Hearon - Christenbery (2004-06-01)
A chance meeting on a warm afternoon in an auto parts store was the beginning of the romance between Angela Beth Hearon and Ronnie Lee Christenbery Jr.
The former high school classmates had always showed interest in one another but were never available at the same time, Hearon wrote. But after a short discussion, they discovered they were both single.
"To my surprise, Ronnie asked me to meet him after work to watch a movie," Hearon recalled. "That night under the white moon I received my first kiss, which caught us both by surprise and (was) the beginning of something everlasting."
Over the next few months, the two shared many dinners, movies and special drives to the mountains, especially to their favorite spot, Foothills Parkway. Hearon wrote, "We would overlook the city filled with gleaming bright lights that stretched as far to the horizon that they met the crystal clear, star-filled nights. Among all of this Ronnie would always do the sweetest gestures."
On their first Valentine's Day, Christenbery surround Hearon with red roses and prepared dinner for her. He always had a rose for her, Hearon wrote, and one special rose will forever be remembered.
"It was on March 29, 2003," Hearon recalled. "Ronnie and I were at Foothills Parkway, where the snow was falling so beautiful, he turned to me with a white rose that had purple tips. I was completely shocked because I had never seen a purple rose before and Ronnie knew purple was my favorite color."
Then, Christenbery reached in his pocket, got down on one knee and asked Hearon to marry him and be his wife forever.
"There I stood with tears running down my face saying, `Yes, I will marry you!"' Hearon wrote. "From that moment on I said that purple will be the main color for our wedding and it is. My bridesmaids will be in purple as well as the groomsmen's vests. I'm looking forward to June 5, 2004 when I will marry my best friend and we can begin on chapter two of our fairy-tale dream."
