Bellows
Royce “Rusty” Bellows, 74, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at his residence in Corpus Christi. He was born in Three Rivers on Feb. 8, 1929, to Richard D. and Alice (Crutcher) Bellows.
Mr. Bellows was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated a trucking company, was a member of the Believers Fellowship Church and a devout Christian.
Mr. Bellows was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clyde Bellows.
Survivors include his wife, Vernell Bellows of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Renee (William) Pitre of Corpus Christi; a stepson, Gary D. Laird of South Dakota; five brothers, Richard (Norma) Bellows, Dewey (Delores) Bellows, J.G. (Darlene) Bellows and Dudley (Mildred) Bellows, all of Three Rivers, and Reuben (Lana) Bellows of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mary Chloe Crisp of Sandia and Ruth (Calvin) Blaschke of Three Rivers; a sister-in-law, Velma Bellows of San Antonio; and three grandchildren, Bryan (Sarah) Pitre of San Antonio, and B.J. Pitre and Rusty Pitre, both of Corpus Christi.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 3, at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve Bain officiating. Burial followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Sawyer-George Funeral Home, Corpus Christi.

Garza
Alfredo Garza, 78, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at his residence in George West. He was born April 15, 1925, in Benavides to Librado and Rosenda (Saenz) Garza. He married Ramona Reyna on Aug. 31, 1946, in George West.
Mr. Garza served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the owner of Garza Grocery, a rancher and a member of St. George Catholic Church in George West.
Mr. Garza was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Alfredo “Freddy” Garza Jr., on Feb. 3, 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona R. Garza of George West; two sons, Emilio (Terri) Garza and Cruz (Barbara) Garza, all of George West; one daughter, Hilda (John) Reyes of Austin; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lee Garza of Corpus Christi, Cristel Garza of Grand Prairie and Jesus Garza of George West; and three sisters, Carmen Garcia of Alice, Maria Alaniz of Corpus Christi and Mary Lou Zapata of George West.
Visitation was held Thursday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. George Catholic Church. The funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at the same location with Father Piotr Gajda officiating. Barbara Bednorz was the organist. Burial followed at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Garza, Michael Reyes, Carlos Garza, Gerald Garza, Bryan Garza, Phillip Garza and Andy Garza.

Lancaster
Bettye Blanche Lancaster, 71, died Thursday, May 1, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Kevin Lancaster of George West and Michael Anthony Lancaster of Cheyenne, Wyo.; her mother, Alethia Marie Tollett of Uvalde; two sisters, Rosie Nell Mortensen and Virginia Lorene Robson, both of Uvalde; a brother, Clarence Jackson Tollett of Carrizo Springs; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 5 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs.
Arrangements were under the direction of Howard-Williams-Turcotte Funeral Home, Falfurrias.

Miller
Billie Jean (Hamm) Miller, 75, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, in San Antonio. She was born April 29, 1928, in Walters, Okla., to George Lee and Mary Jessie (Driskell) Hamm. She married Wesley D. Miller in San Antonio on May 23, 1945.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a longtime resident of Live Oak County before moving to Von Ormy to live with her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, four sisters and a grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene (Ray) Schramm of San Antonio and Judy (Earnest) Mosley of Von Ormy; three sons, Ron Miller of Hawaii, Robert (Debbie) Miller of Sinton and Richard (Lidilla) Miller of San Antonio; a brother, Charlie (Ruth) Hamm of Rockport; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 3 p.m. in the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West, with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Fran Bagley will sing “In The Garden” and “Precious Memories.” Burial will follow at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Rusty Schramm, Doug Schramm, Wesley Mosley and Randy Miller, and two sons-in-law, Ray Schramm and Earnest Mosley.

William Earl Bryan
William Earl Bryan, 90, of George West, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003.
Mr. Bryan was born May 29, 1913, in Live Oak County. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a retired oilfield pumper and gauger.
He is survived by one daughter, Frances Earlene Martinez of Beeville; one son, Keith Bryan of Hastings, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the George West Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Dobie Funeral Home, Mathis.

Schley
Betty K. (Scottie) Schley, 74, of George West, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003.
Mrs. Schley was born on July 17, 1929, in Clovis, N.M., to George and Verda Alice (Evans) Kimbriel. On Feb. 25, 1949, she married Brooks Schley in San Antonio. She was a housewife and a member of the Episcopal faith.
Mrs. Schley is survived by her husband, Brooks Schley of George West; two sons, Brooks M. Schley Jr. of South Africa and Robert M. Schley of Oakland, Calif.; one grandson, Mathieu Schley of Orange Grove; one sister, Emagene Crawford of Portland; and one brother, John Kimbriel of Austin.
Visitation was held Monday at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in George West, with the Rev. Ben Wright officiating. Burial followed in the George West Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.D. Clifton, Dwayne McWilliams, Jerry Robins, Lehman Bennett Jr., Travis Martin and Monte Lyne.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Live Oak County Library.

Vann
Tom Vann, 67, of Big Spring, died on Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene following a long illness.
Mr. Vann was born on Sept. 21, 1935, in Lockhart. He moved to Big Spring from Stanton in 1986. He was a retired truck driver and member of the Lutheran faith. He was a former resident of George West and was a dispatcher for D&D Trucking.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Vann of Big Spring; six daughters, Ronnie Epley, Leslie Stevens and Angela Patterson, all of Big Spring, Nancy Denman of Abilene, Meg Atchison of Monahans and Julie Vann of Beeville; one sister, Janice Thorp of Beeville; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A graveside service was held on Monday at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, with the Rev. Randy Cotton officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of Myers & Smith Funeral Home, Big Spring.

Roberto Flores
Roberto Flores, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville. Rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Sunday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Julian Zamudio, Ruben Baltazar, David Lopez, Antonio Montez, George Cano, Pete Salas, Adan Martinez and Gilbert Arguijo.
Mr. Flores was born on May 12, 1938, to Epifanio and Julia (Gonzales) Flores in Tuleta. He married Emiliana Rodriguez in Beeville in 1959. He was a retired route person for a distributing company and a member of Our Lady of Victory.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Santos Flores, a sister, Elida Flores Cuellar, and a step-daughter, Rachel Montez.
Survivors include his wife, Emiliana Rodriguez Flores of Beeville; three sons, Roberto Flores Jr. and wife Ida of George West, Ruben Flores of Beeville, and Ramon Flores and wife Debbie of Clareville; two daughters, Rebecca Martinez and husband Ramon of Mineral and Rita Flores of Beeville; four step-daughters, Micaela Martinez and husband Roman, Theresa Garcia, Mary Jane Villarreal and Dolores Puga and husband Dionicio of Beeville; one step-son, Gil Montez and wife Neida of Houston; his mother, Julia Flores of Beeville; a brother, Rey Flores of Beeville; two sisters, Herlinda Treviño and husband Aurelio and Elizabeth Franco and husband Eddie, both of Beeville; 12 grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
