Services for Helen Richard, 79 of Payne Springs, were held Oct. 4, at Eubank Memorial Chapel, Mabank, with Rev. George Yarger officiating.
Burial was at Moorehead-Melton Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 14, 1924 in Roxton, and passed away Oct. 2 in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Friday; her mother, Ora Mae Canada; her husband, Sonny Richard; her son, Ronnie Richard; and her daughter, Karen Jean Richard.
She was a homemaker; a member of the Ladies Aux. VFW in Seven Points; a member of Harbor Baptist Church in Payne Springs. She was previously of Dallas and had lived in this area for 35 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Richard) Noble of Mabank; daughter, Darlene Richard of Crandall; sister, Lois Brown of Dallas; sister, Faye Drain of Wylie; brother, Charles Friday of Iowa Park; niece, Barbara Johnston of Lewisville; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Gavin Patrick
Services for Gavin Patrick, 4, Kemp, were held Nov. 8, 2004, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Interment followed at High Cemetery in Van Zandt County.
He was born Joshua Gavin Patrick in Dallas Feb. 29, 2000, and died in Gun Barrel City, Nov. 5, 2004.
He attended Pre-Kindergarten in Kemp.
Survivors include his father, Josh Patrick, and Tammy Martin of Kemp; mother, Arlene (Chilton) Patrick of Wellington; sisters, Jaddie Patrick, Katie Martin and Christina Martin, all of Kemp; paternal grandparents, Curtis Nance of Largo, Fla. and Dawn Kimbrell of Seven Points; maternal grandparents, Jan Colmenero of Haskell, Ben Chilton of Wellington, and Duaine and Donna Walsh of Mabank; paternal great grandparents, Wayne and Ann Nance of Seven Points, Marquita Patrick of Payne Springs and Polly Darden of Largo, Fla.; paternal great great grandmother, Faye Nell Nance, Mabank; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Curtis Nance, Joey Patrick, Chance Chilton and Greg Palicos.

Calvin Busby
Services for Calvin George Busby, 71, Tool, were held Nov. 6, 2004, at the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points. Burial was in Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home.
Busby was born Aug. 21, 1933, in Grand Saline to John Grady and Ona Brazil Busby and died Nov. 3, 2004, in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, two sons, Calvin George Busby Jr., and Ronald Corne, and a daughter, Debbie Gale West.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post in Seven Points.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sammye Busby, Tool; mother, Ona Busby, Grand Saline; children, Gil Busby, Dallas; Georgia Anne Dooley, California; Judy Ervin, Van; Bill Moore, Dallas; Debbi Batchelor, West Tawakoni; Diane Schultz, Payne Springs; Darren Busby, College Station; Karen Ramsey, Garland; brother, Billy Ray Busby, Dallas; and sister, Viola Tidwell, Dallas; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donny Schultz, Brian Schultz, Junior Mixon, Bill Moore, Rick Brewer and R.D. Myers.

Dorothy Edwards
Services for Dorothy Edwards, 82, Mabank, were held Nov. 8, 2004, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Upchurch officiating. Burial was in Mesquite City Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Edwards was born April 16, 1922, in Dallas and died Nov. 5, 2004, in Mabank. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy (Morgan) Bryant and her father, James Leon Bryant.
She was a homemaker and resident of Mabank for the past 20 years.
Survivors include her son, Jack A. Edwards, Mabank; daughters, Gayland Beasom, Brownsboro; Charlene Hammond and husband, Bill, Gun Barrel City; Teresa Hawthorne and husband, Tim, Gun Barrel City; sister, Clementine Browning and Gene, Gun Barrel City; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many other family members and a host of friends.

Gary L. Hoyer
Gary L. Hoyer, 75, Gun Barrel City, died Nov. 6, 2004, in Athens. Arrangements are under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Hoyer was born July 6, 1929, in Wellington, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Willisene (Pilant) Hoyer and father, Henry William Hoyer.
He was a conductor.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Elizabeth Starcher and husband, James R., Gun Barrel City; stepdaughter; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Family requests memorials be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219.

David R. Coffee
Services for David Riley Coffee, 61, Leagueville were held Nov. 10, 2004, in the Lake Athens Baptist Church, Athens, with the Rev. John Green officiating. Burial was in Leagueville Cemetery, under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Coffee was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Dallas to David Riley Coffee Sr., and Flossie Grissom Coffee and died Nov. 7, 2004, in ETMC, Athens.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Rangers Special Forces during the Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert M14, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, Leagueville; sons, David Ray Coffee, Centerville, Tenn.; Larry James Troy, Huntsville; and Travis Hollis Taylor Coffee, Canton; daughters, Sherile Lynn Carpenter, Poynor; Stephanie Pike Coffee, Cedar Creek Lake area; and Linda Dawn Faircloth, Leagueville; brother, Lloyd D. Coffee, Hewitt; sister, Carolyn Conch, Hubbard; 11 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Patsy Furqueron Larue
Patsy Furqueron Larue, 60, Mesquite, died Nov. 6, 2004, in Mesquite. She was born Sept. 8, 1944, in Dallas.
Survivors include her children, Sharon Springer, Cedar Creek Lake area; John Martin III, Kerrville; Robin Robinson, Cedar Creek Lake area; David Wesley Martin, Dallas; former husband and best friend, John Martin II, Dallas; and her only grandson, the light of her eye, "Little Skipper," Kerrville.

Michael Charles Gros Sr.
Graveside services were held for Michael Charles Gros Sr., 50, Kemp, at Ware Cemetery in Kaufman County, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp. Services were officiated by Reverends Leonard Eason and Billie Madden.
He was born November 26, 1953, in New Orleans, La, to Henry Joseph Gros Sr. and Jeanne Morris Gros. He died at his residence in Kaufman County on Nov. 11, 2004.
Gros grew up in Baton Rouge, La. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1972, and served one tour in Vietnam before getting out in 1974.
He then moved to Dallas, where he worked at Cooper Airmotive, at Love Field. In January, 1980, he married Toni L. Madden. He was a member of the Styx Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael C. Gros II and Elizabeth; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa A. and Matt Strong; grandchild, Megan R. Cox; girlfriend, Diann Wilson; mother, Jeanne Morris; sisters and brothers-in-law, Trudy and Gene Dennison, Merita and Michael McKey, and Molly and James Alston; brothers, Henry J. Gros, Carl Gros, and Earl J. Gros; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
His father, Henry J. Gros Sr.; and sisters, Henrietta Smith, Mary Ann Gros, and Nagatha Gros; a niece, Tracy Allen; and nephew, Carl Joseph Gros Jr., all preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Shannon Kilabrew, Tom Zackmann, Clarence Howard, Brandon Freeman, Roger Dale Brewner and Dennis Smith.

Helen Long
Services for Helen Vernell Long, 77, Gun Barrel City, were held Nov. 14, 2004, at the Hilliard Funeral Home Chapel with Ricky Flowers officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van.
Long was born April 4, 1927, in Prairieville to the late Theodore Augusta Flowers and Laura Edna Guinn Flowers, and died Nov. 11, 2004, in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Weldon Long; son, Dennis Ray Long; and brother, Donald Flowers.
She had lived in Gun Barrel City since 1970, She was a homemaker.
Survivors include son, Larry Charles Long, Gun Barrel City; daughters, Brenda Pritchett, Breckenridge; Elaine Shearin, New Mexico; Nancy Dennie, Seven Points; Iris Walters, Eustace; and Faith Mullins, Round Rock; brothers, Vernon Flowers, Mesquite; Harold Flowers, Wilmer Hutchins; and Lloyd Wayne Flowers, English; sisters, Avon Eads, Mabank; Evon Smith, Clarksville; Barbara Jean Shipley, Mesquite; Joanne Stanford, Compton, Ark.; and LaFaye Patterson, Scurry; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lonnie Hairgrove, Chris Billings, Gary Mason, Charles Pritchett, Tim Christenson and Brad Stewart.

John Garner Brumley
Services of remembrance were held for John Garner Brumley, Nov. 13, 2004, at the First Assembly of God Church in Eustace, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp. Services were officiated by Reverends Kenneth Hill and James Howard. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Percilla.
He was born in Palestine, Nov. 10, 1932, son of Walter Jackson and Betty Mae (Justice) Brumley. He died at his residence in Eustace, Nov. 11, 2004.
Brumley married Hazel Loretta Ward, in Palestine, Nov. 1, 1957. He was a Corporal in the 25th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, serving 2 tours in Korea. Brumley attended the First Assembly of God Church in Eustace.
Survivors include his wife Hazel Brumley, Eustace; daughter and son-in-law, Tammie Loretta and R. Don Hood, Tyler; son and daughter-in-law, Arthur Dale and Barbara Brumley, Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren, Amber Loretta Hood Rogers, Angel Faith Brumley McRae, Christopher Daniel Hood, Michael James Parlington and Jeremy Mark Parlington; seven great grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Rogers, Brennan James Rogers, Baileigh Dawne Rogers, Dylan Taylor McRae, Zoe Brianna Lee Rogers, Hayden Nicholas Parlington and Sommer Faith McRae; his added crew, Cooper Thomas Gillespie and Chloe Nicole McManus; sister, Barbara Marie Clarity of Lufkin; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Greg Ward, Tony Erwin, Steve Carey, Troy Gillespie, Mike McManus and Michael Clarady.
Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Smith, Lonnie Richardson, Phil Ward, Garry Smith, Norvin French, Joe Hooper, Jim Montgomery, Roe Cleaver, Ray Davis, John Griffin, Jessie Lowry, Trae Morton and Kyle Morton.

Truman Leo Howell Sr.
Services for Truman Leo Howell Sr., 61, Malakoff, were held Nov. 16, 2004, in Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Larry Smeal officiating. Burial was in Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Howell was born March 29, 1943, in Denison, and died Nov. 12, 2004, in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvie Howell and mother, Nessie (Stewart) Howell.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Previously of Dallas, he lived in Malakoff since 1983.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Claudia (Wild) Howell, Malakoff; sons, Randy Howell, Midlothian, Leo Howell Jr., Eustace; Jarrold Howell, Payne Springs; Bradley Howell, Dallas; and Richard Howell, Denison; nine grandchildren.

John M. Buchanan III
Services for John M. Buchanan III, 63, Mesquite, were held Nov. 16, 2004, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. George Yarger officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Buchanan was born Feb. 22, 1941, in Dallas County and died Nov. 14, 2004, in Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Buchanan; his father, John M. Buchanan Jr.; and mother, Rosie Buchanan.
He retired from Rock-Tenn Paper Co., Dallas in 2002. He loved the sport of drag racing.
Survivors include his wife, Jo (Pruett) Winters, Mesquite; son, John M. Buchanan IV, Pennsylvania; daughters, Jennifer Gomez and husband, Richard, Mesquite; and Terri McCormack and husband, Donny, Forney; grandchildren, Tamie, Meghan, Trevor, Hanna, Lydia, Joshua, Sean Jr. and Heater; stepchildren, Sean Winters Sr. Hewitt; and Staci Winters, Longview.
Pallbearers were Sean Winters, Bill Carroll, Matthew Tompson, Joshua Tompson, Gordon Couch and Sean Winters Jr.

Paul Cook
Services for Paul "Buddy" Cook, 72, Gun Barrel City, will be held Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at the American Legion Post 310 in Gun Barrel City under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Cook was born June 11, 1932, in Fort Worth and died Nov. 11, 2004, in Athens.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Mead and mother, Pauline (Pate) Mead.
He was an electrician and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard and American Legion Post 310.
He was a member of the IBEW for 50 years. He lived in Gun Barrel City for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Cook, Gun Barrel City; daughters, Christi Rose and husband, Randy, Gun Barrel City; Carla Boyd, Gun Barrel City; son, Craig Cook, Gun Barrel City; grandchildren, Bridgette Rounsavall, Forney; Zachary Neighbors, Gun Barrel City; Derrick Neighbors, Rockwall; and Bardford Boyd, Gun Barrel City; great-grandchild, Skylar Rounsavall, Forney; and mother-in-law, Mildred Baxter, Mabank.
