“The Broken Chain”

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to loose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. Curtis ‘Rob’ Roberts

Loyal member of TDCJ family

Curtis “Rob” Roberts was born Nov. 8, 1961, and passed away Aug. 3, 2006.

If you’re lucky, every once in a while you meet them — those larger-than-life characters who defy definition and refuse to be tamed by common expectations. Like the wild mustang whose instinct lies in unfenced terrain, it’s simply not in their bold nature to yield easily to life’s limitations.

This was our Rob. His complex nature was not easily understood — nor did he necessarily care for it to be. He was real. He was true. What you saw was what you got — and we sure got a lot. He touched us all with his own brand of uniqueness. He frustrated us; he tickled us; and he always, always helped in so many generous ways. He brought free and irreverent laughter to our lives and real and unapologetic love to our hearts — in a way that only he could bring. The quiet intensity of his pure soul and gentle heart will resonate on and on. And we are all the richer for it.

You left us much too early, but the brilliant color you brought to our lives is forever in our hearts. We love you deeply, Rob, and we will never, never forget.

Rob will be lovingly remembered by his survivors: his beloved and cherished wife, Donna Roberts; his beloved children, Shannon and James Miranda, Crystal Roberts, Allison Roberts, Gary Romanski, and Brandon Roberts; his beloved mother, Gwendolyn Roberts; his beloved siblings, Donald and Kimberly Roberts, and Kathy and James Whitten; his beloved grandchildren, Noah Miranda and Austin Miranda; and a multitude of beloved family members and friends.

Rob was born in Houston, and lived in Huntsville for the last 10-plus years. He was a loyal member of the TDCJ Family at the Estelle Unit for 24 years. He was an avid fisherman, motocross rider, and NASCAR enthusiast.

Family will take visitors at the Huntsville Funeral Home on Aug. 8, from 5 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Northside Baptist Church on FM 980. Rob will lay in peace at Brooke Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home.
