Mary Elizabeth Binkley

Mary Elizabeth Binkley, 89, passed away on March 30, 2003.

Services were held in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home on Monday, March 31, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Brother Cecil Boswell officiating. Burial followed in the Sycamore Chapel cemetery. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

She is survived by her sister, Gladys Newman of Ashland City, and several nieces and nephews.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Eugene Harry Walker

Eugene Harry Walker, 79, of Baxter passed away on May 22, 2003, at VA Hospital in Nashville. He was born in Arkansas on June 24, 1923. He is retired from the Sign Maintenance Business. He served in the Navy during WWII and was at Pearl Harbor.

The Full Military Honors Services were held on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 1 p.m. from Baxter Funeral Home, the body was cremated following the service.

Survivors are wife, Sylvia Walker of Baxter; two sons, William Walker of Missouri and Michael Walker of Baxter; brother, Bill Walker of Colorado, and many family and friends in Cheatham County.

Baxter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

David Joe Hay

David Joe Hay, 62, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Austin's Ruby Home for the Aged in Fredonia.

Graveside funeral services were held Monday, March 17, 2003, in the Providence cemetery located in Crockett Mills with Bro. Aubrey Hay officiating.

He was preceded in death by his father, Connie Hay, and his mother, Alene Smothers Hay.

He is survived by his brother, Aubrey Hay, sons, Mark and David Hay and daughter, Joy Hay.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.

Howard T. Hollis

Howard T. Hollis, 77, of Lenoir City and formerly of the Ashland City/Neptune Community, passed away suddenly, Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith. Hollis was a retired lock operator with T.V.A. Corp. of Engineers, working at several dams. He served in World War II with the U.S. Navy on the battleship New Jersey. He was a member of Amvets and V.F.W.

Funeral services were held at Click Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, March, 3, 2003, at 8 p.m. with Rev. A.J. Crawford and Ronnie Hatcher officiating. Graveside Services were held Tuesday, March 4, at 1 p.m. at Lakeview cemetery with full military honors conferred by V.F.W. Post 5160 and American Legion Posts #120 and #70.

He was preceded in death by son, Howard Anthony (Tony) Hollis; parents, brothers, Lewis Hollis and Benny Hollis of Ashland City.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Margaret Brown Hollis; children, Donna Mitchell and husband, Eugene of Vonore, Michael Lee Hollis of Lenoir City; step-daughters, Delores Smith of Knoxville, Deborah Murphy and husband, Michael of Knoxville and Pam McCurry of Eton, Ga.; grandchildren, Corey and Taylor Hollis, Tasha Cook, Telisha Genry, Tony Mitchell, Heather Margulies and Tori Leigh Moore; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Leigh Ann Moore and Morgan Brooke Moore; brother, Bill Hollis and wife, Joyce of Ashland City; sisters, Dot and husband, Jerry, Aileen Allen and Betty Sue Demonbreum.

Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City, is serving the family of Howard Hollis.

Huey Lee Lane

Huey Lee Lane, 70, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Baptist Hospital, Nashville.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Boyd officiating. Burial was in the Heads cemetery in Cedar Hill.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Lane, and his mother, Opha Bateman Lane.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Lane of Nashville, daughter, Shelia Templeton of Chesapeake, Va., and Mary Lee Lane of Nashville.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.

Douglas McWhorter

Douglas (Doug) McWhorter, 72, formerly of Ashland City, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2003. Bro. Doug was a minister of God.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 14, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Southside Church of Christ, 1551 Bell Road, Nashville, with Bros. Stan Hazlewood and Joe Grubbs officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Nick McClendon, Chris and June Burton, Chris Taylor, Dub Lutrell and Kevin Baxter.

He is survived by sisters, Florence Whitley of Ashland City, Faye Gregory; brothers, Groves McWhorter of McEwen, Martin McWhorter of Kansas City, Mo., and a host of friends to cherish his memory.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Evan Moseley

Robert Evan Moseley, infant son of Jason and Carol Moseley died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.

He is also survived by one sister, Hanna Moseley and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Moseley and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson.

Funeral services were graveside at the Bethel cemetery on Monday, March 17, 2003.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted the family in arrangements.

Honey Lu Osborne

Honey Lu Osborne, 54, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Mike Fox officiating. Burial followed in Will Smith cemetery in Ashland City. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Evelyn Nabors and a son, Nicholas Ryan Osborne.

She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Michele (Brian) Seat of Clarksville; grandchildren, Megan and Nathaniel Seat of Clarksville; sisters, Jayme (Bo) Forsythe of Ashland City; Gloria Field of Nashville; a brother, Jeffrey King of Ashland City.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Danny Lee Parrish

Danny Lee Parrish, 57, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003.

Services were held Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, with Joe McKinney, Jerry Ladd and Sonny Miller officiating. Honorary pallbearers were: Josh and Jamie Martin, Dallas and Houston Buckley, Cody and Hunter Johnson, Danny Buckley, Terry McCurdy and Sonny Miller. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2008 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville 37203-2003.

He is survived by wife, Connie Buckley Parrish, Ashland City; daughters, Carolyn Johnson, Springfield, Vickie (Terry) McCurdy, Watertown; son, Danny (Lisa) Buckley, Ashland City; mother, Cleo Parrish, Franklin; sisters, Carol Reuther, Nashville, Nancy (Roy) Ward, Ala., Paula (Tom) Peden, Texas; grandchildren, Josh and Jamie Martin, Dallas and Houston Buckley, Cody and Hunter Johnson.

Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, was in charge of arrangements.

Henry Hugh Pennington

Henry Hugh Pennington, 82, died on Thursday, March 13, 2003, at his home in West Monroe, Louisiana. He was born in Pleasant View on Aug. 4, 1920. He served in World War II as an emergency rescue pilot in the Pacific.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Mraz officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View United Methodist Church cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Phillip and his sisters, Mary Harris and Elizabeth Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Javena Rose Keith Pennington; his son, Hugh Keith Pennington of Bowling Green, Ky.; daughters, Zo Lynette P. Harper of Indianapolis, Ind., Karen Aleen P. Brown of West Monroe, La., and Mary Beth P. Harvell of Colleyville, Texas; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Patty Ruth Pitt

Patty Ruth Pitt, 79, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at her home in Ashland City.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. Graveside at Pleasant View Methodist cemetery. Rev. Ken Gentry officiated. Active pallbearers: Matthew Pitt, Stephen Gentry, Brad Wall, Joe Gunn, Bill Gunn and Michael Gunn. Honorary pallbearers: Jimmy Heathman, Ed Heathman, Steven Stratton, Mike Johnson, Butch Dozier, Bud Hallums, Billy Sykes and John Hollingsworth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harold Pitt; her father, James Gunn and her mother, Pauline Heathman Gunn.

She is survived by sons, Harold (Joyce) Pitt Jr. of Enid, Okla., James (Loveit) Pitt of Salt Lake City, Walter Pitt of Ashland City; daughters, Melissa (Ken) Gentry of Elkton, Md., Sarah Pitt of Paris; sisters, Anita Pitt of Lebanon and Lucille Sykes of Ashland City.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
