LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Jakob Edwin Gunnels, 21, of Livingston, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in Overton County Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Thursday, April 22, and from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, April 23, at the funeral home. Mr. Gunnels died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 14, 1989, in Anderson, Ind. Mr. Gunnels was a graduate of Cookeville High School and attended Algood First Free Will Baptist Church. He lived and breathed to play his guitar.

His family includes his father and stepmother, Teddy and Debbie Jo Gunnels; his mother, Linda Hart; his grandparents, Billy and Connie Gunnels, Helen and Bud Howard and Ervin and Donna Kirby; two brothers, Tanner Gunnels and Jason Hart; two sisters, Tionna Gunnels and Shelby Hart; aunts and uncles, Tammy and Rick Johnson and Greg and Donna Conner. Bro. Frank Bledsoe will officiate at the services.

Darlene Palk

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Darlene Palk, 49, of Baxter, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, April 18, from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial cemetery. The family will receive friends after 7 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral home. Mrs. Palk died Thursday, April 15, 2010, in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was born Sept. 11, 1960, in Putnam County to Mary Elizabeth Scarlett of Cookeville and the late George Guss King Scarlett.

In addition to her mother, her family includes her husband, Jimmy Palk of Baxter; two sons and daughters-in-law, James William and Mandi Dwone Palk and Roger Lee and Katy Susannah Palk, all of Baxter; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary April Gertrude and Jamie Dewayne Hawkins of Cookeville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah and Malcolm Leffew and Kay and John Ward, all of Cookeville; and seven grandchildren, Alissia, Kate, Ethan and Trevor Palk and Audrey, Kelsey and Leah Hawkins. Bro. Bobby Roberts will officiate at the services.

Corey Brown

LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Corey Brown, 23, of Livingston, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in Franklin cemetery in Hilham. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, at the funeral home. Mr. Brown died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, in Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born May 23, 1986, in Overton County to Ralph and Shirley Franklin Brown of Livingston. Mr. Brown was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed skateboarding, the outdoors and riding motorcycles.

In addition to his parents, his family includes two sisters, Amy Bledsoe and Amanda Parrigin, both of Livingston; a brother, Matt Geesling of Cookeville; his fiancee, Jennifer Parker of Hilham; a stepson, Alex Contreras of Hilham; his grandparents, Robert and Joyce Pardue of Livingston; a niece, Tori Bledsoe; two nephews, Gage Sons and Kamarley Parrigin; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Revs. Charles Rice and Nolan Cantrell will officiate at the services.

Joe Scott Anderson

COOKEVILLE -- Graveside services for Joe Scott Anderson, 86, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at Crest Lawn cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday, April 29, from 4-8 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Anderson died Monday, April 26, 2010, at NHC of Cookeville.

Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Idell Barlow Scantland

GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Idell Barlow Scantland, 82, of Gainesboro (Burristown Community), were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 28, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial was in Lynn cemetery. Mrs. Scantland died Monday, April 26, 2010, in Mabry Health Care in Gainesboro.

Thurman Leroy Bumbalough

SPARTA -- Funeral services for Thurman Leroy Bumbalough, 92, will be held Thursday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Family will receive friends today, Wednesday, April 28, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Bumbalough died April 26, 2010, at Life Care Center in Sparta. Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A sign-in and register book can be found online at www.thurmanfuneral.com.

Alvin Eugene McDonald

LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Alvin Eugene McDonald, 71, of Mason, Mich., and formerly of Overton County, were held today, Wednesday April 28, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial was in Sylvester Robbins cemetery in Monroe. Mr. McDonald died Friday, April 23, 2010, at Eaton Community Hospice in Eaton Township, Mich.

Speck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marella Abrams

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Marella Abrams, 48, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, April 23,at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Johnson Town cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 9 p.m. today, Thursday, April 22, and from 7 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Abrams passed away Monday, April 19, 2010, at her residence. She was born Dec. 15, 1961, in Georgia to the late Mary Bryant Grantham.

Her family includes her guardian, Rosa Grantham of Cheatham County; her husband, James Abrams of Cookeville; a daughter, Monica Abrams of Cookeville; two sisters, Rosie Davis and Marie McCormick, both of Nashville; an uncle, Robert Grantham of Davison County; brothers-in-law and spouses Paul Abrams, Alex and Jackie Randolph Jr., Dimple Gafford and Shalako and Kimberly Horton; sisters-in-law and spouses Kathy DiCenzo, and Barbara and John Shaffer; three grandchildren, Nicole Abrams, Victor Abrams and Williams Grantham; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Bessie Scarbrough; and her guardian, Lloyd Grantham. Pallbearers will be Larry McCromick, Little Paul Abrams, Shalako Horton, Victor Medina Jr. and Gafford and Ricky Gammons. Bro. L.D. Anderson will officiate the services.

Arlow Gentry

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Arlow Gentry, 76, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dodson Chapel cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, and from 7 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gentry died Monday, March 1, 2010, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 21, 1933, in Jackson County to the late Arnold and Lona Belle Gentry.

Mr. Gentry was of the Church of God faith. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and deer hunting with his family and friends.

His family includes two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Debe Gentry of Cookeville and Larry and Debbie Gentry of Gainesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and John Overstreet and Linda and Hugh Ellington, all of Cookeville; a brother, Howard Gentry of Indiana; a sister, Evla Mae of California; a special brother-in-law and wife, Gary and Brenda Mabe; a special nephew, James Dero Gentry; six grandchildren, Kayla Bean, Beth Lewis, Brad Julian, Tara Stephens, Jennifer Sutton and Keith Ellington; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Anna Ruth Mabe Gentry; two brothers, Woodrow and Arnold Gentry Jr.; and four sisters, Pearl Merritt, Agnes Gentry, Elise Bess and Laura Hensley.

Pallbearers will be Johnnie, Donald Jr. and Christopher Mabe and Charles, David and Dusty Gentry.

Rev. Ken Stephens will officiate at the services.

Chad Pritchard

LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Chad Pritchard, 26, of Livingston, were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 9, from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Livingston.

Mr. Pritchard died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in Livingston Regional Hospital.

Dillard Grider

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Dillard Grider, 67, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 23, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Stewart cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Friday, April 22, at the funeral home. Mr. Grider died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1942, in Putnam County to the late Herman and Nancy Bell Thomas Grider. Dillard was a retired city employee of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

His family includes a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Linda Grider of Baxter; a sister, Billie Faye Palk of Cookeville; and several friends and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Camilla Ruth Grider; four brothers, Everett, Virgil, Lelburn and Howard Grider; and a sister, Estell Hutchins. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bro. L.D. Anderson will officiate at the services.

Velma R. Bowman

MONTEREY -- Funeral services for Velma R. Bowman, 86, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Overton County, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in Mayland cemetery in Mayland. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bowman died Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Eastgate Health Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born May 12, 1923, in Overton County to the late Quitman and Beulah Pitts Wilson. Mrs. Bowman was a loving mother who dedicated her life to caring for her family. During her life, she had been active in church and loved to play her guitar and sing.

Her family includes four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gerhard Weckesser of Cincinnati, Reba and Bob Patterson of Westmoreland, Charlotte and Jim Babcock of Dayton, Ohio, and Marsha and Gary Stoltz of Piqua, Ohio; three sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Emily Bowman of Crossville, Donnie and Faye Bowman of Crawford and Ron and Kay Bowman of Dayton, Ohio; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jeff Wilson of Dayton, Ohio, Willis and Berta Mae Wilson of Rickman, Ray and Jeanette Wilson of Nashville and Dale Wilson of Monterey; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Bowman; four brothers, Herman, Guy, BJ and Dewayne Wilson; and two sisters, Ruby Ketchum and Dorothy Wilson. Bro. Leon Graves will officiate at the services.

Sam R. Randolph

VIRGINIA -- Funeral services for San R. Randolph , 74, of Lebanon, Va., were held Saturday, April 17, from the Castlewood Funeral Home. Entombment was in Chapel of Love Mausoleum, Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Va. Mr. Randolph died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, in Mountain View Adult Care Residence Inc., in Lebanon, Va. He was born in Davidson, Tenn., to the late Jim and Ruth Randolph. Mr. Randolph was a retired miner and a member of the U.M.W.A.

His family includes three daughters, Vicky Fugua of Hendersonville, Vivian Johnson of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Edna Mae Jessee of St. Paul, Va.; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Charles Jr. and Lydia Dean of Castlewood, William Clarence and Helen Dean of Dante, Va., Frankie Lee Dean and friend, Nancy of St. Paul, Va., Robert Samuel and Karen Dean of Rockford, Ill., and Lawrence Eugene and Lena Dean of St. Paul, Va.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Molly and Dale Myers of Monterey and Jimmy Mae Brass of Crossville; two brothers, Bobby Randolph of Crossville and Clay Randolph of Monterey; a brother-in-law, Joe Thompson of West Carrollton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Delma Randolph of Monterey; special caregiver Nancy Hale; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Dean Randolph; a daughter, Marsha Norwood; three sisters, Deane Thompson and Helen and Beverly Randolph; and four brothers, Clece, James Walter, Bill and Jimmy Randolph.

Pallbearers were nephews and other family.

Rev. Ted Phillips officiated the services.
