Hitches to celebrate 50 years (2004-07-28)
James A. and Marion (Haddox) Hitch of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 7 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
They request that gifts be omitted.
The couple were married Aug. 13, 1954.
Their family includes children Al Hitch of Louisville, Ky., Duane and Jennie Graves of Maryville, Walt and Aretha Hitch of Crossville and Darryl and Jane Hill of Louisville. They have seven grandchildren, Jim Hitch, Stephanie Hitch, Andrea Graves, Rachel Tinker, Adam Hill, Hannah Hitch and John Hitch.
Mr. Hitch is a retired dairy farmer. Mrs. Hitch is retired from the U.S. Post Office.
They attend Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and are members of the Blount County Farm Bureau.
Peacocks married 25 years (2004-07-28)
Jim and Cecelia (Pledger) Peacock of Maryville will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary today at 5 p.m. by renewing their vows in a private ceremony at their home. Dr. Jerry Russell, pastor at Fairview United Methodist Church, will officiate.
The couple were married July 28, 1979 in Dallas. Larry Davis officiated.
Their family includes children Stephanie Peacock Carpenter of Columbiaville, Mich., Ricky Peacock of Houston and Eric Peacock of Knoxville. They have six grandchildren.
Mr. Peacock is retired as former director at Morrison's Healthcare at University of Tennessee Medical Center. Mrs. Peacock is currently clinical care coordinator at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital's Baptist Senior Centers.
The couple attend Fairview United Methodist Church. Mr. Peacock is a lifetime member of Sertoma Club and currently an officer in the Marine Corps League.
Mr. and Mrs. Jones married 50 years (2004-09-01)
Jerry and Jean (Pinkston) Jones of Louisville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a summer trip to San Francisco and a family dinner at The Orangery.
The couple were married Sept. 4, 1954 in Dallas, Texas.
Their family includes children Terry Lynn Jones of Falls Church, Va., and Robert (Bob) and Sherry Jones of Acworth, Ga.
Mr. Jones is retired after 40 years as a pilot in the United States Air Force and in corporate aviation. Mrs. Jones is retired as director of career planning and placement at Maryville College.
Starritts married 56 years (2004-09-08)
Thomas and Frances (Irwin) Starritt of Maryville will celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary Sept. 5.
The couple were married Sept. 5, 1948 in Chatsworth, Ga. J.W. Dooly officiated.
Their family includes children Charles Starritt of Sevierville and Nancy Starritt, Bill and Linda Starritt, Stanley and Edna Nelson, and Tim and Suzann Starritt, all of Maryville. They have nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Mr. Starritt is retired from ALCOA Inc. Mrs. Starritt is a housewife.
They are members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. They enjoy camping and their dog Boomer.
Dixons married 50 years (2004-09-08)
John C. and Ruby (Reagan) Dixon of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Laurel Bank Baptist Church fellowship hall.
They request no gifts.
The couple were married Sept. 18, 1954 in Georgia.
Their family includes son John Dixon Jr. and his wife Kathy of Maryville. They have one grandchild.
Mr. Dixon is retired from Y12 at Oak Ridge as an electrician. Mrs. Dixon is a housewife.
