Gary Wayne Edge

Gary Wayne Edge, 56, of Joelton, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was born April 26, 1947, in Chickamauga, Ga. He was employed at Shrum Auto Parts and Salvage, Ridgetop.

Remains were at Anderson and Garret Funeral Home for visitation. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Bryan Chapel, Wilson Funeral Home, Chickamauga, Ga. Burial was at Bankhead cemetery, Mentone, Ala.

He was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Jennifer Pullen; father, Vernon Edge.

He is survived by wife, Dianne Hensley Edge, Joelton; daughter, Jill Lacy of Ringgold, Ga.; grandsons, Aaron and Alex Lacy of Ringgold, Ga.; mother, Mrs. Phoebe Edge of Georgia; sisters, Moni Owen, Rome, Ga., and Amy Tipton, Ringgold, Ga.

Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, was in charge of arrangements.

Clyde Eugene Holloway

Clyde Eugene (Gene) Holloway, 74, Leland, N.C. formerly of Ashland City, went to be with his Lord on Aug. 3, 2003. "Doc" Holloway was a loyal employee of State Industries for 36 years. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland City.

A celebration of his life will be held at Boyd's Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, and services will be Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons.

He was preceded in death by brother, Boone, and grandson, Johnny Ray Holloway.

He was a loving husband, who was survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosie Nell Moore Holloway. He was a loving father and will be missed by his children: Carolyn Wagner, Clarksville, Kenneth and Tony of Ashland City, Johnny of Murfreesboro, Sandy Hylton, Virginia Beach, Va., and Ruby Holmes of Lemand, N.C.; also by his grandchildren: Richard Hylton, Rebecca Wagner, Elizabeth Hylton, Roy Wagner III, Brandon White and Michael and David and Kayla Holloway.

Also missing him will be his 10 brothers and sisters, Rev. Billy G. Holloway, Eddie Holloway, Benny Holloway, Ann Hall, Essie Scales, Betty Brown, Elizabeth Rhodes, Rosie May Anderson, Clydene Overstreet and Beverly Warwick, all from the Tennessee area.

Boyd Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Vivian Everett Hudgens

Vivian Everett Hudgens, 103, died at her home in Ashland City July 28, 2003. Mrs. Hudgens was a faithful member of the Ashland City United Methodist Church and Fellowship Sunday School Class. Special thanks to her friends, Tommy and Glenda Jacoway, who made it possible for her to attend church until this past December, 2002.

Funeral services were held at the Ashland City United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Pete Furnier and Bro. Cliett Goodpasture officiating. Active pallbearers included Tom Morris, Dan Morris, David Hudgens, Judy Felker, Jeff Hudgens, Jim Hudgens, Raymond Nash, Randy Nash, David Nash and Tommy Jacoway. Honorary pallbearers included Paul Morris, Terry Felker, Butch Jacoway, Paul Jacoway, John Jacoway, Henry B. Pace, members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, Haymore Vaughn, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Everett, Doris Gore, Pauline Rigsby, Rev. and Mrs. Don Elmore, Rev. and Mrs. Joe Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. David Pursley, George Keeler, Chester Pikus, Bruce Gibbs, John Clark, Joe Davis, Walter Demonbreum, Lewis Collier, Billy Sykes, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Ayers, Joe Malinoski and Bill Wilkerson. Interment icon was in the Forrest Hill cemetery in Ashland City. Memorials may be made to Ashland City Methodist Church, 103 Oak Street, Ashland City 37015.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Durham Hudgens Sr.; her parents, Clarence and Eska (Kitchen) Everett; and three brothers, James, Ward and Charles Everett.

Mrs. Hudgens is survived by son, Thomas D. Hudgens Jr.; three daughters, Mildred (Paul) Morris of Ashland City, Mary Gladys Nash and Juanita Eller, both of Nashville; one sister, Mary Frances Wright of Nashville; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephew and two special caregivers, Patricia Flener and Tammy Phillips.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Peggy Walters Stratton

Peggy Walters Stratton passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Centennial Medical Center, Nashville. She was a member of the Tuesday Night Bridge Club for 58 years.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the Ashland City United Methodist Church, with Brother Pete Furnier officiating. Visitation was in the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home, Ashland City. Pallbearers were Joe Roberts, Otis Nichols, Bobby Balthrop, Mike Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Mark Shearon, Mike Jones, Dick Carus and Cavin Houghland. Honorary pallbearers were Ashland City Lions Club members. Burial was in the Forrest Hill cemetery, Ashland City.

She is survived by her husband, Franceway Cossitt Stratton III of Ashland City; sons, Franceway Stratton IV (Charlotte) of Smyrna, Steven Stratton (Penny) of Ashland City and Kip Stratton (Ramona) of Goodlettsville; daughter, Shelly (Mike) Jones of Bellevue; Bess Stratton of Ashland City; devoted friend, Thelma Wilson; sister, Dorris Raye Walker. Weatherford. Texas; grandchildren: Elizabeth Stratton, Katherine Houghland, Kayla Stratton, Austin Stratton, Kelsey Stratton, Stratton Jones, Parker Jones, Grayson Jones; great-grandchild, Tyler Stratton.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Deanna Rhea Baker

Deanna Rhea Baker, born June 19, 1937, passed away on July 8, 2003, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. She is retied from BellSouth.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 12, 2003, from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with pastor Charles Ray and Brother Jack Mraz officiating. Burial followed at the Mt. Olivet cemetery in Nashville, Family and friends served as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Scottsboro Methodist Church, 5034 Old Hydes Ferry Pike, Nashville 37218.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bessie May Hite.

She is survived by her husband Billy Baker of Ashland City; four sons, Craig (Natalie) Baker of Murfreesboro, Keith (Cindy) Baker of Mt. Juliet, Barry (Statia) Baker of Smyrna and Brian (Amy) Baker of Nashville; grandchildren Chance Baker, Christian Baker, Kaitlyn Baker and Jenna Baker; and a sister, Martha Grays of Memphis.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Nelda Marie Bollinger

Nelda Marie Bollinger, born Oct. 13, 1927, in Calhoun County, Miss., died Tuesday, July 8, 2003. She was a homemaker until the late 1960s when she became employed as a waitress at Casey's Restaurant, formerly located on 12th Avenue South in Nashville. After that time she worked for the State of Tennessee, General Services Division, first working in the cafeteria of the Andrew Jackson Building, later doing general janitorial work at Capital Hill, War Memorial and Legislative Plaza Buildings.

Mrs. Bollinger, her husband and family lived in Richmond, Va., for a number of years where they were active members of Branches Baptist Church. On moving to Nashville in 1966 they became members of Immanuel Baptist Church, where they helped in the starting of new local mission work, now known as Bellevue Baptist Church. The first meeting place for this church was in their new home in Bellevue. Moving later to Cheatham County, she and her husband helped in the formation of a new local church of the area, now known as First Baptist Church of Pleasant View.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Opal H. Bollinger, and her daughter, Dianne Bollinger.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Sanders of Chapmansboro; grandson, Lee Howington of Nashville; sister, Ruth Surtain of Hillcrest Healthcare, Ashland City; brother, James W. Patterson and wife Maggie Patterson of Vienna, Va.; one niece, Wendy Patterson of Virginia; and nephews, Michael and Christopher Patterson of Virginia; and the loving church family of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant View.

Funeral services were held at the Pleasant View First Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 11 with Brother George Clark officiating. Pallbearers were the deacons of Pleasant View First Baptist Church. Burial was at the Cheatham Memorial Gardens, Pleasant View. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Middle Tennessee Chapter.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert F. Branan

Robert F. Branan, 58, of 100 N. Grant Avenue, Kittanning, Penn., died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at his residence. He was born Aug. 24, 1944, in Kittanning to Frank J. and Doris Jean (Campbell) Branan. He was a truck driver, a Marine veteran and a past member of the Kittanning Men's Club. His hobby was gardening.

Funeral services were held at the Kennedy and Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Avenue, Kittanning. Pastor Herbert C. Reefer of First Presbyterian Church, Ford City, Penn., officiated. Burial was in Kittanning cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl C. (Gilliland) Branan, whom he married Oct. 6, 1990; one son, Robert F. Branan Jr. of Ashland City; one daughter, Lisa Branan Rinehart, of Ashland City; two stepsons, James Grates of Kittanning and Timothy Grates of Worthington, Penn.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Rosalie) Brink of Worthington, Penn. Mrs. Leroy (Diane) Brink of Kittanning, Penn., and Mrs. Douglas (Linda) Shreffler of Ford City, Penn.; five grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren three brothers, Kenneth Branan of Home, Penn., Gary Branan of Adrian, Penn. and William Branan of NuMine, Penn., and four sisters, Anna Eva LeMasters of Metz, W.Va., Mrs. Edison (Karen) Miller and Mrs. Randy (Virginia) Paul, both of Ford City, Penn. and Mrs. Donald (Patricia) Shank of NuMine, Penn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lester Branan and Ronald Branan.

Arrangements were by Kennedy and Blodgett.

Mildred Dillingham Moore

Mildred Dillingham Moore, 80, died July 14, 2003.

She was preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Larry Law.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Moore; grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) Garrison, Treesa Law, Larry Law Jr.; sister, Dorothy Crouch; great-grandchildren, Resa and Jeffrey Garrison.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Joel Plunkett officiating. Interment icon will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Sanford Patterson, Chris Steward, Steve Swearengin, Wally Cagle, Gary Petty, Joel Lee Plunkett. Honorary pallbearers will be the members and friends of Kingston Springs Church of Christ. Visitation was held Tuesday 12-9 and will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. until service time at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9080 Highway 100.

Harpeth Hills Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Rita Faye Mulloy

Mrs. Rita Faye (Winstead) Mulloy, 34, a teacher assistant at West Cheatham Elementary School, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Mulloy and daughter, Caitlin Mulloy, both of Ashland City; her parents Donald and Doris (Moore) Winstead Sr. of Smyrna and two brothers, Donald and David Winstead of Smyrna.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, Rev. Paul Robert Gupton officiating. Pallbearers: James W. Williams, Ben A. Williams, Jeff Bagwell, Jimmy Harden, Jason Hoilman, David Mulloy and Dennis Mulloy. Interment: The Nicholson cemetery in Henrietta.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Mable I. Whitaker

Mable I. Whitaker, 76, of Joelton, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at her home. She was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Cheatham County. A loving mother and granny devoted to her family, she worked 13 years in the Metro School System.

She was preceded in death by husband, James "Bud" Whitaker; daughter, Kathy Taylor; mother, Josephine "Josie" Knight; father, Felix Knight, Sr.

She is survived by daughters, Rose "Sister" (Ray) Rose, Nashville, Janice Thomas, Goodlettsville, Kim (Ray) Butler, Antioch; sons, Howard (Carolyn) Whitaker, Columbus, Ohio, Stevie (Tami) Whitaker, Joelton, Roger Whitaker, Joelton; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sissy Woods, Nashville, Shirley Huffines, Joelton; Peggy Knight, Betty Hagewood, Frances Merryman, all of Hendersonville.

Services were held Friday, July 11, 2003, at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, with Bro. David Royalty officiating. Pallbearers: Billy Whitaker, Chris Rose, Michael Rose, Ken Hopkins, Bubba Hutchison, Carlton Newland. Burial was in the Joelton Hills Memory Gardens, Joelton.

Wilma Angeline Bouldin

Wilma Angeline Bouldin, Sept. 5, 1912-July 4, 2003) passed away on July 4, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She raised three children, taught school and was the backbone of the Bouldin's Department Store for 50 years. "Our mother always exhibited an example of the right way to behave; a Christian attitude that transcended to her students, family and friends. Growing up, all of the children hung out in our yard because Wilma welcomed all the neighborhood children to her house and into her life. Wilma and Wood recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. She gave so much and took so little. She put her friends, family and students before herself. Her Christian faith and leadership is embedded in the lives of all the people she touched."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Fletcher and Martha Ann Hart Stanley.

She is survived by her husband, Wood Clayton Bouldin, Jr. of Ashland City; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Helen Bouldin of Plano, Texas; daughters, Mayadair Kaiser and Carolyn Ann Holder and son-in-law Douglas Holder, Sr.; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Scott Wood Bouldin and April Kaiser; granddaughter, Amanda Cecilia Bouldin; grandson, John Tyler Wood Bouldin; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kerry Holder and Ron Sibold; grandson, Douglas Holder, Jr; great-granddaughter, Leanna Michelle Kaiser; great-grandson, Tristan Clay Kaiser; great-grandson, Christian Holder Jones; great-granddaughter, Lily Holder Sibold.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. from the Ashland City United Methodist Church in Ashland City with Brother Pete Furnier officiating. She was entombed in the Forest Hill Mausoleum in Ashland City. Family and friends served as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashland City United Methodist Church Building Fund.
