Bests celebrate 50th anniversary (2004-07-21)
Mr. and Mrs. Glynn E. (Josephine E. Crisp) Best of Canton, Ga., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with the renewing of their vows followed by a family reception July 17 at Cohutta Lodge in Chatsworth, Ga.
The couple were married July 17, 1954 in their hometown of Maryville.
They have five daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and James Carter of Canton, Ga., Teresa and Mark Mayfield of White, Ga., Janice and Alan Barron of Woodstock, Ga., Evelyn and Mike Honea of Woodstock, Ga., and Landis and Tommy Carnes of Cartersville, Ga. They have 10 grandchildren, James, Tammy and Tim Carter, Angela and Adam Mayfield, Amanda and Melissa Barron, Kirsten Honea and Trey and Drew Carnes.
Mr. Best is retired from Heely-Brown in Atlanta. Mrs. Best is a homemaker.
Halls celebrate 40th wedding anniversary (2001-09-20)
Don and Brenda (Fife) Hall celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Wednesday.
The couple were married Sept. 19, 1961 in Bryson City, N.C.
Their family includes children and spouses, Kim and James Smith of Oliver Springs, Pam and Marvin Hickman of Knoxville and Don and Mary Hall of Maryville. They have five grandchildren, Clayton Smith, Brittany Hickman, Kaitlyn Hall, Kassi Hall and Kameron Hall.
Mr. Hall is employed by Ameristeel. Mrs. Hall is a housewife.
Walkers to Celebrate 50th Anniversary (2001-09-26)
Orville and Reba (Keener) Walker of Alcoa will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 2-4 p.m. at Hillcrest Church Fellowship Hall.
They request that gifts be omitted.
The couple were married Oct. 2, 1951 at Pecks Memorial United Methodist Church, Maryville. The Rev. Cas Turner officiated.
Their family includes children and spouses, Kim and Keith Grubb of Knoxville, Mike and Ann Walker of Chattanooga and Brad and Melinda Walker of Knoxville. They have seven grandchildren.
Mr. Walker is retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratories. Mrs. Walker is a homemaker.
They are members of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Maryville.
They took a cruise to four of the Hawaiian Islands in June.
Murrs celebrate 50th anniversary (2001-11-28)
Fred and Barbara (Blair) Murr of Rockford celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 26. They were married Nov. 26, 1951.
Their family includes children Ricky, Craig, Freddie and Tim Murr, all of Rockford, and Marcie Gann of Maryville. They have 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Murr is retired from Tom's Food. Mrs. Murr is a homemaker.
They are members of Tuckaleechee Chapel Baptist Church.
