Leona Ann Payne
1934 - 2011
Graveside services for Leona Ann Payne, 77, were held on August 14 at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born in Depew, New York, on February 15, 1934. She spent most of her life as a compassionate caregiver. She was a loving wife, mother and a special mema.

Mrs. Payne is survived by her daughters, Susan Holmes and husband Mark of Lindale, Laurie Dewey and husband Tom of Mesquite; and grandchildren, Megan, Matthew and Jason.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Payne.

Arrangements were under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler.

Sandra D. Runyan
1958 - 2011
A memorial service for Sandra D. Runyan, 58, of Emory will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Thursday, August 18, at 6:00 p.m.

Sandra died on Monday, August 15, 2011, at her residence. She was born on May 31, 1958, in Dallas.

She spent her childhood in Oak Cliff where she was a member of a dance studio. On February 23, 1977, she married Calvin “Ray” Runyan and they made their home in the Garland area where she worked many years for Skaggs Alpha-Beta Grocery Co. as a deli manager. They were married for 34 years.

In 1997, they moved to the Lake Fork community where she worked for TxDOT. Sandy enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. She was also an avid Texas Longhorn fan.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Lisa Kneifl and husband Philip of Mart and Lois Spikes and husband Johnny of Emory; grandchildren, Kris, Jeremiah, Katelynn and Dilan Kneifl, Miranda and Camryn Spikes; and Aunt Carol Granato and husband Chuck of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Wanda Berry; sister, Kathryn Berry; mother-in-law, Lucy Runyan; both sets of grandparents; numerous aunts; and an uncle.

Items for the family can be brought to 402 PR 7703, Emory.

Services are under the direction of Ingram Funeral home in Quinlan.

Ty John “T.J.” Walpole
1960 – 2011
Funeral services for Ty John “T.J.” Walpole, 51, of Alba were held August 11 at Lake Fork Baptist Church with Bro. Perry Crisp and Bro. David Smith officiating.

Burial followed in Lake Fork Memorial Cemetery near Emory. Pallbearers were Andy Crain, Scott Pletz, Doyle Barlow, Doug White, Rusty Anderson and Jason Stovall.

Mr. Walpole died Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at his residence. He was born January 3, 1960, in Mexia, to Boyd and Bobbie Ogden Walpole. He married Terry Underwood on June 16, 1979, in Irving.

He was a Master Plumber and owned his own business for 28 years. He had lived in Alba for six years.

Formerly of Grapevine, Mr. Walpole was a member of Lake Fork Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School classes, was president of the First Baptist Church Bass Club and was a member of the Baptist Men.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Terry Walpole of Alba; daughter, Mandi Stovall and husband Jason of Alba; mother, Bobbie Bowden of Kosse; father, Boyd Walpole of Mexia; and grandson, Cade Stovall.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Becky Walpole and Lisa Lynn Walpole.

Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home of Alba.

Jerrold Gene Cash
1929 - 2011
A memorial service for Jerrold Gene Cash, 82, of Emory was held September 3 at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory.

Mr. Cash died in the early morning hours of August 30, 2011, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born May 20, 1929, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to John Preston and Edith Lorene Cline Cash. He married Mary Gene Bullock August 2, 1950, in West Salem, Illinois.

Prior to retirement he was a petroleum engineer in refining. He worked with Phillips Petroleum for 30 years. Mr. Cash was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Cash of Emory; daughter, Becky Christine Hevia and husband Damian of Houston; sons, Gary Steven Cash and wife Rose of Riverside, California, Mark Christopher Cash and wife Norrey of Houston; brothers, Michael Cash of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, John Layton Cash of Owasso, Oklahoma; stepmother, Leona Royce Cash of Owasso, Oklahoma; numerous other family; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Ronald Adelbert King
1938 - 2011
Funeral services for Ronald Adelbert King, 73, of Point were held September 3 at the Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster. Graveside services were held the same day in Lone Star Cemetery, Point,

Mr. King died on August 31, 2011. He was born June 12, 1938, to parents Russell and Julia King in Corry, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Corry High School in 1957. After moving to Texas in 1972, he retired from the U.S. Post Office in Dallas.

Mr. King is survived by his wife, Charlotte Berry King; sons Douglas A. King and wife Lisa of Point, Mike D. King and wife Annie of Caddo Mills, Jason Pool of Lancaster and Dennis Gomez of Point; daughters, Jennifer King-Donaho and husband Rodney of Seagoville and Sheena J. Gomez of Lancaster; brothers, Richard King and wife Vera of N. E. Penn., Marvin King and wife Hazel of Springhill, Fla. and Larry King and wife Sandy of Union City, Penn.; sister, Wanda King-Jenkins and husband Tim of Clymer, NY; six grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; numerous nieces; nephews; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son Dwayne E. King.

Eva Coats McMerrell
1938 - 2011
Funeral services for Eva Coats McMerrell, 72, of Trinity were held on September 3 at the Hanner Funeral Chapel in Atlanta with Bro. George Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Bloomburg.

Eva died on Tuesday, August, 30, 2011, at a Cypress hospital. She was born to parents Morris and Letha Coats on December 21, 1938, in Lisbon, Louisiana.

She was retired from Ticketmasters where she was employed for 30-plus years. She was a Christian by faith and enjoyed her pets and fishing.

Mrs. McMerrell is survived by her husband, Charles McMerrell of Trinity; sons, Maury Wayne Fuquay and wife Sarah of Austin and Paul McMerrell and wife Deb of Emory; brother, John Coats and wife Bobbie of Atlanta; sisters, Joyce Wilson and husband Homer of Longview and Marcelle Qualls and husband Carl of Avinger; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a grandson, Lucas McMerrell.

Arrangements were under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Hazel Lucille Gibson-Neal
1918 - 2011
Graveside services for Hazel Lucille Gibson-Neal were held August 30 at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Mrs. Gibson-Neal was born in Dallas on June 3, 1918, to Ben and Hazel Hennig. She resided in Lone Oak and worked for the Dr Pepper Company until June 3, 1980, when she retired.

Survivors include her daughter, Delores Brisendine of Garland; eight grandchildren, Amy Goodman and Mark and Tony Brisendine, all of Garland, Brian Brisendine of Van, Debbie Buck of East Tawakoni, Shawna Edwards of Galveston, Butch Gibson of Huntsville, Jennifer LeBlanc of Houston; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Calvin Robert Gibson and Joe Coy Neal; two sons, Robert and Ben Gibson; three brothers; and one sister.

O’Neal Boykin
1925 – 2011
Services for O’Neal Boykin, 86, of Alba are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel, Alba, with Bro. Jim Parker officiating.

Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Alba. Pallbearers will be Johnny Currey, Doug Eagerton, Joe Whitus, Doyle Barlow, Bill Byford and Joe Daniels.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mineola Masonic Lodge and grandsons, Scott Boykin, Benjamin Robertson, Jonathan Boykin, Chad Dorner, Clay Wright, Jace Boykin and Corbin Dorner.

Mr. Boykin died on Sunday, October 30, 2011, at his residence. He was born on August 3, 1925, in Murchison, to Ben and Clara Boykin.

He served as a Seabee in the Navy in World War II on Saipan and Tinian Island. He was on Okinawa when the Enola Gay dropped the bombs on Japan. When he was discharged, he returned to Alba where he married Faye Nichols on Jan. 10, 1947. They had four children.

He was a Past Master for the Mineola Masonic Lodge 502 and was the oldest surviving Past Master at that lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Faye Boykin; sons, Sammy and Tamra Boykin, and Mike Boykin; daughter, Kay and Randal Robertson; five grandchildren, Scott and Jill Boykin, Brandy and Chad Dorner, Jonathan Boykin, Benjamin and Erica Robertson, and Courtney and Clay Wright; and great-grandchildren, Sara Boykin, Jace Boykin, Morgan Dorner and Corbin Dorner.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Martha Ann Boykin.

Christopher Don Edwards
1979 – 2011
Christopher Don Edwards, 32, of Point, died at his home on Wednesday, October 26. He was born in Wylie on June 8, 1979, to Donald Frances and Vicki Evans Edwards. During his working career he was employed as a restaurant manager.

Survivors include his mother, Vicki Chase and husband Alton of Point; father, Donald Francis Edwards and wife Karen of Garland; sister, Amanda Whitener and husband Rocky of Greenville; brother, Charlie Edwards; grandparents, Dan and Luann Evans of Greenville; special nephews, Jordan, Zachary and Jacob; and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Don and Deana Edwards; and brother, Michael Edwards in 2011.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Wilson- Orwosky Funeral Home.

Jewel Ralph Ball
1929 - 2011
Memorial services for Jewel Ralph Ball, 82, of Alba, will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.

Mr. Ball died on Monday, December 19, 2011, at his residence. He was born May 19, 1929, in Sevierville, Tennessee, to William Pinkney and Etta Loveday Ball.

He married Zoe Ella Black on May 12, 1950, in Houston and lived most of his life in the Houston area prior to moving to Alba 31 years ago. He was a member of a brick mason’s union and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Zoe Ella Ball of Alba; daughters, Virginia Haley and Deborah Kaye Bruning both of Huntsville; grandson, Randall Ralph Digges of Houston; and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Digges of Houston.

Mr. Ball was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; and two sisters.
