Funeral services for Dale Russell, 35, of Lone Oak were held December 23 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. J.B. Harlin and Rick Sydnor officiating.

Burial was in Hooker Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy Fowler, Shane Russell, Scotty Russell, Freddy Russell, David Hollins and Terry Hatfield.

Mr. Russell was born Jan. 30, 1968, to Fred Russell and Joann Sullivan. He died Dec. 19 in Greenville. He married Julie Mayne Russell. He worked in cable communications and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Lone oak; father, of Lubbock; mother, of Lubbock; children, Felicia Russell, Christopher Russell and Clayton Russell of Lone Oak; brothers, Darrell Shane Russell of Vinton, Iowa, Scotty Russell of Mississippi and Freddy Russell of Lubbock; and sister, Shanna Russell of Lubbock.

William David “Bill” Bevers
Graveside services for William David “Bill” Bevers, 68, of Emory were held at Smyrna Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17. Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He died Saturday, August 14, 2004, at his residence in Emory.

Mr. Bevers was born in Fort Worth to W.W. and Evelyn Bevers. He married Barbara Ray in Stephenville on February 8, 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bevers was a retired Union Iron Worker.

Survivors include his wife of Emory; his father of Garland; a son, Bill Bevers Jr. of Ft. Worth; a daughter, Debra Armon of Miami Beach, Fla.; a sister, Pamela Robelow of Garland; grandchildren, Madison Armon and Bentley Benard.

Willie B. Felton

Willie B. Felton of Emory died Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at Green Acres Nursing Home. Cremation arrangements were with Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home, Emory.

He was born in Emory to J.M. and Annie B. Dockery Felton.

He was a First Sergeant of the U.S. Army and fought in the European and Pacific theaters. He was a sales representative and retired from an insurance company.

He is survived by brothers, Jim Felton of Emory, Buddy K. Felton of Houston, and Charles Felton of Tyler; sisters, Jeanette Fletcher of Eagle Pass, and Annie L. Bates of Garland.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Charlotte Groff
1923 - 2004
A memorial service for Charlotte Virginia Wiltse Groff, 80, of Point was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Covenant Chapel in the American Heritage Academy Building in Carrollton.

Mrs. Groff died August 11 at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

She was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Hannibal, N.Y., daughter of Marian and George Wiltse.

Mrs. Groff was a proof reader for Taylor Publishing Company. She was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church in New Haven, N.Y.

Mrs. Groff is survived by two sons, Elwood “Chip” Groff and wife Donna of Farmers Branch and Martin Groff and wife Brenda of Grand Prairie; one daughter, Georgia “Gigi” Griffin and husband Covey Ben of Point; family member Maria Groff; one brother, Harold Wiltse of New Haven, N.Y.; one sister, Bernice Douglas and husband Ed of Portland, Maine; 11 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Tyler Groff; and her parents.

Garry Don Johnson
1957 - 2004
Funeral services for Garry Don Johnson, 47, of Lafayette, Ind., formerly of Sulphur Springs, were held Sunday, August 15, at West Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Johnson and Kenny Johnson officiating.

Burial followed in Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Stanley Giles, John Gonzales, Shane Hairston, Jason Johnson, Richard Johnson, Jeremy Meier, Tommy Walker and Ricky Whitaker serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Johnson died at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, in Danville, Ill., as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born on April 28, 1957, in Commerce to Loyd and Ora Fay Wolfe Johnson.

Mr. Johnson attended school in Sulphur Springs and later moved from Texas to open meat markets in a number of states over a period of 30 years.

Survivors include one son, Luke Johnson of New Summersville; two daughters, Tawni Spencer of Tyler and Cindy Johnson of Ohio; four grandchildren, Chasidy Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Keely Johnson and Madison Spencer; his mother, Ora Fay Johnson of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Linda Meier of Sulphur Springs and Barbara Walker of Emory; and five brothers, Wayne Johnson of Tyler, Randy Johnson of Sulphur Springs, Keith Johnson of Greenville, Kenny Johnson of Fort Worth, and Mark Johnson of Honey Grove.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Johnson in February of 1985.

L.T. “Punk” Oliver
1928 - 2004
Services for Leo Thomas “Punk” Oliver, 76 of Alba, were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home chapel, Alba, with Bro. Billy “Rusty” Smith officiating.

Burial was in Salem Cemetery, Alba. Pallbearers were Tony Curtis, Douglas Latham, John Weaver, Bruce Fountain, Bobby Kile and Bruce Keys.

Mr. Oliver died August 10 at a Tyler hospice.

He was born July 7, 1928, in Emory to the late Thomas Franklin and Lula Lola Miles Oliver. He was a lifelong resident of Rains and Wood counties, and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He had lived in Alba since 1970 and was a state highway surveyor for the Texas Highway Department and a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jimmie Murdock Oliver of Alba; stepson, Michael Oliver, Sulphur Springs; daughters, Frances Hill of Quitman, Sharon Latham of Emory, Brenda Keys of Sulphur Springs, and Joe Oliver; sister, Lillie Lutonsky of Quitman; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Tirzah Chandler
1961 - 2004
Tirzah Chandler, 43, of Emory passed away Saturday, August 14, in an auto accident.

A memorial service was held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 18, at West Tawakoni Baptist Church.

She was born on August 9, 1961, in Dallas to Ann and Robert Burns. She worked in the bakery department of Brookshire’s grocery store in Quinlan. Tirzah was a former 32-year resident of Quinlan.

She is survived by her son, James Russell of Quinlan; one daughter, Jamie Renea Chandler of Quinlan; mother, Ann Guinn of Quinlan; one brother, Don Allen Burns of Quinlan; fiancé, Frank Smith; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Tirzah was preceded in death by her father, Robert Allen Burns; and Nanny and Papa.

Lynch Funeral Service of Greenville was in charge of arrangements.

Jim Dodson
1928 - 2004
Funeral services for Jim Dodson, 76, of Grand Saline will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, at Bartley Funeral Home Chapel, Grand Saline, with Bro. Jim Atkins officiating.

Burial will be in DFW National Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Dodson died August 22 in Grand Saline.

He was born February 21, 1928, in Fort Supply, Okla., to Clarence I. and Kathryn Boyle Dodson. He had lived in Grand Saline for the last three years. Mr. Dodson was a retired sergeant from the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a Protestant.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Dodson of Grand Saline; mother of Chouteau, Okla.; two sons, Guy Dodson of Owyhee, Nev., and Dennis Malone of Eden; four daughters, Bessie Sanchez and Elisa Jones, both of Owyhee, Nev., Samantha Benton of Grand Saline, and Lisa Watkins of Elkmont, Ala.; one brother, Jack Dodson of Chouteau, Okla.; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, W. E. (Buck) and Geraldine Gilmore of Duncanville; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Vernon England of Dallas; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Duane Due of Pryor, Okla.; Karolyn and Jim Watson of Clairmore, Okla.; Gail Hively of Chouteau, Okla., and Kathryn and Seath Landrum of Tulsa, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Lynne Brown; two granddaughters; one son, and sister-in-law, Maxine Dodson.

Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles Edward Foster Jr.
1922 - 2004
Funeral services for Charles Edward Foster Jr., 81, of Emory were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel with Delton Alexander and G.D. Phillips officiating.

Burial followed in Colony Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Foster, Mark Foster, Hunter Boyer, Harry Tyndell, James Liles, and Stanley McAree.

Mr. Foster died Sunday, August 22, at a Sulphur Springs hospital.

He was born on October 28, 1922, in Alba. He spent his early years in Alba and had lived in Emory since 1968. He was a member of the church of Christ. He retired from E-Systems in Greenville after 24 years of service as a security guard. He served two years on the Alba school board as president and served in the Navy during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Earleen Foster of Emory; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Markie Foster of Tyler, and Dick and Anette Foster and Dan and Lisa Foster, all of Emory; one daughter, Charlene Foster of Emory; two brothers, Roy Foster of Channing and Paul and Carol Foster of Alba; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

Irma Odessa Frandsen
1915 - 2004
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Irma Odessa Frandsen, 88, of Emory will be held at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004, with Rev. Wade Eadie officiating.

Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Pallbearers are Boyce Hancock, Drew Lincoln, Dirk Nicholson, Dutch Hancock, Dirk Scott, Tyler Hancock, Michael Nicholson and Ryan Hancock.

Mrs. Frandsen died at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

She was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Lamar, Arkansas, to James Wylie Smith and Edith Smith. She married Carl Frandsen in San Mateo, California, on February 19, 1969. She was a retired executive housekeeper for Hilton Hotels. She was a member of the church of Christ and Shalom Temple 90 Daughters of the Nile.

Survivors include her husband of Emory; sons, George Raymond Hancock of Point and David L. Hancock of Emory; daughters, Bonnie Hoffman of Indiana and Tina Frandsen of Fresno, California; brother, Joe Smith of Muskogee, Okla; sister, Irene Watkins of Oldocean; eight grandchildren, Boyce Hancock, Dutch Hancock, Duke Hancock, Dirk Scott, Glorena Nicholson, Danni Doty, Drew Lincoln and Douglas Lincoln; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one daughter.

Lloyd L. Johnson
1928 - 2004
Funeral services for Lloyd L. Johnson, 76, of Lone Oak were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, at County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Darty officiating.

Burial followed at Chicota Cemetery in Chicota with Robert Jaska, Russell Silva, Stan Green, Norman Johnson, Randy Sprague and Lloyd Johnson serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Johnson died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, August 19, at the V.A. Hospital in Bonham.

He was born in Ethel, Mo., on March 1, 1928, the son of John and Nellie Bodenhammer Johnson. He married Linda Colbert on January 2, 1990, in Lone Oak. She survives.

Mr. Johnson was a machinist for Reynolds Aluminum. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church in Miller Grove.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Lloyd Johnson of Florida; one stepson, Cliff Roach of Kentucky; one daughter, Linda Kay Bolek of Missouri; one step-daughter, Judy Stout of Idaho; one brother, Norman Johnson of Lone Oak; one sister, Reba Ratliff of Illinois; grandchildren, Barbie Moore, Matthew, Mason, Jeffrey and Cydney Johnson; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Karen Brown; one brother, Willis Johnson; and one sister, Pauline Johnson.

John McKinstry
1945 - 2004
Memorial services for John Charles McKinstry, 59, of Alba were held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 20, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.

Mr. McKinstry died August 16 at a Tyler hospital.

He was born June 14, 1945, in Fort Worth to the late John Clement and Hassie Belle Mitchusson McKinstry. He lived most of his life in Denison prior to moving to Alba one year ago. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a switchman/conductor for Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Denison, a 32nd degree Mason in Billy Moose Lodge of Denison, and a lifelong member of DeMolay.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Davidson McKinstry of Alba; sons, Sean McKinstry and Scott McKinstry, both of Fort Worth, Chad McKinstry of Watauga, and Paul Tyson Jr. of Rowlett; daughter, Brandi Burger of San Francisco, Calif.; brother, Jack McKinstry of Denison; and seven grandchildren.
