Larry Glenn Hare
1943 - 2007
Memorial services for Larry Glenn Hare of Point were held on Tuesday, November 13, at Grace Baptist Church, Midlothian, with Bro. Dale Harris Sr. officiating.

Mr. Hare went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, No-vember 10, at Charlton Metho-dist Hospital in Dallas. Interment will be at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.

He was born in Dallas on October 16, 1943, and grew up in Emory. He was a resident of Point, was a retired truck driver, and was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran.

He was preceded in death by his father, V. W. Hare, and his younger brother, Jerry Don Hare.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Hart; mother, Maudie Jaffe; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Janice Hare; sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Ronnie Hughes; one niece and two nephews.

Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Missions, Midlothian.

Midlothian Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Russell
1946 - 2007
Funeral services for Jerry Russell, age 61, of Sulphur Springs were held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel on No-vember 7. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, followed at Greenview Cemetery.

Jerry Russell passed away Monday morning, November 5, at Doctors Hospital in Dallas.

He was born in Greenville on August 6, 1946, the son of Alma Payne and Gladys Tillery Russell.

He married Phyllis Ann McCool in Hopkins County on January 24, 1969; she survives.

Mr. Russell was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Lake Highlands Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam war.

Other survivors include a daughter, Pam Russell of Dallas; two sons, Michael Russell of Carrollton and Tim Russell of Sulphur Springs; four sisters, Ruth Myers of Sulphur Springs, Louise Moser of Quinlan, Helen Gaston and Kathy Weatherford, both of Emory; three brothers, Billy Russell of Quinlan, Phil Russell of Emory and Sammy Potts of Caddo Mills; and grandchild, Anna Rose Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dorris Potts and William Potts. Memorials may be made to Lake Highlands Baptist Church.

Arrangements were under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Aarron Daniel “Edgewood” Ashmore
1987 - 2007
Funeral services for Aarron Daniel “Edgewood” Ashmore, 20, of East Tawakoni, were held Saturday, Jan. 5, at Rains High School in Emory with Rev. Jay Sikes and Rev. Mike Stone officiating.

Burial with military honors was at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Canton.

Mr. Ashmore died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, near his home.

He was born Feb. 13, 1987, in Dallas. He lived in Irving for a short time before moving to Edgewood. Later he moved to East Tawakoni.

He graduated from Rains High School in Emory in 2006. Upon graduating he received a scholarship from the United States Army and went on to complete basic training and advanced training to become a combat medic.

Mr. Ashmore served with the Army National Guard in Wylie. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing and watching movies.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Tamera and Kelley McLaughlin of East Tawakoni; brothers, Billy Au-trey, David MacLaughlin and Jacob McLaughlin, all of East Tawakoni, and Cole Autrey of Edgewood; grandfather, Morris Anthony of Grand Prairie; grandmother and step-grandfather, Mary and Jolumie Wooten of Irving; and aunt, Monica Anthony of Edgewood.

Arrangements were under the direction of Goggans Funeral Home of Quinlan.

Ruby McQueen
1914 - 2008
Funeral services for Ruby Lucille McQueen, 93, of Grand Saline were held Monday, January 14, at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Mineola.

Burial was in Holland Cemetery, under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Pallbearers were Daniel L. Colegrove, Billy Charles, Mike McQueen, Mark McQueen, Clint McQueen, Shannon Jennings, and Shane Jennings.

Mrs. McQueen died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, in Grand Saline.

She was born February 27, 1914, in Oklahoma. She had lived in Grand Saline for the past three and one-half years, having moved from McGregor. She was a homemaker, mother, and a Baptist.

She is survived by five sons, Thomas McQueen of Mineola, Russell McQueen of Arkansas, Willie Earl McQueen of Emory, Bobby McQueen of Alba, and Connie McQueen of Brashear; five daughters, Maggie West of Oak Cliff, Sadie Smith of Quinlan, Dorthy Isernia of Murphy, Kathy Turner of Royse City, and Ruby Kay Roberts of Wills Point; 47 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo Worthington and Lilly Mae Sells Worthington; husband, William Joseph McQueen; five sons, Roy Lee McQueen, Shirley Author Mc-Queen, Homer McQueen, Billy Joe McQueen, and Truman McQueen; four daughters, Sara Jane McQueen, Wanda Lou McQueen, Teressa Ann McQueen, and Dianna Lynn Mc-Queen Stogner; sister Maggie Margaret Worthington; three granddaughters, Ruby Carol Mc-Queen Brewer, Donna Louise McQueen Elmore, and JoAnn McQueen Pierce; grandson, Jeffery Wayne Cockerham; and great-granddaughter, Misty Eileen White.

Freddie Lou Prince
1933 - 2008
Funeral services for Freddie Lou Prince, 74, of Emory were held Thursday, January 10, at the Point Funeral Home. Interment was at Lone Star Cemetery in Point.

Freddie Prince passed away January 7, 2008, in Emory.

She was born on September 21, 1933, in Point to Thomas and Dovie Audrey Mayo Prince.

She was the owner and operator of Chris’ Cafe in Emory for many years. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Emory.

She is survived by two sons, Randy Potts and wife Audrey of Henderson and Barry Potts of Point; grandson, Jessie Potts and wife Lesley of Van; granddaughter, Joey Tucker and husband Shelby of Van; great-grandson, Jacob Ryan Potts; brother, Tommy Gene Prince of Eureka, Calif.; and other family members and friends.

Linda Lorene Snell
1956 - 2008
Funeral services for Linda Lorene Snell, 51, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Cone and Rev. Joe Perkins will officiate.

A private burial will follow. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.

Linda died Friday morning, Jan. 11, 2008, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

She was born Oct. 13, 1956, in Dallas to Rufus Junior and Anita Lorene Vinson Nutt.

Linda married Ronald Wayne Snell on September 1, 1973, in Kaufman.

She was formerly active in Community Theater with the Blackland Players of Greenville and Lake Country Playhouse of Mineola. She was multi-talented in many forms of arts and crafts and played the piano. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Mrs. Snell is survived by her husband of Emory; two daughters, Brandi Shapiro and husband Jesse of Colorado and Tamra Snell of Austin; parents, Junior and Anita Nutt of Emory; sister, Debbie and husband Dave Ricketts of Emory; three nieces; four nephews; and numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas in Linda’s name. www.childrens.com.

Coy P. Lindsey
1930 - 2008
Funeral services for Coy P. Lindsey, 77, of Lone Oak were held Sunday, March 16, at First Baptist Church of Point with Rev. Jay Sikes officiating. Burial was in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Mineola. Pallbearers were Jef-frey Vorhees, Lindsey Horton, Bobby Jobe, Bert Fite, Bo Fite and Eanon Horton.

Honorary pallbearers were Frank Henson, Neil Alex Harris, Tommy Tune, Ernie Warren, Luther Minyard and Joel J. Laws.

Mr. Lindsey died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at his residence.

Coy was born in Grand Saline on July 4, 1930, to Coy Estelle and Nani Lou Fite Lindsey.

He married Joyce Morris Hood on March 15, 1979, in Dallas.

During his working career he was a machinist at Bell Helicopter. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Point, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lindsey of Lone Oak; son, John Lindsey of Austin; daughter, Mona Vee Vorhees of Hideaway; step-sons, Darrell Hood of Garland and Barry Hood of Dallas; brother, Dale Lindsey of Tyler; grandchildren, Jeffrey Vorhees, Cimmeron Hood, Khristopher Hood, Deziraé Hood and Amber Hood; numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dean Lind-sey; sister, Wanda Horton, and daughter, Phyllis Ann Lindsey.

Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Doris Rae Phillips
1929-2008
Funeral services for Doris Rae Phillips, 78, of Edgewood are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Edgewood Church of Christ with Mr. Ken Maddox and Mr. Ed Stover officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

She passed away early Sunday morning, May 11, 2008, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

Doris Rae was born October 29, 1929, in the Morince Community near Edgewood, the daughter of O. T. “Pas” Pickens and Lydia Caroline Wade Pickens. She was a lifelong resident of Edgewood, graduating from Edgewood High School in 1946.

She married Vernon Richard Phillips September 16, 1950, in Canton. During her life, she was employed by Continental Trailways Bus Company and the Federal Reserve Bank, both in Dallas. Later, she was employed by the City of Edgewood as a water department clerk, retiring in 1997, after 15 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, yard work and being with family and friends. Doris Rae was a faithful member of the Edgewood Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon R. Phillips of Edgewood; three sons, Richard Phillips and wife Karen, Jay Phillips and Tim Phillips, all of Edgewood; two brothers, Doug Pickens of West Tawakoni and Don Pickens and wife Vauda Rae of Wills Point; sister Betty Phillips and husband Alvin of Grand Saline; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O. T. and Lydia Pickens, and brother, Billy Paul Pickens, and two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Pickens and Gisela Pickens.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas or the American Cancer Society.

Era Samples Pinson
1922 - 2008
A memorial service for Era Samples Pinson will be held Wednesday, May 14, at 1:00 p.m. at Moore Dignity Funeral Home in Arlington with Pastor Chris Horton officiating.

Pallbearers are Bobby Ander-ton of Lone Oak, Terry Burden of Quinlan, Jeff Bell of Lewisville, Les Castleberry, Ted Ragland, and Randy Gilbert, all of Grand Prairie.

Mrs. Pinson died May 11, 2008. She was born in Hunt County on August 30, 1922.

She was a devoted member of Lake Fork Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She retired from the Irving ISD in 1987. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and aunt.

Mrs. Pinson is survived by sons, Kenneth and wife Wanda, Emory; Horace and wife Nancy; Jack Pinson; John Gennusa, Dallas; sisters, Hazel Combs, Grand Prairie; Glondie Burden, Quinlan; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Kelly Pinson, Arlington; Karen Taylor and husband Joe; Teresa Bell and husband Jeff, Lewisville; Patrick Pinson, Grand Prairie; Terry Ray Pinson and wife Amanda; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband A.D. Pinson; sister, Veta Russell; brothers, Herbert Samples and Hulen Samples.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her memory to Chrysalis House, c/o Tammy Pearson, P.O. Box 237, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482 or the charity of your choice.
