Aaron Joseph Casal

Aaron Joseph Casal, 82, of Victoria, Texas departed his earthly life on Nov. 19, 2006. Joe was born on June 1, 1924, to Aaron Jasper Casal and Grace Gibson Ewing Casal.

During World War II, Joe served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Minneapolis and the U.S.S. Heywood. After eighteen months stationed on Tulagi Island, he then served two years aboard the U.S.S. Wilkes-Barre.

Joe was employed by the Texas City Independent District for thirty-three years; the first three as an Industrial Arts teacher and the next thirty years as an administrator. He retired in 1982.

He was a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, was a Past-President of the Texas City Optimist Club, and served on the Board of the San Jacinto Lung Association of Galveston County. He also served on the board of the Sam Houston State University Alumni Association.

Joe was a member of the First Christian Church most of his adult life and had served both as Deacon and Trustee.

He loved the outdoors, being an avid hunter and fisherman. He created many happy memories while hunting and fishing with family and friends. During his retirement years, he enjoyed wood-carving and took pleasure in his ministry of giving hand-carved crosses.

Joe is survived by his wife of sixty years, Jacquelyn Smith Casal; a son Joseph Bradley Casal and wife, Danielle of Victoria; one daughter, Mary Casal Wood and husband, Garry of Amarillo. The grandchildren include Tara Leigh Holder and husband, Tanner, Kaytlin Amanda and Erin Danielle Hearne, Braden Graham Casal, Allison Grace Casal, and Michael Bradley Wood; one sister, Pasy Luna and husband, Edward of Temple.

There will be no funeral services. Those desiring may send memorials to First Christian Church, Victoria, The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Etheline Davison

Home Going services for Mrs. Etheline Davison will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the First new Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, located at 911 Old Madisonville Road, Huntsville.

Burial will immediately follow in the Falba Cemetery in Falba, Texas. The Rev. L.T. Hall will officiate.

There will be a wake service on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, begining at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Etheline Davison was born on Sept. 24, 1919, in Falba, Texas. She was the loving wife to Mr. W.O.B. Davison, who preceded her in death and the proud mother of seven children.

Mrs. Davison leaves to cherish a well-lived life, her seven children; Bobby Davison (Valerie), Harold Davison (Anna), both of Houston, Texas, Willie Davison and Wendell Davison, both of Huntsville; three daughters; Emma Taplin, Deborah Gilbert and Brenda Owens (James), all of Huntsville; four sisters; Rachel Archie, Willie Lee Goffney, Effie Benson, Loise Spivey, all from Houston, Texas, two brothers-in-law; Calvin Smith, of Houston, Texas and James Smith (Mary), of Washington, D.C., one sister-in-law; Anita Norman, of Houston, Texas, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thelma Loper McGown

Funeral service will be held on Oct. 24, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home for Thelma “Freck” Loper McGown.

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. till service time.

Graveside will be at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Freck lived most of her young life in the small town of Sugar Land, Texas.

She later made her home in Corpus Christi, Houston, Palestine and Trinity, Texas.

She was a graduate of Sugar Land High School in 1928.

Freck was a lifetime homemaker as well as being active in civic and church activities.

She was 97 years old at the time of her death.

Freck was married to Rane McCown in 1928 until his death in 1986.

Freck is preceded in death by husband, Rane McCown, son Rane McCown Jr., daughter, Connie Hains, granddaughter, Dorian Hains Wilson; and brothers and sisters; Ninette Brune, Fan Houston, Dick Loper, Lee Gormon, Janie Milling, Lois Milling, Lorene Daniel and Dolly Landin.

Freck is survived by daughter, Carolyn Holt and husband Joyce, grandchildren, Kirk Holt and wife Janet, Kelly Holt, Kim Hethirington and husband Ken; also grandchildren, Mary, Adrain and Rane III McCown.

Ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Good friends & caregivers, Gloria Collier, Mary Beckett, Shirley Berry, Earlene Kizzah and Dreama Kobocious. Freck had many friends in Westwood Shores.

Sarah Branch

Mrs. Sarah Branch, 82, of Huntsville passed away Nov. 16, 2007, in Walker County. She was born April 16, 1925, in Harris County. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Pastor, Rev. Donnie R. Tubbs, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Colony Cemetery.

Elizabeth Geraldine Greco

Elizabeth Geraldine Greco, 82, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, in Huntsville. A memorial service was held at Brooke Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007.

Ms. Greco was born in Houston, Texas, on April 3, 1925, to Ida and Jesse Altman. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald; daughter, Robin Louise and brothers, Jessie, Bo and C.E. Altman.

She is survived by her loving children, Gloria Ann Harris, Davette Akey, Kathy Smith, James Harris and Mary Meehan; one brother, James Altman; one sister, Wanda Bone; 12 grandchildren, Michele, Shannon, Christina, Stacey, Rachel, James, Larry, Jenny, Brittany, Alexys, Michael and Heather; great-grandchildren, Heidi, Micah, Alyssa, Kierstyn, Peyton, Olivia, Madeline, Isabella, Dylan, Hayley and Reece.

Annie Rose Stone

Mrs. Annie Rose Stone, 97, of Point Blank passed away Nov. 24, 2007, in Walker County. She was born June 28, 1910, in San Jacinto County. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 11 a.m. at Eastside C.O.G.I.C. Burial will follow in the Todd Robinson Cemetery.

Kathryn Fogle Dierke

Kathryn Fogle Dierke, 72, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, in Conroe, Texas. She was born on Oct. 16, 1935, in Plainview, Texas, and raised in Freer, Texas. Shortly after graduation she met her husband of 53 years, C.W. “Dirk” Dierke, Sr. They moved to Bishop, Texas, where she raised their three children and worked as a secretary for the First United Methodist Church and Bishop High School as an assistant Librarian. She devoted her life to her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents H.W. “Curly” Fogle, Sr. and Cula Eloise McCamant Fogle, her brother H. W. “Herbie” Fogle, Jr. and her son C. W. “Dub” Dierke, Jr. Mrs. Dierke is survived by her husband C.W. “Dirk”; her daughter, Katy Duncan and her husband Richard of Huntsville; her son Charles H. Dierke his wife Kelly and two grandsons sons Taylor and Lane of Argyle, Texas, and daughter in law, Marie Dierke of Rio Rancho, N.M. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Dent Fogle Solomon and her husband Jimmy L. of Statesboro, Ga.; nephew, Lloyd Solomon his wife Heidi and grand-nieces Haley and Liane of Atlanta, Ga.; niece, Marjorie Solomon and grand nephew Parker of Richmond Hill, Ga.; niece, Lasca Fogle-Asp and her husband Charles of Fargo, N.D.

A memorial service will be held, Saturday, Dec.1, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary at the First United Methodist Church in Huntsville under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Pickett officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Dub Dierke Scholarship fund administered by the BPOE #2500 Elks Lodge in Rio Rancho, 1530 Barbara Loop, Rio Rancho, NM 87124 c/o Marie Dierke, or the Texas Lion's Camp for special needs children administered by the Huntsville Lions Club, P.O. Jaunita McAdams Bailey

Funeral services for Mrs. Jaunita McAdams Bailey will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 beginning at 11 a.m. at the First New Friendship Baptist Church, located at 911 Old Madisonville Rd. The Rev. Ronald Eagleton is the pastor.
The Rev. L.T. Hall will preside over the services.
Burial will immediately follow in the Northside Cemetery.
There will be a wake service, Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Bailey was born on Oct. 3, 1933, she was 74 years old.
She worked for many years at the Walker County Jail as a cook until her retirement in December 1995.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Sally Brown McAdams; three brothers, Luke White, Charles Edward Archer, and Ennis Archer and one grandson, Kevin McAdams.
Mrs. Bailey passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at her residence.
She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Margaret A. Taylor of Huntsville and Verna L. Burney of Houston; nine grandchildren, Deborah McAdams, Ronald McAdams, Valeria McAdams, Charlotte Cole, Rolanda Burney, Joseph Burney Jr., Kenneth Burney, Bruce Taylor and Edward Taylor; and 17 great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.

Anthony (Andy) Boyd Parrish

Anthony (Andy) Boyd Parrish, born March 20, 1967, passed away Nov. 26, 2007.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle; cherished son, Drake; parents, Archie and Dorothy Parrish; grandmother, Mildred Tholan; sisters, Diana Ebey, Lisa Jaime; brother, Howard Parrish; much spoiled niece,s Lacey Sims, Sebrina and Kally Harris, Mackenzee Perry, and Toni Connor; nephew, Travis Colburn and much loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Sat. Dec. 1, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Pasadena Brethren Church, 1810 Scarborough, Pasadena. Texas.

Velma Wynne Branch

Funeral services for Mrs. Velma Wynne Branch will be held on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, located at 322 Horace Rd., Huntsville. Burial will immediately follow in the Martha Chapel Cemetery.
There will be a wake service on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, from 6- 8 p.m. at the St. Paul United Methodist Church.
