Gentry - LaRue (2004-06-01)
Brightly colored flowers against a blue backdrop will reflect the enthusiasm and excitement that characterize Casey Elizabeth Gentry and Jason Eugene "JJ" LaRue at their June 19 wedding.
The two met at William Blount High School when Gentry was a freshman and LaRue was a senior.
"Now, seven years later, we are planning our wedding together," Gentry wrote. A close family friend has helped them with the planning.
"As JJ and I began to pick the colors for the wedding, we were very open to everything," Gentry wrote. "We are very enthusiastic and excited people, so we immediately knew that we would want to use bright colored flowers in the wedding and at the reception. Some examples include hot pink, yellow, orange and especially purple, my favorite color."
As Gentry began shopping for her wedding gown and bridesmaids' dresses, she noticed some dresses that were lined in pale blue with a black lace overlay.
"I fell in love with these dresses, therefore, blue became the primary color of the entire wedding," the bride-elect wrote. "The junior bridesmaids will be wearing white dresses with pale blue sashes, and the men and the ring bearer will be wearing tuxes in all black with a traditional tie. Although the primary color is blue, there will also be bright colored Gerbera daisies, roses and berries to accent the primary color."
Gentry did not consult anyone about the colors, although she wrote that when her mom, sister and future mother-in-law saw the bridesmaids' dresses, they immediately knew the main color would be blue.
"Now that I think back, the color blue does hold a special significance to JJ and I," Gentry wrote. "We did meet at William Blount High School and their colors are blue and orange. We have now gone from our high school color being blue to our wedding color being blue. It is amazing what can happen in seven years."
