Whiteheads married 50 years (2003-09-17)
Jack and Vera Wilma (Chambers) Whitehead of Maryville will observe their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 19. Their children and grandchildren took them to Destin, Fla., for the anniversary celebration.
The couple were married Sept. 19, 1953.
Their family includes three children, Debbie Watson of Maryville, the late Terry Whitehead, and Donna Martin of Walland. They have four grandchildren, Ryan and Beth Watson, Shea Whitehead and Derek Martin.
Mr. Whitehead is retired from Maryville Police Department. Mrs. Whitehead is self-employed.
They are members of Grandview Baptist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry married 50 years (2003-09-10)
Raymond and Dorothy (McElhaney) Henry will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a gala to be held from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 at Athens Regional Park, Athens. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Children are welcome as there will be child care with a playing facility.
The couple request no gifts.
Their family includes children Calvin Henry of Athens, Dot Yvonne Henry of Athens, Rex Henry of Chattanooga, Mike Henry of Calhoun, Jerry Henry of Riceville, Donna Henry Takahashi of Jacksonville, Fla., Danny Henry of Riceville, Bo Henry of Charleston and Lisa Henry of Mission Viejo, Calif. They have 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Claboughs married 50 years (2003-09-10)
Kenneth and Harriet (Fleming) Clabough of Greenback will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 12.
The couple were married Sept. 12, 1953.
Their family includes children Darrel Clabough of Maryville, Mark Clabough of Seymour and Shannon Stooksbury of Franklin. They have five grandchildren.
Mr. Clabough is employed at Robertshaw. Mrs. Clabough is employed by her son, Dr. Darrel Clabough.
Smallings have been married 50 years (2004-03-31)
Dr. and Mrs. John D. (Elsie M. Lee) Smalling of Maryville celebrated their golden wedding anniversary March 20 with a family dinner at Regas Restaurant and with a reception for friends and relatives at their home March 21.
The couple were married March 20, 1954 at First Baptist Church in Bristol, Va.
Their family includes children J. David and Cindy Smalling of Hopkinsville, Ky., Paul and Margaret S. Lane of Murfreesboro, and Fred and Miriam S. Frazier of Afton. Their grandchildren are Matthew, Thomas and Andrew Lane of Murfreesboro, Anna and Sarah Smalling of Hopkinsville and Emilee Frazier of Afton.
Mr. Smalling is retired from a teaching career at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in the Animal Science Department. Mrs. Smalling is retired from teaching kindergarten in the Blount County School system.
They reside at Aberlea, a farm in Blount County, and are members of New Providence Presbyterian Church.
Lohmanns celebrate 50th anniversary (2004-03-17)
Mr. and Mrs. Frank T. Lohmann (Ann Schurman) of Maryville launched the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary with a cruise on the Delta Queen on the Mississippi River out of New Orleans.
The couple were married March 20, 1954 in Burlington, Iowa.
Their family includes children John (Renee) Lohmann of Nashville, Beth Bolton of Loveland, Colo., and Frank S. Lohmann (Direnda) of Locust Grove, Ga. They have five grandchildren, Brian, Katie, Alex, Dannah and Zachary.
Mr. Lohmann is retired from the United States Army. Mrs. Lohmann is a homemaker but taught several years and volunteered many years.
