Services for Joyce Mae Necessary Clay, 74, Mabank, were held July 13, 2003, in Corley Funeral Home chapel, Corsicana, with the Rev. Harold Scott officiating, under the direction of Corley Funeral Home, Corsicana. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Clay was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Pasadena and died July 11, 2003, in Corsicana. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillian Necessary and sister, Alvena Wenzel.
She was a housewife and spent her childhood in the Cottage Grove area in Houston. She was a member of the Payne Springs Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary No. 3366 in Corsicana. She currently made her home in Bushwacker Peninsula on Cedar Creek Lake.
Survivors include her husband, Chester R. Clay, Mabank; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Billy Cole, Sr., Roane; Donna and Lewis Picone, Corsicana; brother and sister-in-law, Harrill and Margie Necessary, Magnolia; grandson and wife, Billie Cole, Jr. and Donna, Corsicana; granddaughters and husbands, Brandi and Tommy White, Sedalia, Mo.; and Jaclyn and Rusty Randall, Purdon; eight great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Muriel Ray
Services for Muriel "Sue" Ray, 71, Kemp, were held July 15, 2003, at Kemp Cemetery, with Msgr. John Brennan officiating. Burial was in Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Ray was born July 12, 1932, in South Dakota, and died July 12, 2003, in Kemp.
She was an office manager and belonged to the Lakeplex Bowling League.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra and Jack Jones, Kemp; Callie Wilkerson, Channelview; son, George "Poter" Ray, Sherman; sister, Ellen Parkins, Bellingham, Wash.
Pallbearers were Marshall Durns, Jim Mays, Jack Jones, John Landrum, Lee Moses and David Sewell.

Joy Ann Lindley Free
Services for Joy Ann Lindley Free, 61, Mabank, formerly of Athens, were held July 14, 2003, at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Farmer officiating. Burial was in Athens Cemetery, Athens.
Free was born Oct. 21, 1941, in Houston to the late Jodus Thurman and Evelyn Lucille Richardson Lindley, and died July 11, 2003, in East Texas Medical Center, Athens. She was preceded in death by brother, Thurman Ray Lindley, 1992.
She was a Mabank resident the past three years and was a resident of Athens for 30 years. She retired from Jordan Health Service in Mount Vernon and was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Athens. She was an avid knitter and loved animals.
Survivors include her husband, John Free, Mabank; daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Charles Fleming, Sr., Seven Points; grandchildren, Charles Fleming, Jr., Mabank; Andrew Fleming, Seven Points; sisters, Lana Smith, Athens; Barbara Potter, Sulphur Springs; numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 130577, Tyler, TX 75713.

Billy Glenn Tinsley
Services for Billy Glenn Tinsley, 79, Seven Points, were held July 11, 2003, at the First Baptist Church, Eustace, with the Rev. Paul McKinney officiating. Interment was in Baker Cemetery, Kaufman County, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Tinsley was born March 1, 1924, in McKinney to Frank and Hallie (Hensley) Tinsley, and died July 9, 2003, in Fort Worth.
He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and received the Purple Heart. He was a thirty second degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Hella Temple, Dallas. He was a past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 1431 AF & AM, Gun Barrel City, and Eastern Star No. 1114 and past Rainbow Dad.
He retired from Otis Engineering in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Tinsley, Seven Points; sons, David Glenn Tinsley and wife, Candi, De Soto; Wayne Glen Tinsley and wife, Sharon, Navasota; daughters, Deborah Kay Sullivan and husband, Jerry, Tomball; Barbara Cole and husband, Don, Crandall; Connie Dunn and husband, Jerry, Eustace; sister, Peggy Grissom, Ingleside; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Felix D. Barton
Services for Felix D. Barton, 78, Gun Barrel City, were held July 10, 2003, at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Barton was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Black Jack, and died July 7, 2003, in Athens.
He was a truck driver and veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for the Mabank ISD as a bus driver and a flagger.
Survivors include his sons, Charles and his wife, Leah Barton, Gun Barrel City; Johnny Lee Barton, Payne Springs; daughters, Patricia and her husband, Larry Stone, Mabank; Connie and her husband, Floyd Tarleton, Mabank; sister, Jimmie Twillee, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Barton, Mark Rhys, Richie Richardson, Bryan Stone, Desmond Storm and Eric Tarleton.

Jamie Nicole Snider
Services for Jamie Nicole Snider, 21, Kaufman, were held July 30, 2003, at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp. Interment followed in the Wilson Chapel Cemetery near Kemp under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home.
Snider was born Sept. 30, 1981, in Dallas to Terry Lynn Snider and Denice Stewart and died July 26, 2003, in Henderson County.
She had lived in the Kemp area most of her life and was a Kemp High School graduate in 2000. She was attending Trinity Valley Community College in Kaufman to pursue a career in nursing.
Survivors include her son, Caden Snider, Kaufman; mother and stepfather, Denice and Dennis Freeman, Kaufman; father, Terry Lynn Snider, Kemp; brother, Terry Lynn Snider II, Athens; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other friends and relatives.

Russell Hall
Services for Russell Shannon Hall, 29, Malakoff, formerly of Payne Springs, were held July 29, 2003, at Grace Fellowship Outreach in Eustace with Pastor John Smith officiating. Interment was in Payne Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Hall was born Nov. 19, 1973, in Grand Saline, and died July 26, 2003. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Omar Cormier, Reginald Hall and Eloise Cormier and nephew, Seth Hilliard.
He was a graduate of Eustace High School and a carpenter in the home building industry.
Survivors include his daughter, Taylor Faye Hall and her mother, Christy Hall, Texarkana; son, Casey William Martin, Balch Springs; mother and stepfather, Dovie and Melvin Sanders, Malakoff; father and stepmother Robbie and Marty Hall, Waco; stepfather, Michael Tidwell, Mabank; brothers, Luke Hall, Cory Tidwell and Justin Tidwell, all of Malakoff; Roddie Hall, Waco; grandmother, Peggy Jean Hall, Rock Hill, S.C.; great grandmother, Rachel Hughes, Canton; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Luke Hall, Cory Tidwell, Justin Tidwell, Roddie Hall, Roger Hall and Trey Howell.
Memorials may be made to Grace Fellowship Outreach, P.O. Box 677, Eustace, TX 75124.

Marorie S. Edwards
Services for Marorie S. Edwards, 95, Mabank, were held at Eubank Memorial Chapel July 30, 2003, with Travis Fulton officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Edwards was born Aug. 10, 1907, in Mangum, Okla, and died July 27, 2003 in Athens.
She was a clerk-typist.
Survivors include her cousin, Diane Cicero, McKinney; nephew, Donald and wife, Patsy Smith, Mabank; other family members and a host of friends.

Wanda Louise Collard
Services for Wanda Louise Collard, 60, Mabank, wee held July 31, 2003, in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral home with Rev. Bobby Jock officiating. Interment followed at the Wheatland Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
Collard was born Oct. 2, 1942, in Waco to Alta and Victor Lasetter and died July 26, 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She was a former longtime resident of Lancaster and belonged to the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Eustace.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, James Collard Sr., Mabank; daughters, Debra Marks and her husband, Dwight, Waxahachie; and Kay Lynn Nayfa and her husband, Tim, Miss.; sons, James Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Quinlan; and Victor Sr. and his wife, Sheila, Whitney; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild and twins on the way; brother, Stanley Lassetter and his wife, Sylvia, Magnolia; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Earl Isaac Rowe
Services for Earl Isaac Rowe, 86, Kaufman, were held July 29, 2003, in the Kemp Cemetery with Rev. Jewel Cross officiating. Masonic graveside services were conducted and interment followed under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Rowe was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Maud, Okla., to the late Senica Otho and Allie Mae Villines Rowe and died July 26, in Dallas.
He had lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area since 1978 having lived in Becker the past five years. He was a member of the Five Points Lodge No. 1137 A.F. & A.M. in El Paso. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1982 as an engineer having been employed there his entire working life.
Survivors include his wife, Tommie Lou Rowe, Becker; son, Lonnie Rowe and wife, Irene, Dallas; and sister, Maudine Cross and husband, Jewel, Grand Prairie; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Velmer Sue Magures
Services for "Missie" Velmer Sue Buie Magures, 72, Kemp, were held July 29, 2003, at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin chapel in Italy with Rev. Grady Cashion officiating. Interment followed at the Kemp Cemetery in Kemp, under the direction of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home, Waxahachie.
Magures was born July 8, 1931, in Frisco to Wylie and Jenny Sheppard, and died July 25, 2003. She was preceded in death by a husband, Charles Thomas Buie and siblings, J.W. Sheppard, Clay W. Sheppard, her twin, Delmer Lou Sheppard and an infant sister.
She grew up in Lone Cedar and graduated from Avalon High School in 1949, and presently resided in Kemp.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Richard Dwayne Magures, Kemp; children, Patsy Buie Thompson, Italy; Thomas M. Buie, Midlothian; Paula Buie Wilson, Susan and Roland Green, Charles W. Buie, all of Italy; "Buster" D.H. and Jill Buie, Waxahachie; Sheila and Mark McAllister, Eustace; and Tracye and Bill Dozier, Arizona; brother, Don and Ruth Sheppard, Daytona Beach, Fla.; sisters, Nova Dee and Robert L. Jenkins, Blooming Grove; and Mary Alice and W.A. Jenkins, Nash; grandchildren, Clint Huskins, Lenny Thompson, Justin Buie Gaither, Drew Wilson, Chase Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Alison Green, Jennifer Buie, Emily Buie, Jessica Buie, Preston Dozier, Cody McAllister and Allison McAllister; one great grandchild, Leonardo Michael Thompson.
Pallbearers were Steve Sheppard, Ronnie Sheppard, Joshua Sheppard, Rodney Jenkins, Roland Green and mark McAllister.
Honorary pallbearers L.H. Hearron, Robert L. Jenkins, W.A. Jenkins, Billy Frank Magures and Danny Jenkins.

Allen Mangham
Services for Allen Mangham, 91, Kaufman, were held July 29, 2003, at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home chapel in Kaufman with the Rev. Jerry Griffin officiating. Interment followed in the Kaufman Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kaufman.
Mangham was born Aug. 1, 1911, in Kaufman to the late J.N. and Lela Clayton Mangham and died July 26, 2003, in Athens. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Patton in 1988, and his second wife, Jan Loftin in 2002.
He had lived in Kaufman all his life and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Kaufman.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and relatives.

Elmore Aldon Brummett
Graveside services for Elmore Aldon Brummett, were held July 26, 2003, at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas.
Brummett was born June 20, 1918, in Shattuck, Okla, to Glen Richard and Fay Hawk Brummett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda; son-in-law, Ed Ferguson; and granddaughter, Lisa Dawn.
He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Ferguson and Ruth Blackwell and husband Keith; granddaughters, Jeanne Moody and husband John; Monica Garza and five great grandchildren.

Pearl Hazel
Services for Pearl Hammer Hazel, 68, Cherokee, will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Oak lawn Cemetery in Mabank, under the direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home, Inc., San Saba.
The family will receive frineds at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, Highway 274 South, Seven Points, Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Hazel was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Payne Springs, to the late Arnet Hammer and Ruby Chitty Hammer, and died July 31, 2003, at her residence in Cherokee.
She worked as an accountant for several companies. She loved people, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include son, Mike Hazel and his wife, Louise, Cherokee; grandsons, Christopher Hazel and Patrick Hazel and his wife, Shaina; brothers, J.W. "Dub" Hammer, Payne Springs; and Billy Hammer and his wife, Jean, Kemp; sister, Arnita Shelton and her husband, Jerry, Ben Wheeler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
