Molinar

Services for Andres Molinar, 71, of Alpine, were held Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine with Father Mike Alcuino officiating. Rosary was said Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the church. Burial was in Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Molinar died Jan. 18, 2004 at Big Bend Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 31, 1932, in Alpine to Andres Sr. and Manuela Molinar.

Survivors include two sons, Rudy T. Molinar and Andy T. Molinar, both of Alpine; four daughters, Yolanda T. Molinar, Nora M. Martinez, Estella M. Sanders, all of Alpine, and Linda T. Molinar of Florida; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Andres was a good father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family loved him very much and prays he will rest in peace. God bless you, Dad, from your children.

McPeak

Terrie McPeak, 53, of Alpine, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 20, 2004 in Odessa. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Misty Dawn Blair, and her father, Oliver Bierschwale.

She is survived by one daughter, T.J. Graham, and her husband Andrew of Maine; her mother, Sara Jean Bierschwale of Kingman, Ariz.; and three sisters, Linda Bierschwale of El Paso, Cindy Harman of Kingman, Ariz. and Leta Jean Bierschwale of Alpine.

Terrie was born on March 7, 1950, in Monahans to Oliver and Sara Jean Bierschwale.

Chapel services were held at Geeslin Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 22, with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. McPeak was a registered nurse and a resident of Alpine.

Services were entrusted to Geeslin Funeral Home.

Carrera

Pomposa C. Carrera, 88, died March 24, 2004 in an El Paso medical center. Rosary was held Friday, March 26, at Santa Teresa de Jesus Catholic Church in Presidio. Funeral Mass was held Saturday, March 27, with Father Lazaro Gonzales Trejo officiating. Burial followed at Desert Hills Cemetery.

Ms. Carrera was born to Julio Carrera and Pomposa Carrasco Carrera on Sept. 19, 1915, in Adobes, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Concepcion Carrera.

Survivors include her daughter, Margie Nunez of El Paso; her son, Enrique Carrera of Odessa; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pineda

Paula N. Pineda, 90, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2004 in a Pecos area hospital.

Rosary was recited on Monday, March 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marfa. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, March 30, at the church with Father Rick Ruiz officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Funeral services entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Marfa.

Mrs. Pineda was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Ruidosa, Texas, to Juan C. and Maria Mediano Nunez. On July 25, 1933, Paula was wed to Faustino Pineda, Jr., who preceded her in death. She had been a resident of Marfa since 1935, and was a homemaker. Paula was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary F. Vizcaino and Socorro P. Whatley, both of Marfa, Irene Hernandez of Presidio, and Tina P. Ramos of Del Rio; her sons, Faustino A. Pineda of Redford, Leo N. Pineda and Robert N. Pineda, both of El Paso, Rene N. Pineda of Marfa and Martin Pineda of Austin; her brother, Calistro M. Nunez of Marfa; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Ratcliff

James E. Ratcliff, Jr., 54, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at Big Bend Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service was held on Monday, March 28, at the Geeslin Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Ratcliff was born on Aug. 26, 1949, in Worland, Wyo., to James E. and Mary Schultz Ratcliff. James received his master's degree in geology from Sul Ross State University, and had been employed with the appraisal district at the tax office. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Ratcliff; his daughter, Raine, and son, Joshua; his sister, Bevera and husband, Wendall Williams; and his uncle, Bob Adams.

Tomerlin

Joyce Johnson Tomerlin passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

She was born in Menard on June 18, 1932, to Faye Janes Johnson and Perry Johnson.

Joyce will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, as the rock base that was always there for her family, friends and community. As a retired educator, Joyce supported the education of local children by working through the Friends of the Library to promote the importance of reading. She was also involved in the Floresville Music Club and Compassionate Friends.

Mrs. Tomerlin was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Ann Hill; and a granddaughter, Megan Louise Mogford.

She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Monte Tomerlin of Floresville; her constant companion, "Buddy;" her children, Leisha Hill Mogford and her husband, David, of Roswell, N.M., Billy Gene Hill, Jr., of San Antonio, Monte Tomerlin of San Antonio, Martin Tomerlin of Canyon Lake, Mary Alice Brittain of Amarillo, Anne Tomerlin of Austin and Jo Ellen McCrackin of Prescott, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Mogford, Emily, J.B. and Alice Tomerlin and Kirk Tomerlin, Allen Slipp and Sare Pastore, Thomas, John and Anne Brittain and Austin Talley.

Other survivors include her sisters, Christelle Taylor and husband, Bill, of Burnet, and Margie Doris of Yoakum; sister-in-law, Anna Johnson of Alpine; numerous nieces and nephews; and two aunts, Mrs. Mildred Couch and Ms. Jo Richardson of Ozona.

Graveside services were held March 25 at Tomerlin Cemetery with Captain Mike Vincent officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Friends of the Library in Floresville, 1 Library Lane, Floresville, TX 78114.

Ferguson

Sam Griffin Ferguson, 74, of Brackettville, died March 28, 2004 at his residence.

He was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Wilson County, Texas.

Mr. Ferguson was employed by Bell Telephone Co. During the Korean War, he served with the 101st Airborne in Germany. Upon his discharge, he was rehired by Bell Telephone and after the company breakup, by Southwestern Bell. During his career, he worked in several different areas, including Uvalde, Eagle Pass, and finally in Brackettville, where he retired and continued to live.

He served as Justice of the Peace for Kinney County during the early '70s.

Services were held Wednesday, March 31, at the Brackettville Church of Christ with Bro. Ray Melton officiating. Interment followed in Sutherland Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Ferguson is survived by a brother, Lee Roy Ferguson and his wife, Belle, of Canyon Lake; his sons, Sam Pat Ferguson and wife, Sherri, of Alpine, Bill Tom Ferguson and wife, Kelly, of Uvalde and Joe Don Ferguson and wife, Lety, of Del Rio; grandchildren, Brandon, Kristin, Ethan, Caitlin, Dana, Brant, Tracy, Kimberly, Ellen and Isabella Ferguson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Willie Ferguson; and two brothers, J.D. Ferguson and Marshal Ferguson.
