COOKEVILLE -- Graveside services for Linda Carol Brown, 56, of Cookeville, were held Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Odd Fellow cemetery.
Ms. Brown died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at her residence.
She was born July 14, 1952, in Putnam County to the late Olcie Earnest and Margie Ann Loftis Brown.
Ms. Brown was a member of the Baptist faith. She was a factory worker at Initials Interior.
Her family includes a son, Gregory Terry Brown of Cookeville, and a sister, Peggy S. Horn of Cookeville.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Brown was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth O. and Lonnie W. Brown.
Bro. Terry Crabtree officiated the services.
Melvin Leroy Anthony
COOKEVILLE -- Graveside services for Melvin Leroy Anthony, 64, of Cookeville, will be held Monday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans cemetery (7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN 37221).
No visitation will be held.
Mr. Anthony died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at his residence.
He was born June 13, 1944, in Kincad, Ill., to the late Chester and Mary Elise Brandon Anthony.
Mr. Anthony served in the Navy.
His family includes three brothers, Jerry Anthony of Denton, La., Robert Anthony of Las Vegas, Nev., and Gary Anthony of Taylorville, Ill.; a sister, Rosemary Anthony of Fountain Inn, S.C.; and a devoted friend, Doris Ray of Cookeville.
In addtion to his parents, Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by a son, Brian Anthony, and two brothers, Dean and James Anthony.

Ashley Faye Hall
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Ashley Faye Hall, 19, of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 3 p.m. from the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Smyrna cemetery.
Family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 4, from noon until time of services at the funeral home.
Miss Hall died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
She was born Feb. 8, 1989, in Dearborn Heights, Mich., to Karen Sadler Hall of Cookeville.
Miss Hall graduated with honors from Cookeville High School in 2007, where she was a member of the JROTC. She was an associate at Walmart in Algood.
In addition to her mother, her family includes her father, Jeff Hall of Cookeville; one son, Skyler Price of Cookeville; four brothers, Jeffery Jr., Matthew and Christopher Hall and Jason Gibson; one sister, Kayla Hall; her maternal grandparents, Ida Faye and Jerry Ray Sadler; her paternal grandparents, Janice and Cecil Hall; the father of her son, Ryan Price of Cookeville; and a special uncle and aunt, Doug and Becky Sadler.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Bro. Gerald Phillips and Sgt. 1st Class David Frazier will officiate the services.
Skie Renee Haney
COOKEVILLE -- Skie Renee Haney, the infant daughter of Francis Haney and Mark McCausland, was born and died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. at Highland cemetery in Sparta.
Family will receive friends immediately following services at the cemetery.

Veila Herren Chaffin
BAXTER -- Funeral services for Veila Herren Chaffin, 92, of Baxter, will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. from the Baxter chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Burial will be in Cookeville cemetery.
Family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 5, from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 6, from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Chaffin died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 4, 1915, in Putnam County to the late Amos and Lettie Roberts Herren.
Mrs. Chaffin was a homemaker and member of Herrens Chapel Church of Christ.
Her family includes two daughters and a son-in-law, Josephine and James Whitefield of Baxter and Jean Adkins of Valrico, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Robinson of Baxter; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Carlos and Edna Herren of Clinton and Ralph Herren and Floyd and Belle Herren, all of Baxter; four grandchildren, Randy and Gregory Mathis, Earl Whitefield and Patricia Jones; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chaffin was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Chaffin; a son-in-law, Donald Adkins; three sisters, Hassel Hancock, Vallie Chaffin and Hazel Randolph; and two brothers, Charlie and Leonard Herren.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Chaffin's grandsons and nephews.
Bros. Charles Burgess and Phillip Loftis will officiate the services.
Vivian M. Sliger
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Vivian M. Sliger, 73, of Baxter, will be held Friday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Allison cemetery.

Ralph Manier
BAXTER -- Funeral services for Ralph Manier, 75, of Lima, Ohio, will be held Friday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Robinson Ridge cemetery.
Family will receive friends today, Thursday, Sept. 4, from 2-9 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 5, from 7 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Mr. Manier died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at his residence.
He was born July 31, 1933, in Putnam County to the late George and Dora Brown Manier.
Mr. Manier was a construction worker.
His family includes a sister, A.V. Pully of Baxter; his companion and dear friend, Connie Workman; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Manier was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Wayne, Bruce and Billy Lewis and James, Felix and Jerry Manier.
Bro. Steve Warren will officiate the services.
Alice Eileen Fowler
COOKEVILLE -- Alice Eileen Fowler, 75, of Cookeville, formerly of Prescott, Ariz., died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Ms. Fowler was born July 7, 1933, to the late Harold and Eileen Ellsworth of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
One of the joys of her life was singing and yodeling with different country-western bands through the years. She received many standing ovations for her yodeling. But the real joy of her life was her four boys. She was a gracious, kind and loving mother. She will be deeply missed.
Her family includes four sons, Denny Landis of Cookeville, Rob and Brett Landis, both of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Terry Landis of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Steve Ellsworth of Denver, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
