Thomas Brown Tyson Jr.
Thomas Brown Tyson Jr., one of the earliest Houston directors of public services to promote a rail-based mass transit system, died Wednesday at Conroe Regional Medical Center. He was 75.
Tyson died of heart failure after a sudden illness said his wife of 54 years, Helen, 73.

Mary Virginia Smither
Mary Virginia Smither, 95, passed away on Oct. 4, 2003. Mrs. Smither was born Jan. 22, 1908, to Hubert Leland Atkinson and Harriett Emily Williams Atkinson.
Mrs. Smither attended Cameron Public Schools and the University of Texas.
She taught English literature at the high school in Jefferson and at Huntsville High School.
She married John Thomas Smither on Thanksgiving Day in 1948.
Mrs. Smither led a very active and productive life which led her to involvement in many civic and patriotic organizations to include The National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of America, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Huguenot Society, founding member of the Walker County Genealogical Society, Outlook Book Review Club and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

Ann Roskydal
Ann Roskydal was born April 4, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to Arthur and Lela Fay (Smith) Neill, and passed away April 7, 2004, at the age of 61.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 10, 2004, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Garrison officiating.
Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.

Sadie Lea "Miss Sadie" Talley
Funeral services for Sadie Lea "Miss Sadie" Talley, 104, of Longview, will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in the Chapel of the Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Chaplain Leo Bailey officiating.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Oakwood Cemetery, Addicks Addition, in Huntsville, with the Revs. Charlie Hall and Jerry Elrod officiating.
Mrs. Talley passed away Friday evening, July 30, at Highland Pines Nursing Center.

Ellison Collins
Ellison Collins, 76, of Huntsville, passed away Sept. 16, 2004 in Montgomery County. He was born Dec. 25, 1927 in Trinity County.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dennal Elmore officiating.
Burial will be at Lacy Community Cemetery under the direction of Williams and Sons Funeral Home.

Oliver Harvey Faulkner Jr.
Oliver Harvey Faulkner Jr., 73, passed away on Dec. 8, 2004 after a long illness.
He was born Sept. 16, 1931 in Dierks, Ark. to Oliver Harvey and Lena Loyd Faulkner Sr.
Oliver was a graduate of Dierks High School and went on to attend Henderson State University on a football scholarship playing for the "Reddies."
While attending college, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served for 12 years.
Oliver moved to Huntsville in 1967 where he and his wife Sally established Haley's Bar-B-Que which they operated until 1993.

Jim Bacon
Jim Bacon was born May 12, 1968 in Dallas, and passed away in Houston, Texas on Dec. 10, 2004.
He attended Huntsville High School and went on to attend TSTI in Waco.
At the current time, he worked at the Old Navy Store in Willowbrook Mall.
He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Browder and stepfather, James Browder; brother and wife, Mark and Sally Bacon; sister, Candy Kimball; nephews, Chase Bacon, Taylor Bacon, Sam Bacon and Adam Komar; nieces, Katy Bacon and Paige Komar; great-aunt, Sammie Lee Robinson and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Earl Bacon.

Horace (Knock) Williams
Funeral services for Horace (Knock) Williams, 65, of Huntsville are set for Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Hills Chapel Baptist Church under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Michael Crooks officiating.

Robie Lee Garrett
Funeral services for Robie Lee Garrett, 87, of Bedias, are set for Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Bedias Baptist Church in Bedias, TX under the direction of Williams & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be at Harper Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Pickney officiating.
Pallbearers are Archie J. Lewis, Sandy Henderson, Freddie L. Dickey, Leon Harper, Darryl Brooks, and Bonnie Stewart, Jr.

Melvin C. McKinney
Funeral services for Melvin C. McKinney, 22, of Coldsprings are set for Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Enterprise Tabernacle Baptist Church under the direction of Williams & Sons Funeral Home.
Burial will be at McCombs Cemetery in Coldsprings with Rev. David Goffney, Sr. officiating.
Pallbearers are Robert Blanks, D'Aurtrol Harrison, Charlie C. White, Jesse Wyatt, Alvin Wyatt and Tommy McKinney.

John Edward (Jacky Boy) Moore
Funeral services for John Edward (Jacky Boy) Moore, 66, of Huntsville, are set for Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Methodist Church under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Northside Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Levingston officiating.

Francis Marion Rathke
Known to her family and friends as Nana, Francis Marion Rathke, 102, born on June 12, 1898, passed away at her granddaughter's home in Kaufman, Texas on April 22, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Rathke, Sr., her beloved daughter, Margarette Rathke, her brother, Charles Thompson and sister, Minnie Bishop.

Maydean Hardy
Funeral services for Maydean Hardy, 81, of New Waverly will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 18, 2001, at Hawthorne Baptist Church in New Waverly with Rev. Gene Rotramel officiating.
Interment will follow in Old Waverly Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Hardy was born on October 19, 1919, in New Waverly, Texas and passed away on June 15, 2001, in New Waverly, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Hardy of New Waverly; son, John Hardy, Jr. and wife, Ann of New Waverly; sister, Ann Lee Neiderhofer of Plantersville; grandchildren, Lindsay Beth Hardy and Jessica Kendall Hardy both of New Waverly; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.
Pallbearers to serve are Edward Lee Traylor, Roy Hall, Robert Ray Hardy, Joseph Lee Hardy, Lynn Hardy, Don Bush, Karl Hardy and Frank Roberts.
Visitation will be 3:00-7:00 P.M., Sunday, June 17, 2001, at the Metcalf Funeral Home.
