joe Walters.

Ethel J. Wolfe, 75
KINGSPORT - Ethel J. Wolfe, 75, passed away Thursday (March 1, 2007) at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Wolfe was a native of Scott County, Virginia but had spent most of her adult life in Kingsport. She was a retired employee of Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Wolfe, grandson, Chad Wolfe and great grandchildren, Noah and Summer Wolfe, her parents, Isaac H. and Myrtle Fuller Peters, two brothers, Curt and Junior Peters, sisters, Betty Brooks, Vicky Ashworth and Peggy Brooks.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Edward and Sharon Wolfe, Marietta, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Ed Allen, Rogersville; Joyce Sebastian, Bristol, TN; and Sandra and Norman Lifford, Church Hill; 6 grandchildren, Chris and Jessica Allen, Stephen Sebastian, Alan Wolfe and Dustin and Matthew Lifford; 4 great grandchildren, Kira Lifford, Thomas Lifford, Andrew Naylor and Victoria Cradic; three brothers, Jack Peters, Joe Peters and Charlie Peters, all of Kingsport; one sister, Martha Dalton, Blountville; severa nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her daughter, Sandra Lifford, 710 Okolona Road, Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Minister Robert Tate officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oak Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Allen, Stephen Sebastian, Alan Wolfe, Dustin Lifford, Matthew Lifford, Andrew Naylor.

CHURCH HILL - Houston Cabet Drake, 2 months old, of 929 Old Union Road, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center .
Survivors include his mother and father, Ashley Danielle Drake and Chad Ambrose Dennison, Church Hill; step-father, Daniel Ryan Greene; sister, Kyleigh Nevaeh-Reighn Drake; maternal grandparents, Susan Lynn Sumner and Dwayne Sumner; maternal grandfather, Charles Kenneth Ramey; maternal great grandparents, Roy and Nellie Scyphers; paternal Great Grandmother, Deloris Sumner; aunts, Amanda Renee’ Cole, Kristy Jo Tuggle, Kathy Ann Clark; uncles, Timothy (TJ) Drake, Bobby Lee Cole, III, Sam Keller Clark, Jr., Grady Price Mask, Brandon Lynn Ramey and Joshua Wayne Morelock; special family, Impala Hope Cole, Haylee Chevelle Cole, Devon Lee Mask and Makayla, Ashbie Mask, Beth and Freddie Lane, Amber Weatherly, Kayla Weatherly, Britney Lane, Beulah Jones, Karen Laster and Richard Laster.

E. B. Bridges, Jr., 74
CHURCH HILL - Ethan Beecher Bridges, Jr., 74, completed his journey, Friday (March 9, 2007) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Bridges was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Church Hill where he was a member of the worship choir, chairman of facilities committee, communications committee, Cub Scout Committee, vice chairman of Administration Board. He was a member of Sequoyah Council for 25 years, serving as Cub Master, Scout Master of Troop 153 and Troop 285, committee chairman for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts Unit Commission, completed Wood Badge in 1982 and earned Pioneer Award and had just received the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of Wednesday Crew at Camp Davy Crockett. He was a member of Clay Masonic Lodge # 386 and Fairview Chapeter # 80, Order of Eastern Star. He was retired from AFG and the International Brothers Electrical Workers # 934.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E. B. Sr., and Lois Roark Bridges, one sister, Gertrude Davis, maternal grandparents, Samuel and Effie Jane Kirkpatrick Roark, paternal grandparents, Hugh Nelson and Effie Swatzell Bridges.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Marjorie Conduff Bridges, Church Hill; two sons, Junes (Jay) Bridges and Hugh Roark Bridges, both of Church Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Dooley, Kingsport; two amazing grandsons, Kohl Bryant Dooley and Kaden Eli Dooley; one sister, Elizabeth Rayburn, Hattiesburg, MS; brothers-in-law, Dr, James T. Davis, Bill Conduff and Wayne Conduff; two nieces, Jamie Johnson and Tammie Davis; three nephews, Bill Rayburn, Ray Rayburn and Sam Rayburn; two aunts, Agnes Yates and Louise Roark.
Calling hours are from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church of Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Sunday at 7:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Ramsey officiating. A Masonic Memorial Service conducted by Clay Masonic Lodge will follow the service.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at McKinney cemetery in Rogersville.
Pallbearers will be Richard Britton, Crockett Lee, John Lee, Larry Rogers, Steve Newland, Tim Lumpkins, Dick Laymaster and Rodney Condruff.
The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Building Fund of the First United Methodist Church of Church Hill.

James Douglas Christian, 60
CHURCH HILL - James Douglas Christian, 60, passed away Wednesday (March 14, 2007) at his home.
Mr. Christian was a life long resident of Hawkins County and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Morgan and Margaret Scism Christian, one sister, Joyce Trent.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy Douglas and Rhonda Christian, Terry and Pamela Christian and Travis Christian, all of Church Hill; 6 grandchildren, James Christian, Aslinn Christian, Devin Christian, Ashley Christian, Toshia Christie, B. J. Stroberg; 1 great granddaughter, Alexis Christie; brothers, twin brother, Bill Christian and wife, Nellie, Surgoinsville; Bob Christian, Rogersville; sister, Lucille Davis and husband, Bob, Surgoinsville; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 12 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the home of his son, Travis Christian, 1023 Cedar Hills Drive, Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. William Truman will officiate and burial will follow in Christian Bend Community cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Christian, Jason Christie, Tony Christie, Tracy Christian, Troy Davis, Michael Davis, Brian Kinkead and Michael Ward.
