Joshua O'Neal Adams, 22, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 4, 2004.
Adams was born Jan. 13, 1982, in Nashville, to Jeff Adams and Rhonda Jones Adams.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Jones; and great grandparents, David and Daisy Jones and James and Lula Rollins.
Survivors include his daughter, Daisy Adams, of Nashville; his parents, Jeff and Rhonda Adams, of Sparta; one sister, Mandy Adams, of Nashville; grandparents, Juanita Jones, of Nashville, Jewell and Serena Adams, of Dectur, Ala.; one nephew, Jackson Gill, of Nashville; and uncle, Donald Jones Jr., of Nashville.
Arrangements: Services were at 1 p.m., Aug. 7, 2004, at Hunter Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New Bon Air cemetery. James Hambrick officiated.

Vaughn Fisher Carter
Vaughn Fisher Carter, 84, of Walling, passed away Aug. 5, 2004.
Carter was born April 6, 1920, in White County, to Charlie Carter and Lola Fisher Carter.
He had been a farmer.
Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Erline Bright Carter; one sister, Thelma Carter; and four brothers, Donald Carter, Horace Carter, Gene Carter and Ralph Carter.
Survivors include five sisters, Zelna Carter, of Walling, Leta Fox, of Hermitage, Betty Hughes, of Franklin, Viola Beswick, Melba Eads, both of Scottsburg, Ind.; one brother, Glen Carter, of Walling; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Services were at 3 p.m., Aug.7, 2004, at Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Pisgah cemetery. Bobby Cloyd officiated.

James Drew Freeman Sr.
James Drew Freeman Sr., 79, of Sparta, passed away June 3, 2004.
Freeman was born July 13, 1924, in Jonesboro, Ga.
Freeman served in the US Navy during World War II.
He was retired from Thomas Industries.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Groomis, Francis Hunter and one brother, Jesse Bryan Freeman Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Zella Wise Freeman; three children, Josie Dunbar Freeman, James Drew Freeman Jr., Nell Freeman Russell; two grandchildren, Erin Russell, William Russell; and two sisters, Marion Goines and Virginia Godfrey.
Arrangements: Services were at 2 p.m., June 6, 2004, at Thurman Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Highland cemetery. Bro. Dennis Clark officiated.

Delia Belle Abston
Delia Belle Abston, 92, of Sparta, passed away June 4, 2004.
Abston was born Sept. 11, 1911, in Putnam County, to Rufus Smith and Mary Burnett Smith.
She was a homemaker.
Abston was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Abston; one sister, Dora Smith; and five brothers, Jim Smith, John Smith, Walter Smith, Dalton Smith and Willie Smith.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Donald Gentry, of Sparta; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Judy Abston, of Higginsport, Ohio, Ronnie and Gail Abston, of Chattanooga, Jerry and Sarah Abston, of Cookeville; seven grandchildren, Chris Abston, Jerry Dale Abston, Scot Abston, Wayne Abston, Jeff Gentry, Eddie Gentry, Barry Hensley; and nine great grandchildren.

Eva Claudine Price Guilbault
Eva Claudine Price Guilbault, 50, of Rochester Hills, Mich., passed away May 6, 2004.
Guilbault was born Feb. 6, 1954, in White County, to Thurman and Charlene Price.
Guilbault was retired from Ford Motor Company and had been active in the Corvette Club and worked with the leader dog program and presented dogs to the blind.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William Earl Wilson, Mattie Wheeler, Buck and Flossie Price.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Guilbault, of Michigan; parents, Thurman and Sarah Price, of Sparta, and Charlene and Jim Markum, of Madison; two brothers, Thomas T. Price, of Sparta, Jeff Price and his wife Carrie, of Haleyville, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Alex Price, Nicole Price and Eli Price; cousins Tom McCurley, of Birmingham, Mich., Carl Wilson, of Uplands, Calif; and peekapoo dog, Eric.
Arrangements: Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m., June 12, 2004, at Hunter Funeral Home.

Lonnie Earl Colwell Jr., 39, of Cookeville, passed away June 6, 2004.
Colwell was a factory worker.

Franklin Levon Ballew, 59, of Sparta, passed away May 27, 2004.
Ballew was born July 25, 1944, in White County, to Joe Washington Ballew and Annie Lou Simmons Ballew.
He was a carpet layer.
Ballew was preceded in death by his parents; and two children, Kenny Ballew and Kathy Ballew.
Survivors include three daughters, Tabatha Dodson, Neva Frasier, both of Sparta, Jannie Randolph, of Pace, Fla.; one son, Joe Franklin Ballew, of Sparta; special friend, Brenda Green, of Sparta; five brothers, Jay Clinton Ballew, of Washington, Earl Thomas Ballew, of Sparta, Bobby Joe Ballew, Lee H. Ballew, Rufus S. Ballew, all of Rock Island; one sister, Doris Ann Adams, of McMinnville; half brother, Jack Ballew, of Sparta; two half sisters, Zlda Christine Horton, Lillie Mae Tollison, both of Quebeck; and thirteen grandchildren.

Polly Van Strickland, 42, of Lake Hamilton, Fla., passed away Feb. 14, 2004.
Strickland was born Dec. 15, 1961, in Holden, W. Va., to James D. Ferrell and Jean V. Hughes Ferrell.
She had been a homemaker.
Strickland was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband Steve Strickland, of Lake Hamilton, Fla.; mother, Jean Ferrell, of Sparta; one daughter, Laura McClellan, of Clearwater, Fla.; one stepson, Nicholas Strickland, of Lake Wales, Fla.; two sisters, Dorles Abraham, of Valley View, Ohio, Debra Marcum, of Delharton, W. Va.; and three brothers, Darrell Ferrell, of Valley View, Ohio, James D. Ferrell Jr, of Haines City, Fla., and Oliver Ferrell, of Sparta.

Gladys Louise Thomas, 78, of Cookeville, passed away Feb. 10, 2004.
Thomas was born Feb. 3, 1926, in Putnam County, to Ira Vaughn and Pauline Hunter Vaughn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Thomas; one sister, Ruby Brown; and one brother, Arlin Vaughn.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Glenda Thomas; one sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Arnold Nash; and two sisters-in-law, Rose Vaughn and Johnnie Thomas, all of Cookeville.

Woodrow Webb
Woodrow 'Woody' Webb, 81, of Nashville, passed away Feb. 11, 2004.
Webb was born in Overton County to Shirley Webb and Elizabeth Webb.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for the Detroit City Police Department from 1949 - 1959. He also owned and operated Webb's Department Store in Sparta until his retirement.
Webb was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances M. Ridge Webb; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn Webb, Joan and Charlie Collier; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Sandra Webb, Don and Alicia Webb, Richard and Louise Webb; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister and three brothers.
Arrangements: Services were at 11:30 a.m., Feb. 14, 2004, at Woodlawn Chapel of Roses. Bronson Netterville officiated.
