YATES MANAHAN

Services for Yates Manahan, 17, of Fairfield, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church of Fairfield with the Revs. Bill Shaw, John Saculla and Bill Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Manahan’s Family Cemetery in Freestone County under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.

Mr. Manahan died Sunday in an auto accident in Huntsville.

He was born Dec. 17, 1982, in Corsicana, to Cam and Deb Manahan of Fairfield.
He was a junior at Fairfield High School. He was a Methodist.

Mr. Manahan qualified in state bull riding two years in the Texas High School Rodeo Association, qualified in dogging one year in the Texas High School Rodeo Association, qualified for the national finals in 1999 in bull riding, and was champion district poll vault in 1999.

He is survived by his parents; brothers, Justin Manahan and Garrett Manahan of Fairfield; grandparents, Dolly Manahan of Fairfield and Oliver and Shirley Swinburn of Teague; and great-grandmother, Lois Lancaster of Dew.

Pallbearers will be Michael Wren, Dan Brown, Richard Callendar, Clark Fryer, Derek Mitchell, Chance Armstrong, Clay Emmons and Cody Mizell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Davis, Will Barnes, Lynn Bottoms, Bob Champion, Ray Lancaster and Rusty Davis.
Memorials may be made to Christian Cowboys Who Care, P.O. Box 99, Douglas, Texas.

BARBARA ANN KRAUSE

Services for Barbara Ann Krause, 53, of Red Level, Ala., were held Sunday at Fairmont Church Cemetery under the direction of Keahey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Krause died Thursday at her daughter’s home.

She is survived locally by a son, Edward G. Wilbanks, of Rusk.

CHAUNCEY MORROW

Services for Chauncey K. Morrow Sr., 87, of Houston and formerly of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Church of God in Christ. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Morrow died Wednesday at Hermann Hospital in Houston.

He was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Tucker to Charlie and Rosanna Morrow.

Mr. Morrow graduated from Green Bay High School and was a school bus driver. He was later employed by Missouri Pacific Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1977.

Mr. Morrow was an ordained deacon and Sunday school superintendent at churches he served in Tucker, Palestine, Los Angeles and Houston. He was a member of Victory in Jesus Evangelistic Center in Houston for the past 10 years.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Elector Howard; sons, Laurece Morrow, Voyd Watkins and Charlie Watkins; sisters, Florine Austin, Mattie Morrow and Geneva Alexander; and brothers, Caleb Morrow, Abraham Morrow and Brady Morrow.
Mr. Morrow is survived by his wife, Arzie Mae Morrow; daughters, Joyce Wallace, Nellie P. Lee, Louise Williams, Ardella Morrow, Cynthia Hyacinth, Debra Walton, Heather Walton and Rilda Bell; sons, Thaddaeus Watkins, Chauncey K. Morrow Jr., O’Quien Morrow and Drew E. Morrow; sister, Euretta Payne; brothers, Joshua Morrow and Alfred Morrow; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Victory in Jesus Evangelistic Center, 4740 W. Orem Dr. in Houston.

Pallbearers for both services will be Randy Williams, Ron Overton, Arthur Sherrod, William Howard, Ameri Jones and Eric Adams.

Services for Frances Kale Peterson, 69, of Tacoma, Wash., were held Wednesday in Tacoma.

She was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Anderson County.

Mrs. Peterson attended Springfield, Montalba and Palestine schools. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1948.

Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Peterson; and son, Gary Pate.

She is survived by son, Randy Peterson of Tacoma; daughter, Tanya Peterson of Tacoma; mother, Hazel Kale Gray of Athens; and brother, Arnold Kale of Palestine.

CHORICA JEWELL WILLIAMS

Services for Chorica Jewell Williams, 67, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dabbs Cemetery under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams died Friday at her home.
She was born May 19, 1932 in Anderson County.

Mrs. Williams was a housewife. She was raised in Evans Springs community and attended the Clemons school district. She was a member of the Evans Springs Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Marie Collier, a son, Elmore Williams, brothers Edward Jones and Bert Jones and a sister, Eddie Mae Jones.
Mrs. Williams is survived by sons, Ronald Williams, William Bert Williams, Seymore Williams III and Larry Williams, all of Palestine, Lavon Vernon Williams of Houston and Thelmore Williams, Fred Edward Williams, Leo Smith and Samuel Charles Smith, all of California; daughters, Lavern Williams and Frances Ann Williams, both of Palestine, Ruth Williams of Dallas, Mary Ann Williams of Houston and Delois Williams, Billy Jean Smith and Macie Jewel Jackson, all of California; sisters, Ever Lee Wilson of Palestine and Dale Lee Jones of Frankston.

Her sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are friends of the family.

MARLENE MARIE MYERS

Services for Marlene Marie Myers, 68, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. M.T. Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Land of memory Cemetery.

Mrs. Meyers died Friday at her home.
She was born March 22, 1931 in Chester, Ill. to Wallace Dale and Mina Custer Hobbs.

Mrs. Meyers lived in Anderson County most of her life and was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal church. She worked as an assistant manager at the Granbury Chamber of Commerce, with civil service at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, with the Palestine school district and at the J.C. Penny catalog department in Palestine.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Hobbs.

Mrs. Meyers is survived by her husband, Ed Meyers of Palestine; mother, Mina Hobbs of Palestine; sons, Steve Spence of Palestine and Craig Spence of Montalba; a stepson, Mike Meyers of Malakoff; daughters, Jerri Fincher of Palestine and Crystal Hudson of Tennessee colony; stepdaughters, Deborah Denson of Houston, Marcy Meyers of Palestine and Kelly Weaver of Henderson; a brother, Gary Hobbs of Cooper; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Franklin Williams, Chuck Touchstone, Sam Blackmon, Matt Phillips, Mitchell Hudson and Tom Weaver.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Linda Dale Harris Gradick

Services for Linda Dale Harris Gradick, 60, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. today in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Bill Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in Broyles Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Gradick died Friday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

She was born Aug. 29, 1939 in Palestine to Haywood Link Harris Sr. and Alma Weldon Harris.

Mrs. Gradick was a graduate of Dallas Revival Center High School and Stephen F. Austin State University. She was a long time employee of the Harris Food Store and was the current owner and partner in Linda’s Antiques. She was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Haywood Link Harris Sr.

Mrs. Gradick is survived by her husband, E.E. “Bill” Gradick of Palestine; mother, Alma Weldon Harris of Palestine; a son, Shane Gradick of Palestine; sisters, Mrs. Sammie “Nancy” George and Mrs. Noel “Elizabeth” Roebuck, both of Austin; and a brother, Haywood Harris Jr. of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Harris, Chuck Huffman, Wayne McInnis, Hugh Summers, Eddie Harris and Kenneth Hutcherson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. don Jackson Jr., Dr. Michael Williams, Dr. David Fletcher, Greg Scalapino, Travis Vinson and F.L. Hutcherson.

Services for Grace Carroll, 81, of Fairfield, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Capps Chapel with the Rev. Ed Ridge officiating. Burial will follow at Stewards Mill Cemetery in Freestone County under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.
Mrs. Carroll died Saturday at her residence.

She was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Kirvin.
Mrs. Carroll was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by son, Van Carroll; and daughter, Sondra Whatley.
Mrs. Carroll is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack Carroll of Fairfield; daughters, Lucy Salter of Streetman, Carolyn Nanny of Teague, Billie Brim of Baytown, Martha Lindsey of Fairfield, Kathy Whatley of Fairfield, Shelia Carroll of Fairfield and Sara Owens of Van; sons, Milton Carroll, John Carroll and Jack Carroll, all of Fairfield; brother, Pete Guyton of Buffalo, Wyo.; sisters, Neva Baker of Madisonville and Betty Miller of Livingston; 28 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Owen, David Winfree, Heath Lindsey, Van Carroll, Kent Whatley and Bud Carroll.

Services for Laura Jordan Pierson, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evans Spring Baptist Church in Neches with the Rev. Reginald Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Dabbs Cemetery in Neches under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home in Palestine.

Mrs. Pierson died Friday at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Tyler.

She was born July 14, 1909, in Neches, to Eli and Lucy Johnson McCray.

Mrs. Pierson received her education from Clemmons High School in Neches. She was a member of Evans Spring Baptist Church. She married Ellis Jordan and later married Ivory Joe Pierson.

She was preceded in death by son, Jodie Turner; sisters, Lula Brown, Ardesea Green, Leola Whitaker and her twin Elizabeth Demar; and twin brothers, George and Ike McCray.

Mrs. Pierson is survived by daughter, Wuyles Thomas of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Edwards died Sunday morning at Hospice Home Place in Tyler.

She was born July 1, 1941, in Palestine, to William Clint and Blanch Blanchard Grant.

Mrs. Edwards had been employed as activities director at Grapeland Nursing Center. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Edwards of Grapeland; stepmother, Ailene Grant of Elkhart; daughters, Melinda Adams Hudson of Conroe, Tammy Adams Wick of Rusk and Jamie Brent Allen of Beaumont; sons, Johnny Adams and James Brent Jr., both of Grapeland, Jason Brent of Beaumont and Chad Edwards of Grapeland; sisters, Elena Glasscock of Tyler, Martha Basye of Itasca and Iva Lou Crawford of Elkhart; brothers, William D. Grant of Elkhart, William Kale of Grapeland and Marvin Gill of Frankston; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Adams, James Brent Jr., Chad Edwards, Glenn Wick and Dwayne Allen.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

JAMES HAYNES

Services for James Aaron Haynes, 61, of LaPort, will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Grapeland with the Revs. David Bradley and Kennith Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in Grapeland City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.

Mr. Haynes died Monday at Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena.

He was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Houston County, to James Alton and Ruby Gilmore Haynes.

Mr. Haynes was an instrument technician for Simpson Paper Company and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Deer Park.

He is survived by his wife, Patsey Marie Haynes of LaPort; daughters, Donna Marie Kessler of Park City, Utah, and Connie Gaye Barr of Fort Riley, Kan.; sons, James Arron Haynes Jr. of Deer Park and Russell Alton Haynes of Pasadena; sisters, Arlene Perry of Grapeland, Geraldine Evetts of Grapeland and Martha Manning of Houston; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Langham, Jerry Hannah, Roy Hannah, Charles Haynes, Gerald Barr, Quention Shaver, Fred McGinnis and Tommy McGinnis. Honorary pallbearer will be Marvin McDowell.

AVIS ANN EISEN-ARMSTRONG

Services for Avis Ann Eisen-Armstrong, 34, of Fairfield were at 3 p.m. today at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield. Burial followed at St. Elmo Cemetery in Winkler.

Ms. Armstrong died Saturday at a Corsicana hospital.

She was born Nov. 19, 1965, in Tomball. She was a homemaker.

Ms. Armstrong is survived by life mate, Charles Armstrong and his daughter, Donna Zwierzchowski, of Fairfield; mother, Avis Eisen of Fairfield; and sisters, Paula Snider and Cindy Eisen, both of Fairfield, and Laura Eisen of Kansas City, Mo.

Pallbearers were Amile Snider, Lindale Grandbury, Ricky Grandbury, James Armstrong, Delbert Armstrong and Leonard Zwierzchowski.
