The chapel service, conducted by Brother Kenneth Bowen and Brother Danny Sellars, is 2 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009. Harris, Gladys Lorene
Born: Tuesday, January 18, 1927 - Died: Wednesday, September 3, 2008
Mrs. Gladys Harris passed away on September 3, 2008 at age 81. She was a bookkeeper for Hankins, Jewell and Johnson for 25 years and a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. The family will be accepting friends at Sellars Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. until service. John E. Peklinsky
Died: Friday, April 18, 2008
PEKLINSKY, John E., aka “John Peck”, “Beep” and “JP”, age 49, passed away April 18, 2008. Preceded in death by parents, William and Vera Mae Peklinsky; sister, Gina Jill Peklinsky. Mr. Peklinsky is survived by wife, Jennifer Harshman Peklinsky; children, Cody, Meghan, Shasta, Caleb and Conner Charlton; brothers, William (Donna) Peklinsky and James “Jamie Peck” (Monica) Peklinsky; nephews, Liam, Nathan and Alex Peklinsky. John was a member of the Cornerstone Church. He was a former drummer for country stars David Ball and Sara Evans touring the US and Europe. He also played with Wild Cherry “Play That Funky Music”, The US KIDs, Hey Norton and the Skip Peck Trio. John started playing drums at the age of 8 and at one time was the youngest member of the American Federation of Musicians. He also spent 2 weeks with jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. Services will be Monday, April 21st at 7 pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Jonathan McClanahan officiating. Pallbearers Zane Baxter, John Zovath, Jamie Peklinsky, Caleb Charlton, Conner Charlton, and Brian Mabry. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, April 20th 5 – 8 pm and Monday, April 21st 5 – 7 pm. Essie Belle Bowen
Died: Tuesday, March 18, 2008
BOWEN, Essie Belle, born July 31, 1913 daughter of Lee and Susie Griffin, departed this life on March 18, 2008 at the age of 94. Ms Bowen was the owner of Bowen’s Grocery from 1961 to 1976 and she was a member of the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by husband, Pirt Bowen; son, Joe Frank Bowen; sisters, Annie Lee Riggan and Mary Jane Stewart; and brother, Arnold Griffin. Ms Bowen is survived by one daughter, Peggy Lee Moore of Mt. Juliet, TN; four grandchildren, Belinda Lee Woodard of Chocowinity, NC, Joanna (Nickey) Walters of Lebanon, TN, Frankie Bowen of Coopertown, TN, and James Alexander Silcox of Springfield, TN; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 21st at 11 am at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. David Shannon officiating. Interment icon will follow the service at Leeville cemetery. DAVIDSON COUNTY - PISCHKE, Joy A. Kelsay Martin, age 69 of Mt. Juliet passed away on January 8, 2009. Preceded in death by children, Alma Paige and Hugh Doyle Martin; and fiancé, Jerry Smith. Survived by children, Renee (Bill) McMurray, Tanya (Terry) Crawford, and Jude (Shawna) Pischke; sisters, Nelda Toler and Gayle Fish; grandchildren, Ashley Bean, Justin Crawford, Paige Crawford, Mary Pischke and Hunter Pischke; and great-granddaughter, Seria Bean. Joy was born in Kingston, TN. She fulfilled a dream with her own restaurant in Lavergne, TN, Joy’s Kitchen. She later travelled as a courier all around the US. A memorial service will be held at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet on Wednesday, January 14th at 7pm with visitation with the family from 5pm until service time. E. Odell Smith
Died: Tuesday, March 25, 2008
SMITH, E. Odell, age 82 of Mt. Juliet, March 25, 2008. Mr. Smith received his Masters Degree from George Peabody College in Business Administration. He was a Graduate of Mt. Juliet High School-Class of 1943 where he later served as a teacher. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He retired from Dupont as an accounting supervisor, and after 22 years of service, Mr. Smith retired as President/CEO from Old Hickory Credit Union. He also served on the Board of Directors for the CUNA Mutual Insurance Group. He was a member of the Center Chapel Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by wife, Annice Smartt Smith; parents, Pete and Lydia Smith; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Mr. Smith is survived by daughters, Kathy Smith and Karen (Jeff) Richardson; granddaughter, Ashley Richardson; nephews, Darrell (Lou) Smith and Don ( Austelle) Smartt; close friend and relative, Kate Bland; longtime companion, Diane Lish; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Friday, March 28th, 1:00p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. Interment icon will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
