Mrs. Voges
Maxine P. Voges, age 84, of Three Rivers died suddenly on Monday, Sept. 17, 2007.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. Services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in George West. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery. Our Savior
Lutheran Church of Three Rivers will serve a noon meal after the services.

Mrs. Bennett
Inez Calame Bennett, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and teacher, passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at the age of 98. She was born September 14, 1909, in Wortham, Texas, to parents Cornelia Jones Calame and Arthur Jesse Calame.
She graduated from Mexia High School and attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton for two years, where she pursued a career in education. She continued her studies at Southwest Texas State in San Marcos, where she received her bachelors degree. She also earned a masters degree from Texas A&I in Kingsville.
She started teaching school when she was still a teenager. Her first teaching job was in the Pleasant Grove Community of Limestone County, where she was hired by her future husband, Lamon L. Bennett. They were married June 28, 1931, and celebrated 59 years of marriage before his death in 1990. She and Lamon moved their three young children to George West in 1945, where he served as the County Agent and she became the Home Economics teacher at the high school. Her teaching career touched and influenced the lives of countless students. Her teaching career touched and influenced the lives of countless students. It has often been said that everything you needed to know in life could be learned in Mrs. Bennett’s Home Economics Class. She retired in 1972 with 40 years of teaching experience.
She loved her family, home, community, travel, sewing for the grandchildren, and most of all helping people. She will be remembered by her family and former students for her caring, happy spirit.
She is survived by three children, Lamon L. Bennett and wife Elaine Bennett, Hazel Margaret Hill and husband Bill Hill, David C. Bennett and wife Alexis Bennett; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the First Baptist Church in George West, Texas, with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Interment was in the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lynn Bennett, Greg Hill, Wayne Bennett, Jason Bennett, Noah Bennett, Dwight Michalk, David Desenberg, Randy Brace, and Gary Seifried. Honorary pallbearer was Tige Brown.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the Live Oak Nursing Center for their loving care.

Mrs. Lemley
Lorene Bertha Emilie Sahm Lemley, 85, of George West died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007. She was a member of George West United Methodist Church.
She was born to Alvin and Ida (Hofman) Sahm in Karnes County on Aug. 7, 1922. She married Thomas Woodrow Lemley in Corpus Christi on Nov. 8, 1941.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a younger brother, Oran Sahm; and a grandson, John Thomas Boehme.
Survivors include five daughters, Barbara (Lyn) Roehme of San Antonio, Janice (Jim) Johnson of Houston, Jonita (Don) Williams of Victoria, Connie Cantrell of Houston and Donna (Joe) Lyng of Mesquite, NM; a sister, Frances Marsh of Pleasanton; a brother, Clarence Sahm of Geronimo; a half-sister, Henrietta Brundrette of Skidmore; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and special neighbors Tommy and Glynis Strause of George West.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church of George West with Rev. Doug Hinchcliff officiating. Interment followed at George West Cemetery.

Mr. Osuna
Alan Osuna, 46, died on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 following an auto/pedestrian accident. He was born to Francisco and Frances (Butkowski) Osuna on Nov. 13, 1961 in Long Island, N.Y. He had purchased his small ranch outside of Three Rivers in June of this year.
On Wednesday, Oct. 17, a private family viewing was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers. He was cremated and his remains were shipped back to New York.

Mrs. Ortiz
Clementina M. Ortiz, 93, of Three Rivers died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007. She was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was born to Felix and Felipa (Martinez) Ortiz in George West on June 13, 1914.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Felipa Ortiz; and four brothers, Pedro Ortiz Sr., Felix Ortiz Jr., Jesus Ortiz Sr. and Lorenzo Ortiz Sr.
Survivors include a sister, Barbara Smithwick of Floresville; two brother, Pablo (Etelina) Ortiz of Corpus Christi and Apolinar (Maria) Ortiz of New Braunfels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 18, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. Rosary was recited Friday, Oct. 19, at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 2:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lorenzo Ortiz III, Daniel Ortiz, Andrew Ortiz, Pablo Ortiz III, Ricardo Ortiz Jr., Robert Bickle and Joshua Jacob Ortiz.
Honorary pallbearers were all her great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Teel
Mattie S. (Endsley) Teel, 89, of George West died in a Refugio nursing home on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007. Funeral services will be held at Laws Chapel Methodist Church and Burial at Laws Chapel Cemetery, Atlanta, Texas.
She was born to the late Arthur L. and Pearl Endsley in Cass County, Texas on July 2, 1918. She was married to Wilmer Teel in Bright Starr, Arkansas on March 10, 1937. They had resided in Corpus Christi for 30 years prior to moving to George West, where she resided for the last 18 years. She was a retired store clerk and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Teel and one grandson, David Teel.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda (John) Walton of George West and Norma Bray of Lampasas; a son, Dannie (Barbara) Teel of College Station; grandchildren, John Walton, Rhonda Walton, Tammy Kerr, Ashley, Torrie and Reed Teel, Mike, Phil Bray, Susan Downen and Greg Teel; great-grandchildren, Maegan and Haley Mowry, Lainie Bartlett, Tyler, Matt Kerr, Kassie Hoffman, Wendy Downen, Steven, Christopher Bray, Justin, Olivia Bray and Robert Teel. She was blessed with one great-great-grandchild, Rayne Hoffman.
Visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers. Graveside services were held at Laws Chapel Methodist Church and Cemetery in Atlanta, Texas on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m.

Mrs. Hobbs
Estella Helen Hobbs, born June 18, 1916, in Yorktown, Texas, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 91.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benhardt (Ben) and Lydia Louise (Haldberdier) Pieper of George West, Texas. She was the last living child in her family of eight children, including her brothers, Sam, Ed, Arthur, John Hugo, Alfred and Jerome Pieper, and by her sister, Elsa Lehmberg. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Leonard K. Hobbs; and great-granddaughter, Lydia Ruby Pearce.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Troy Bearden of New Braunfels, Texas, Betty Jo and David Phillips of Willis, Texas, and Ruby and Homer McDonald of San Antonio. Texas. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Regina DeLine, Troy D. Bearden, Cherie Aills, and Suzanne Pearce and husband Rex; two sisters-in-law, Sally Pieper and Mary Pieper; and her nine great-grandchildren, Mike DeLine and wife, Diana, Jason DeLine, Kirby DeLine, Eden Pearce, Ethan Pearce, Abigail (Abby) Pearce, Robby Aills, Haley Aills and Victoria Bearden and many nieces and nephews.
Known by many as Granny Hobbs, she lived her early life on the farm in Live Oak County and near the old Rabke Community. Later she married and eventually moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she lived for many years until all of her children were grown and married. In recent years she was a resident of Cleveland, Texas until she realized a dream of moving into her first new home, which was built for her by family and friends so she would have their care and nsupport as her health waned.
She will always be remembered for her independence, self sufficiency and hard work ethic and her wonderful baked goods. She was always an example of strength and loved and revered by the many people who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be celebrated by family and friends at a graveside service on Oct. 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens on Hwy 2025 (Cold Springs Rd.) Cleveland, Texas (about 5 miles out Cold Springs Rd.).

Mr. Kempf
Christopher Douglas Kempf, age 30, of Beeville passed away on Sun. Oct. 14, 2007. He was employed with TDCJ McConnell and a member of the St. James Catholic Church.
He was born to Dolores Meakins in Peru, Indiana on Nov. 1, 1976.
He is survived by his mother, Dolores Meakins of Beeville; father, Rovert A. Meakins of Beeville; a son, Christian Kempf of Beeville; a daughter, Reaanna Kempf of Beeville; two sisters, Tammie L. Salazar of Annaville and Jessica L. Meakins of Corpus Christi; a brother, Joshua D. Meakins of Beeville; grandparents, Bob and Lila Devres of San Antonio; step-grandparent Billie Meakins of Seattle, Washington; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tues. Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Beeville. Rosary was recited on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Beeville. Funeral service was held Wed. Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory #2 in Beeville.
Pallbearers were Shane McGovran, Rick Tamez, Brian James, OJ Moreno, Rocky DeLuna, Ernesto DeLuna Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are Jason Hinds and Bill Yates.
