Graveside services for Roger Wayne Bellomy, 64, Alba, were held Sunday, August 23, at Salem Cemetery, Alba, with Bro. Gary Bohannan officiating.

Pallbearers were Kevin Fitzgerald, Justin Hass, Jimmy Hollis, Russell Melton, Johnny Hollis, Michael Henson, Johnny Henson, and Gary Henson.

Honorary pallbearers were Monty Brittain, Randy Carter, Frank “Butch” Taylor, and Leslie Sweeden.

Mr. Bellomy passed away Tuesday, August 18, in the Grand Saline hospital.

He was born November 4, 1944, in Winnsboro, to the late Claude Lamar and Vera Mae Reid Bellomy, and lived most of his life in Alba. He served his country in the Army. He did drywall work in the construction business.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Edward Salinas and Rhonda and Jimmy Melton, all of Alba; brother, Bobby Glen Bellomy of Winnsboro; 3 sisters, Glenda Noble of Mt. Pleasant; Sharon Kay and Dale Larey of Winnsboro, and Mary Ann and Carl George of Hot Springs, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Johnnie Sue Bellomy on December 2, 2008.

Joseph Chico Soto
1949 - 2009
Memorial servicers are pending for Joseph Chico Soto. Mr. Soto passed away on August 9, 2009.
Doris Ann Shields Nelson
1938 - 2009
Funeral services for Doris Ann Shields Nelson, 71, of Wills Point, were held August 19, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Ken Cooper officiating.

Interment followed at Union Grove Cemetery north of Wills Point. Pallbearers were Harold McClure, Aaron Clever, Mike Wills, Jerry Kimbro, and Chris Dumire.

Mrs. Nelson died August 15, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Point. She was born June 6, 1938, in San Antonio to Marion Franklin Shields and Gussie Belle Shields. She was raised in San Antonio. On February 5, 1955, she married Eddie James Nelson in Seguin.

She retired in 1998 from her employment with the Terrell State Hospital, She later was a houseparent at Lakes Regional Health Services in Terrell. She had lived in Farmers Branch prior to moving to Wills Point.

Mrs. Nelson enjoyed gardening and fishing. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, Eddie James Nelson Jr. of Wills Point; daughters, Debby McClure and husband Harold of Quinlan, Donna Kimbro and husband Jerry of Point, Karen Wills and husband Mike of Wills Point; brother, Melvin Shields and wife Betty of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Darlene Shields of Three Rivers; and four grandchildren, Jason McClure, Lisa Clever and husband Aaron, Crissy Dumire and husband Chris, Jessie Wills; six great-grandchildren, Randi Wells, Jason McClure Jr., Austin Fields, Taylor Fields, Cobe Dumire, Alex Dumire; and special cousin, Bea Alexander of San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 47 years Eddie James Nelson Sr.; four brothers, Edward Shields, Luther Ray Shields, Clarence Shields, Robert Shields; and niece Laurie Shields.

Allan Fuller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Wanda Brumit
1925 - 2009
Funeral Services for Wanda Alice Nelson Brumit were held Thursday, September 17, at Harvest Time Assembly of God Church in Sherman with Rev. Derwood Dubose officiating. Interment followed at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman with Jonathan Faggart and Irby McKnight officiating.

Mrs. Brumit was born in Dallas on July 2, 1925, the daughter of Carl L. Nelson Sr. and Wanda Mae Hamilton Nelson. She died Sunday, September 13, 2009, at her home in Denison after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Brumit was a loyal, loving wife to her husband of 66 years, Rev. Houston Brumit, supporting him in his ministry, most recently at Harvest Time Assembly of God, the church they founded in 1990.

She was first and foremost a Mom, a loving Nana, and Great-Nana.

Survivors include her husband; children, Linda Elaine Brandon and husband Sidney, Sammy Dwayne Brumit and wife Nancy, Timothy Dwight Brumit and wife Esther, and Renita Suzanne Garner and husband Steve; grandchildren, Charlotte Holzmeister and husband Ed, Christie Brumit Gomez and husband Mark, Mark Brumit and wife Andrea, Justin Brumit, Aaron Brumit, Heather Brumit, Heidi Brumit Schapansky and husband Brian, Matthew Brumit and wife Amanda, and Randell Morgan; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Lindsey Holzmeister, Katelyn, Ashley, and Marcus Gomez, Amee Grace Brumit; brother, Carl L. Nelson Jr. and wife Norma.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Tiny Sue. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home in Denison.

Jimmy Lee Castleberry
1948 - 2009
Jimmy Lee Castleberry, 60, of Point died September 17. He was born September 18, 1948, in Dallas to James Harold and Hazel Marie Henshaw Castleberry.

He married Joyce Ann Bridges in Durant, Oklahoma, on February 23, 1976. He worked as an equipment operator for Cash Utilities for many years.

Mr. Castleberry is survived by his wife of Point; sons, Harlan Grubbs and spouse Jayna of Virginia, Jackie Lucas of Gilmer, and Jimmy Lee Castleberry II and spouse Lynn of Point; daughter, Yolanda Grubbs and spouse Gary of Van; mother, Hazel Castleberry of Lake Dallas; sisters, Judy White of Emory, Cindy Thompson of Nevada, and Donna Shull of Point; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2004; two brothers; and great-grandson, Lil Corey.

Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Thomas “Tom” Dountas
1952 - 2009
Private memorial services for Thomas “Tom” Frances Dountas, 56, of Alba and formerly of Wills Point, will be held at a later date at Enon Cemetery, Alba. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.

Mr. Dountas passed away in a Tyler hospital on Tuesday, September 15, 2009.

He was born November 12, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Peter James and Margaret Frances Mason Dountas. He had lived in Alba for six months. He was a carpenter in the construction business and a member of the Shepherd House Family Church of Rolling Oaks.

He is survived by Andrea Wunder of California; brother, William Dountas of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and sister, Pamela Dountas of Alba.

James “Buck” Rakestraw
1936 - 2009
Graveside services for James Franklin “Buck” Rakestraw Jr., 73, of Alba were held Saturday, September 19, at Salem Cemetery, Alba, with Bro. Tommy Weems officiating.

Pallbearers were Joel Tyner, Gregg Magee, Johnny Lightfoot, Steve Cantu, Randy Phillips and Danny Brumbelow.

Mr. Rakestraw passed away Wed., Sept. 16, 2009, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born June 1, 1936, in Brownsboro to the late James Franklin Sr. and Alpha Smith Rakestraw.

He resided in Chandler for 24 years before moving to Alba nine years ago and was a member of Lake Fork Baptist Church, Alba. He served in the Air Force, retired from Kelly-Springfield after 36 years service, and was a member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge #53 in Tyler. He spent many years involved in drag racing and dirt track racing, and married Patsy Davis on Nov. 11, 2000, in Alba.

Survivors include wife, Patsy Rakestraw of Alba; daughters, Lisa Tyner May, and Patti Lightfoot and husband Johnny, all of Chandler; stepdaughters and spouses, Carol Hutton of Garland, Dee Ann and Randy Phillips of Lone Oak, and Vicki and Steve Cantu of Celina; sisters, Ann Rakestraw of Tyler and Linda Vaughn of Marshall; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Rakestraw Sr. and Alpha Rakestraw Hamby; wife, Sonia Brumbelow Rakestraw; sister, Ruth Hughes; and an infant sister.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Carmen Lanette Cooke
1969 - 2009
Funeral services for Carmen Lanette Cooke, 40, of Lone Oak were held October 22 at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory. Burial followed in the Dougherty Cemetery.

Mrs. Cooke died Monday, October 19, 2009, at Hunt Regional Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born in Sulphur Springs on September 5, 1969, to Eddie Joe and Vaunita Fay Hennen Clifton. She was a member of the Emory Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother of Emory; daughter, Heagen Steed of Lone Oak; son, Jace Lowery of Lone Oak; sisters, Denita Young and husband Scott of Emory, Amber Evans of Conroe, and Jolie Anderson of Conroe; brother, P.R. Adams and wife Marla of Austin; nieces, Brook Young and Taylor Young; and numerous other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Shannon Cooke; her father, grandparents, Romie and Lorene Hennen and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clifton.

Lula R. Farrar
1921 - 2009
Services for Lula Rebecca Farrar, 87, of Alba, were held Saturday, October 24, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home chapel, Alba, with Bro. Fred Morrow officiating.

Burial was in Salem Cemetery, Alba.

Mrs. Farrar passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009 in a Mineola nursing home.

She was born December 14, 1921, in Bowie County, to Leonard Odis and Bertha May Smith Hodgson. She married Junior Lee Farrar on February 15, 1946, in Clarksville, and they had been married 62 years at his death on January 22, 2009. She lived most of her life in Dallas, lived 15 years at Cedar Creek Lake after retirement, and lived the last 6 years in Alba. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Kathy Farrar of Alba, Odie and Staci Farrar of Grays Prairie, Paul and Debbie Farrar of The Colony, and Jerry and Teresa Farrar of Alba; brothers, Newman Hodgson, B. C. Hodgson, John Hodgson, Joe Hodgson, Lynn Hodgson, and Jimmy Hodgson; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Odis Hodgson, Floy Hodgson, and Walter Hodgson; sisters, Dovie Matthews and Anne Spencer.

Marvin Ross Lemons
1941 - 2009
Funeral services for Marvin Ross Lemons, 68, of Emory, former resident of Lockney, were held October 24 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.
Interment followed at the Lockney Cemetery.

Mr. Lemons died October 21, 2009, in Emory. He was born July 7, 1941, in Lockney to Carl Francis Lemons and Grace Marie (Anderson) Lemons. He married Linda Gail Carthel on November 1, 1967, in Lockney. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2002.

He attended Lockney Public Schools and honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1962-1966. He was a long-time resident of the Floyd and Hale counties area. He was employed by the city of Plainview as a superintendent for Seth Ward Water.

Mr. Lemons moved to Emory in 2003. His favorite pastime was gardening and farming and he especially loved the company of all his family.

Survivors include sons, David Ross Lemons and wife Susie of Lindale and Cory Vance Lemons and wife Jenni of Lubbock; daughters, Jessica Jo Vasquez and husband Steven of Wichita Falls and Diana Dee Trischitti and husband John of Terrell; brother, Phil Lemons and wife Linda of Quitaque; sisters, Francis Whatley of Mesquite and Carla Gayley of San Antonio; and 11 grandchildren.

Mr. Lemons was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one brother, Edward Lemons.

Memorials may be made in Marvin Ross Lemons’ name to Green Acres Nursing Home, 983 N. Texas St., Emory, TX 75440.

Arrangements were under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.
