Christine Hunt

Christine Hunt, born March 8, 1926, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Centennial Hospital in Nashville.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Kelly Hunt, and by her parents, Eugene and Ethel Kelly.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Hunt, a daughter, Marsha J. Hunt of Pleasant View; a brother Elmer Kelley of Williamsport; sisters Adell Cates of Columbia, Mary Westmoreland of Primm Spring, Louise Beasley of Tyler, Texas; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Walker officiating. Burial followed in the United Methodist Church cemetery in Pleasant View. Her nephews served as pallbearers.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Katherine (Kayte) Joseph

Katherine (Kayte) Joseph, passed away on June 30, 2003. She was born March 22, 1917 in Ashland City.

She is preceded in death by her grandson, Mickey Watson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Karen Joseph, her daughter and son-in-law, Roseanna and Kelly Zadakaus, her sister Becky Walkowick, three grandchildren, one great-grandson and many wonderful friends. At her request her body will be cremated.

A memorial services was held in her memory at the Ashland City United Methodist Church, 103 Oak Street, Ashland City, on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at 2 p.m. Officiating was Brother Pete Furnier. Burial was private. Memorials in her memory may be made to the Ashland City United Methodist Church.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Cecil Jerome Walker

Cecil Jerome Walker, 91, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.

Services were held on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Wayne Wagner officiating. Burial was in the Cheatham Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents Bailey and Nora Hand Walker and his wife, Mattie Mae Brown Walker.

He is survived by a son, Billy B. (Geneva) Walker of Smyrna and a daughter, Sue W. Dayton of Pleasant View; four grandchildren, Kevin L. Walker of Huntsville, Ala., Michael D. Walker of Nashville, Shannon Teague of Nashville and Christy Braden of Wirtz, Va., also survive their grandfather along with nine great-grandchildren.

Austin and Bell Funeral Homes were in charge of arrangements.

Donald Ray Adamson

Donald Ray Adamson of Nashville and formerly of Ashland City, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2003, at home. He was a Church of Christ member.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, July 1, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. Burial followed in Felts cemetery, Ashland City. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

He is survived by brothers, Charles (Darlene) Adamson of Clarksville, John H. Adamson of Marion, Ohio, Billy R. Sellers of Fairview; sisters, Betty Jo Preston of Memphis, Elizabeth Adamson, Barbara Swift of Fairview.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Bailey

Gladys Bailey, 82, of Oswego, Ill., formerly of Big Sandy, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2003, at The Tillers Healthcare Residence in Oswego, Ill. She was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Andalusia, Ala., the daughter of William H. and Lela Lenora (Goolsby) Nixon.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2003, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, Ill., Interment icon was at Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery in Aurora, Ill.

She was united in marriage in 1945 to Pinson "Jack" Bailey and they spent the next 46 years of their lives together until his passing in 1991. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

During the 1950's, she was employed for 17 years at the Aurora Coat Factory, and served as its Union President. She and her husband for many years owned and operated the Bass Bay Resort in Tennessee. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Aurora, Ill.

She is survived by her children, Bill (Gloria) Bailey of Millington, Ill., Gladys (Willy) Parcus of Sandwich, Ill., and Debra (Dave) Wallace of Chapmansboro; her grandchildren, Bonnie Bailey, Dana (Lee) Pederson, Kelly Fritz, Lisa (Christopher) Vavrinek, Kristen Parcus, Amethyst Jones, Adam Jones, and Savanna Wallace; her great-grandchildren, La Sean, Amanda, Alex, Jasmine, Victor, Andrew, Michael, Vivian, Crystal, Melissa and Karen; and her sisters, Lois Jordan, Rosalie Hughes and Arlena Nichols; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack; and her sons, Jerry, Jim and George Bailey, infant; her brothers, Preston, Perry, Kenneth, Cecil, Quinton and Randal Nixon; and her sister, Lorena Kelly.

Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Homes.

Patsy Ruth Biggs

Patsy Ruth Biggs, 47, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at her home in Pleasant View. She was an employee of U.S. Bank for 29 years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at 4 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. George Clark officiating. Pallbearers were Brian Albright, Wade Drake, Ronnie Chamberlain, Randy Chamberlain, Don Balthrop and Wayne Head. Honorary pallbearers were the employees of the Pleasant View branch of U.S. Bank. Interment icon followed in Cheatham Memorial Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Barbara Head Drake.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wayne Biggs of Pleasant View; daughter, Valerie Biggs of Nashville; two brothers, Jeffrey C. Drake and Jerry E. Drake, both of Pleasant View.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Louie Maurice Binkley

Louie Maurice Binkley, 43, of Chapmansboro, died June 8, 2003. He was employed by US Corp of Engineers.

Services were held Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Cheatham County Funeral Home Chapel and conducted by Bro. George Clark. Friends served as pallbearers. Internment was at the Bearwallow cemetery.

He was preceded in death by father, Louie Binkley.

He is survived by mother, Jeanette Binkley of Chapmansboro; sister, Martha Dowlen of Ashland City; brother, Michael Binkley of Chapmansboro.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Ann
Nichols Carter

Mrs. Jerry Ann Nichols Carter, 60, beloved mother, grandmother and friend died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Memorial services were held Saturday, June 28, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. Pete Furnier officiating.

She is survived by daughter, Sherry Carter of Charlotte; son Denson Carter of Ashland City; one sister, Mary Ann Mitchell of Nashville; three grandchildren, Christopher Binkley of Nashville, Mandy Carter and Robert Carter of Texas and close family friend Christy Sturterant.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Elizabeth Sills Futrell

Elizabeth Sills Futrell, 91, of Nashville, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at West Meade Place, Nashville. A member of the Ashland City United Methodist Church, she was also a member of United Methodist Women, Missionary Society, Retired Teachers Association and Business and Professional Women's Club. She was the oldest living member of Linton Chapter #149 Order of Eastern Star having been a member for 55 years.

Services were held at Goodwin Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ky., Friday, June 27, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Michael Williams officiating. Interment icon was at East End cemetery, Cadiz, Ky. Pallbearers were Sam Brandon, M.C. Cothran, Jeff Loring, John Sills, Bailey Wimberley and Robert Wimberley. Terry Norman, pianist provided music.

She was preceded in death by husband, William Edward "Bill Ed" Futrell; father, William Franklin Sills and mother, Lou Bartee Sills.

She is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor Sills and Sam "F.L." Brandon, Ashland City; sister and brother-in-law, Louise Sills and Marshall "M.C." Cothran, Nashville and 10 nieces and nephews.

Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Dennis Kinder

James Dennis Kinder, 52, of Pleasant View, passed away at his home Saturday, June 28, 2003.

He is survived by sisters, Debbie Pruett, Flint, Mich., Teresa (John) McLean, Clio, Mich., Veronica (Dan) Lieter, Forked River, N.J., Laura (Dillard) Lewis, Charlotte, Karen (Bill) Becker, North Port, Fla.; brothers, Terry (Margaret) Kinder, Lansing, Kansas, David (Karen) Kinder, Muldraugh, Ky.; loving friends, Kurtis and Mary Halstead, Pleasant View, Russ and Brenda Morgan, Ashland City.

By his request, Mr. Kinder was cremated.

Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Robert Lawrence Lassiter

Robert Lawrence Lassiter, 62, of Cedar Hill, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at the Alvin C. York Medical Center, Murfreesboro. He was born May 14, 1941 in Davidson County, the son of Jacob Thomas Lassiter and Agnes Esther Huber Sweatt. He was a farmer and U.S. Air Force veteran.

Funeral services were conducted at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, Monday, June 30, 2003. Bro. Alex Lehneis officiated. Family served as pallbearers. Burial was at Middle Tennessee Veterans cemetery, McCrory Lane, Pegram.

He is survived by sister, Patricia (Terry) Sweatt Bunn, Cedar Hill, four nieces and four nephews.
