Mabel Hankins
Services for Mabel Hankins, 88 of Desoto formerly of Seven Points, were held September 23, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City with Bro. Dennis Gorena officiating.
Burial was Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington, Indiana under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points
Hankins was born April 9, 1916 in Monroe County, Indiana to John H. and Retta Richardson, and passed away September 21, 2004 in Desoto.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hankins who passed away in 1990.
She was a member of Gun Barrel First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son Larry Hankins and his wife, Aneta of Duncanville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Doug and Angelina Hankins of Midlothian, Tony and Jennifer Hankins of Duncanville; great grand children Nicholas, Lauren, Allison, Taylor and Abby.

O. T. Denman
Services for O.T. Denman, 90 of Malakoff, were held Friday, Sep. 24, at the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malakoff with Dan Wilson officiating.
Burial was in the Post Oak Cemetery south of Malakoff under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home.
Denman was born Nov. 27, 1913 in Grapeland to Edward H. and Emma Denman, and passed away Wednesday, Sep. 22 in Malakoff.
He was a retired Minister with the Church of Christ and for seventy years he ministered at numerous churches including the Church of Christ in Malakoff. He married Geneva Nance in Teague, Texas on September 20, 1943.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Geneva Denman of Malakoff; children and spouses, Byron and Judy Denman of Athens; Pam and Andy Anderson of Malakoff; Debbie and Eddie Wafford of Scurry; sister, Ruth Hogan of Grapeland; grandchildren, Donnie Williams, Angela Guice, Matt Denman, Melanie Denman, Nicki Tomkins, Robin Rogers; five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donnie Williams, Kenny Rodgers, Bryan Tompkins, Matt Denman, Tom Rhodes and Ken Wilbanks.

Lester L. Nabors
Services for Lester L. Nabors, 85, of Kerens, were held Sept. 29 at Calvary Baptist Church of Trinidad with the Rev. Jim Bob Farmer officiating.
Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery on U.S. Highway 175 under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Nabors was born July 22, 1919, in Sulphur Bluff, and passed away Sept. 25 in Kerens.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linnie Mae (Duncan) Nabors; his father, James Madison Nabors; and two daughters, Mary Ella Cope and Glenda Mae Thrasher.
He was a farmer, a veteran of the U.S.Army, and a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Wilda Nabors of Kerens; daughter, Brenda K. (Nabors) Howell of Malakoff; son Boyce Nabors of Wills Point; two step-sons, Ron Lightfoot of Indiana and Barry Lightfoot of Odessa; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Erma Sue Collins of Lubbock; 10 caregivers, Faye Baker, Tina Martinez, Sharon Brown, Sarah Raymond, Saunya Loff, Debbie Watson, Sandra Wood, Tamera Tilly, Jon and Lila of Hospice of Cedar Creek Lake and Angels @ Home; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Denver Spears, Lloyd Thrasher, Charlie Williams and Richard Craft.

William B. Hodges II
William B. Hodges II was born Nov. 14, 1930, in New Orleans. He passed away Sept. 27 in Tyler.
He is suvived by his wife, Dorothy M. Hodges; two daughters, Brenda Tolbert and Denali Rollins; two stepsons, Darryl Hewitt and Gerald P. Mahauler; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon Hodges.
He enjoyed much of his last nine years traveling in a motor home. He was well known for being a devoted Cowboy and Dodger fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Due to other arrangements, no funeral service will be held.

Louise Groom
Services for Louise Groom, 87, of McKinney, were held Sept. 27 at Elm Grove Church in Van Zandt County with Bro. Ken Maddox and Bro. Greg Groom officiating.
Services were under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Groom was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Van Zandt County to Ira and Annie Estelle (Johnson) Scott. She passed away Sept. 23 in McKinney.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton O. Groom, and two sisters, Lois Potts and "Jac" Hall.
She was of Church of Christ faith and grew up in Van Zandt County. After marrying Clifton Groom, she moved to Dallas. She worked and retired from General Motors. She had lived in McKinney for the past several years.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ira Clifton and Sherrie Groom of Lindale; two grandchildren, Greg and Sheri Groom and Gayla Bartlett; four great-grandchildren, Shawn, Kenell, Jason and Chrystal; brother, J. R. Scott and wife, Jenna of Mabank; three sisters, Redith Trawick of Canton, Ruth Smith of Holly Lake and Bessie White and husband, Billy of Mabank; three step-grandsons and nine step-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Janice Terry
Services for Janice Terry, 75, Mabank, formerly of Tyler, were held Sept. 28 at Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Directors Chapel, Tyler, with the Revs. Glen Blackmon and Karen Morris officiating.
Burial was in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Milton to the late Thomas Edward Sr. and Lucy Belle Tanner Terry, and passed away Sept. 25 in Tyler.
She lived in Tyler 60 years prior to moving to Mabank two years ago. She retired as an operator from Southwestern Bell Telephone, and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mabank.
She was preceded in death by brother, Thomas Edward Terry Jr.
Survivors include sister, Clara Juanita McHam, Mabank; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Dennis Terry, Damon Terry, Bill McHam, Scott O'Brien, Skip Winchester and James Winchester.
Daughters of Wesley Quilters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Frances Wilson Lamb
Services for Frances Wilson Lamb, 65, of Eustace, are pending with Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
She was born Sept. 10, 1939, in Pleasant Grove to James Asa and Helen Ruth (Rickley) Wilson. She passed away Sept. 24 in Athens.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Chermyine Wilson of Gun Barrel City; sons Allen Lee Wilson of Arkansas, James Jefferson Wilson of Gun Barrel City and George Anthony Smith of Eustace; eight grandchildren, Melissa Chermyine Hancock, Latisha Ann Hancock, Danny Ray Hancock, Kalyn Marie Wilson, Christian LeAnn Wilson, Courtney Ann Smith, Chloe Joyce Smith and James Jefferson Wilson Jr.; a great-grandchild, Angelina Nicole Hancock; brother and sister-in-law, Richard R. and Judy Wilson of Trinidad; niece Shelia Wilson of Trinidad; and nephew, Richard W. Wilson of Trinidad.

Melvin Steve Bass
Services for Melvin Steve Bass, 54, of Groesbeck (formerly of Athens), were held Sept. 27 at DFW National Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Glosup officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Bass was born April 5, 1950, in Athens to Ernest Oran and Ava Nell Stephens Bass. He passed away Sept. 22 in Groesbeck after a short illness.
He served in the U.S.Army during the Vietnam War. He loved his work, cutting and hauling wood, and he enjoyed the outdoors and his little cat.
Survivors include his son, Kelly Steve Bass of Gun Barrel City; daughter, Tina Woods of Payne Springs; four sisters, Brenda Bass of Athens, Patsy Janell McCarley of Athens, Linda House of Frankston and Ernestine Marie Bass of Rusk; brother Elyn Ennis Bass of Stephenville; four grandchildren, Christopher, Justin, SteveAnna and Blanca; close friends Betty and David Ellis, and other friends and relatives.
Pallbearers were Ennis Bass, Dwain McCarley, David Ellis, Kelly Bass and Mark Ellis.

Mattie Lee Hurley
Services for Mattie Lee Hurley, 85, of Gun Barrel City, were held Sept. 27 at Eubank Cedar Creek with the Rev. Mike Adavan officiating.
Burial was at Southland Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Hurley was born May 15, 1919, in Dallas, and passed away Sept. 24 in Athens.
She was a seamstress and had been a resident of Gun Barrel City for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Pinknie Taylor, and by her mother, Lindora Alice (Cox) Taylor.
Survivors include her nephew, Coy Keeling and wife, Judy of Gun Barrel City; nieces, Betty Womack of Gun Barrel City; Joan Anderson of Gun Barrel City; and Dorothy Wilkins and husband, Bill of Mabank; great-nieces, great-nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

Nona M. Warner
Services for Nona M. Warner, 81, of Mabank, were held Sept. 24 at Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with David Bell and Travis Fulton officiating.
Burial was in Payne Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Warner was born on Oct. 31, 1922, in Spicewood, and passed away Sept. 23 in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd H. Holloway, her mother, Mae H. (Hyman) Holloway, and two brothers, Clyde M. Holloway and Floyd M. Holloway.
She had been a candy maker. She was previously of Cleveland, Texas, and had lived in Mabank for 25 years.
Survivors include two sons, Alonzo "Jay" Warner Jr. and wife Delayne of Athens, and Henry F. Warner and wife Shirl of California; two daughters, Lillie Yeo and husband Butch of Houston, and Ollie Mayers and husband Chuck of Houston; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Britt of Dayton, Dessie Lehmann of Spring and Bessie Green; two brothers, Lloyd Holloway of El Campo and Gary Holloway of Cleveland; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were members of the Payne Springs Fire Department.

Steven Swearengen
Services for Steven Lance Swearengen, 43, Seagoville, were held Aug. 31, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Jacobs officiating.
Interment was in Langford, Cemetery, Evant.
Swearengen was born Nov. 19, 1960, in Odessa, and died Aug. 29, 2004, in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard N. Swearengen and mother, Carol (Robinson) Swearengen.
He was a talented craftsman and carpenter, employed by the Collins families for many years.
His smile and laughter will be remembered for years.
Survivors include his cousins, Debra Schuster, Crest Hill, Ill., Carrolyn Jo Priest and Brian W. Swearengen; many aunts, uncles, other cousins and friends.
