Connatser - Fuson (2004-06-01)
"From being high school sweethearts, to our journey through college, to our engagement in Australia, the past four years have been some of the most colorful and exciting years of our lives," wrote June Bride cover couple Michelle Connatser and Matt Fuson.
The couple have chosen berry red and silver for their wedding colors.
"Always being a big fan of red, a couple of my bridesmaids and I happened to come across the perfect bridesmaid dress in berry red one day as we casually shopped at a bridal shop," Connatser wrote. "After getting the approval of my sister who is one of the maids of honor, I finally decided that it was the ideal dress as it complemented my wedding dress perfectly and it fortunately was one of my favorite colors!
"The bridesmaids will be carrying stargazer lilies which have the perfect hint of red in the center to complement the dresses," she wrote.
Connatser's uncle has been entrusted to do all the flower arrangements and bouquets for the wedding. "Family and friends have been so wonderful about helping us plan and organize the wedding," she wrote. "As the wedding approaches, we reflect on how gracious God has been in our relationship. He has provided so much for us from supportive family to encouraging friends."
Connatser wrote that she couldn't help but smile as she reflects over the colorful events of the past four years with Fuson. Most memorable is the day on which Fuson proposed.
"Matt and I had been volunteering with a youth group while at Lee University and the opportunity arose for us to go on a mission trip to Australia," the bride-elect wrote. "As God provided for both of us to go, we went and lead a retreat for the young adults and helped establish a foundation for children's ministry. After our first week of Vacation Bible School was over, we went to sightsee in a town called Wollongong, which is south of Sydney. Our first stop was at a scenic overlook, which looked out for miles over the coast of Australia."
Fuson asked Connatser to go for a walk, one of the first times they had been alone since arriving in Australia. As they enjoyed each other's company and the beautiful surroundings, they stopped at a rock that jutted out over the cliff to reflect over the past three years they had been dating, because that day was their dating anniversary, Connatser wrote.
"The next thing I knew he was down on his knee asking me to marry him," Connatser recalled. "I immediately started crying (the typical girl response) and told him `Yes, of course I would!'
"Then we prayed together and committed our future together to the Lord," she wrote. "As we continually seek the Lord, we know that our future is bright and colorful and the Lord has many plans for us as we hold strong to His Word. `For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, `plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)."
