Funera; services for Mrs. Nanie Thelma STARR NELSON, 75, of 1210 Connally, Wace. formally of Elkhart who died Wednesday in Waco following a sudden illness, were held at 2 p.m. today in Gassell & Foster Chapel.....Burial was in Starr Cemetery at Elkhart.

Mrs. Nelson was born 25 June 1900 in Elkhart, a daughter of Edwin E. and Jessie Ella Fuller Starr. Before moving to Waco, she had also lived in Tyler, Leon County and Elkhart for many years, She was a Jehovah Witness.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Nelson of Waco; One brother, W.D. Starr; Two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Carlisle of Jewett and Mrs. Clarice Dyal of Elkhart....

Mrs. Jessie Brown, age 87, of Palestine died at 6:30 a.m. today in a local nursing home following a long illness.....Burial will be on New Addition Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown, the former Jessie Bennett Gambrell, was born 29 Aug 1889, in Anderson County, a daughter of the late James R. Gambrell and Polly Ann Rogers Gambrell.....Preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Brown.

Survivors include a son, Walter B. Brown of Montalba; Two brothers, Herman & Broyles Gambrell, both of Palestine; Two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Nell) Bishop of Dallas and Mrs. luther (Pearl) Morrow of Palestine.....

FOY WARDELL

Foy WARDELL was born on 24 July 1924, in Blackfoot, TX. He passed away at 2:35 p.m., Thursday, 8 July 1976, in Newton, Texas, at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 14 days. Mr. Wardell lived at Route 1, Box 19, Montalba, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Crist Wardell His daughter, Mrs. Lonnie (Judy) Satterwhite; Four brothers, Marvin Wardell of Dallas, Charlie Wardell of Sequin, Roy Wardell of Blackfoot and Bob Wardell of New Boston; Three sisters, Mrs. Luther (Mabel) Schitoskey of Blackfoot, Mrs. W.R. (Dolly) Hallmark of Athens, and Mrs. James (Betty) Kimbrough of Blackfoot: A sister-in-law, Mrs. Sammy Lewhorn Spence of Mesquite and numerous nieces & nephews.

Joe Blinka, father of Mrs. W. J. Taylor of Palestine, died in a local nursing home at 9 p.m.....

Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell.

Mr. Blinka was born in Burlson County on June 23, 1884, a son of the late Joseph And Annie Blaha Blanka, a retired farmer, he had been a resident of Palestine the last 7 years.

Survivors in addition to her daughter include one son, A.J. Blinka of Hempstead...

CALVIN C. KILLION

Ridgeville, SC – Calvis Carroll Killion, a retired Civil Service employee, died Wednesday at a Charleston Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Friday, at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Killion was born August 1, 1908, at Palestine, Texas, a son of Clayton C. Killion and Mentie D. Killion. He was a member of Mount Tabor Church and was a Mason.

Survivors are his wife, Leona Gibson Killion; four sons, Curtis L. Killion, Carlton C. Killion, and Basil C. Killion, al of Goose Creek, and Bruce A. Killion of North Charleston; two daughters, Mary Kirlin of Ridgeville and Mazalene Walker of Channelview, Texas; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MRS. BRANSON(M) RITES PLANNED

CAYUGA - Funeral services for Martha D. BRANSON(M), 94, Cayuga, are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foster And Brown Funeral home in Athens with Rev. Riley Pippin officiating.

Burial will be in Judson Cemetery in Anderson County.

Mrs. BRANSON(M) died Monday in an Athens hospital after a short illness.

She was born 24 June 1886 in Anderson County. She lived in Cayuga the past ten years. She was a former resident of Denver, CO. and Dallas.

She was a member of the Eastern Star in Tennessee Colony and was a Methodist.

Survivors include two sons, Charlie Branson(M) Cayuga; and H.M. Branson(M) Greenville; Four daughters, MRS. Lora Sully, Cayuga; MRS. Allie Brock; Arlington; MRS. Evelyn Gilillan, Dallas; and MRS. Charcie Howell, Denver, CO. 15 grandchildren and a number of great great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mrs. Jennie McWhorter, 91, of 823 W. Louisiana, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the East Hill Cemetery...The Rev Otis Felton Officiating,

She died Wednesday in Anderson County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. McWhorter 1 July 1890 in Sealy, a daughter of David Patterson Melville and Fredonia Bassinger Melvile. A resident of Palestine since 1900, she was a member of Palestine Chapter NO. 395 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First Presbyterian Church.

Her Husband, R.W. McWhorter, died in 1957.

She is survived by a cousin, Mrs. David Lyons of Corpus Christi; Three Nephews, Lawrence McWhorter of Palestine, Frank McWhorter of Houston and Eugene McWhorter of Longview...

He attended the University of Houston and was an Air Force Veteran.

Survivors include a brother, John T. New of Houston, an Aunt, Everly Trelford of Houston, and Aunt and Uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Willard W. Johnson of Palestine.

Mrs. Bennett died Friday afternoon at a Tyler hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born Dec 13, 1911 on Anderson County, a daughter of Jessie W. Cherry and Leota Melton Cherry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Neches.

Her Husband, Lester Bennett, died April 13, 1974...

Survivors include a half sister, Ellie Evans of Texarkana and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

MRS. EMMA FELTMAN

Funeral Service for Emma FELTMAN, 82, a former resident of Palestine, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Bailey Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Otis Felton officiating. Burial will be on the Broyles Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

MRS. FELTMAN died Tuesday at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.

She was born in Cayuga, 16 Feb 1901 to the late Steve Allen and Martha Elizabeth Spivey BRANSON(M). She was a member of the Grace and Truth Tabernacle.

Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Jewel Arnett of Denton and ------, 10 grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Condolence calls will be received at the Bert Crawford residence, 1501 N. John St.

MR. CHARLIE BRANSOM

Funeral service for Charles(Charlie) W. BRANSOM, 71, of Cayuga, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Hassell & Foster Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. James William Ward and Ken Mullins officiating. Burial will be in the Judson Cemetery, Cayuga.

MR. BRANSOM died Tuesday Morning at Anderson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthily illness.

He was born 13 September 1912, on Cayuga, a son of Charles B. BRANSOM and Dellie (Della) SEAT BRANSOM. He married Ella Florence CRIST BRANSOM 7 Nov 1933, During World War ll he was a shipyard machinist in Orange, and after the war was a carpenter, living in Cayuga most of his life.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Louetta McDaniel of Palestine, a son, Charles M. BRANSOM of Burlington, Kan; four sisters, Lora Sully of Cayuga, Allie Brock of Arlington; Evelyn Gillem of Dallas and Charlsie Hallum of Denver, CO; A brother, Herbert Melvin BRANSOM of Greenville; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Richard Seat, Braxton Bell; Red Thermon; William Owen Batchelor; Darrell Rampy and Robert Rampy.

Condolence calls will be received at the Bransom residence, Cayuga. Telephone 214-499-2730.

CLIFTON WILLIAMS

Services for Clifton G. Williams, 82, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster funeral home with Dan Manuel and Lester Singleton officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday in a Palestine Hospital.

He was born in Branford Community on May 2, 1911, to Chesley Graham and Cora Pickle Holland Williams. He was a farmer and rancher and a member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Stovall Allen Williams of Palestine: daughters, Ida Frances Williams-Albrecht of Austin and Linda Knous of Rowlett: sons, Ralph Williams of Sugarland, Jimmy Williams of Frederick, Md., Clifton G Williams, Jr. of Nevada, Dan "Carroll" Allen of Austin and Jimmy Allen of Palestine; sister, Evelyn Carroll of Montalba; brother, Paul Williams of Montalba: 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Nephews will be pallbearers.
Condolence calls will be received from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p. m today at the funeral home.

LOUISE CRIST

Malakoff: Services for Helen Louise CRIST, 72, Malakoff are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the first Baptist Church, Malakoff, with Brother Casey Perry and brother Frank Upchurch officiating.

Burial will be in Malakoff Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Malakoff.

She was born January 2, 1926, to the late John Gordon and Mamie Ann Hope. She lived in Cross Roads for more than 20 years before moving to Malakoff on 1964. She worked for several years for McCool's Department Store in Malakoff. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church, cross Roads and First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Foster Carter in 1983, brothers, J. H. Hope and Bill Hope and sister, Ruby Nell Yardley.

Survivors include her husband, William Maury Crist; Sons, Fred Carter, Ceder Hill, Gary Carter, Keller, and Tommy Carter, Houston; Daughter, Sherry Trammell; Brothers, Durwood Hope, Farmersville, and R.A. "Buster" Hope, Shady Oaks; Sisters, Genie Gatewood, Lubbock, Dot Williams, Lisbon, OH., Paula Howard, Eustace, Barbara Dwayne, Denver City and Sue Branscum, Athens. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
