Ray Garnell Pruitt
Ray Garnell Pruitt, 73, of Poolville died Sunday, April 22, 2007, in Gibtown. Funeral services were Thursday, April 26, at Gibtown Baptist Church with Pastor Don Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Gibtown Cemetery under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.
Mr. Pruitt was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Rule to the late T.P. and Jewell (Weaver) Pruitt. He was a technical illustrator for Bell Helicopter. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of Gibtown Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Craig Pruitt and wife Kathy of Arlington and Kevin Pruitt of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers Roger Pruitt and wife Kathy and Don Pruitt and wife Linda, all of Perrin; four grandchildren, Audrey, Craig Jr., Cory and Kendall; and a great-granddaughter, Kaytlin.

W.R. 'Junior' Carter Jr.
W.R. “Junior” Carter Jr. 84, of Electra died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Hospice of Wichita Falls. Services were Saturday, June 2, at First Baptist Church of Electra with the Rev. Randy Osborn, chaplain of the American Hospice in Wichita Falls, and the Rev. Paul Winegeart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed at Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter was born April 6, 1923, in Quinlin to Grace (Hunt) and Willis R. Carter Sr. He and Gladys Byrd were married Dec. 26, 1942. In 1943, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during World War II. After the war, he went to work for Warren Oil, which became Gulf Oil Corporation, now Chevron, where he retired after forty years of service. He lived in Nocona and Jacksboro before returning to Electra in 1976. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Electra and a licensed minister through Bible Baptist Church of Electra.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rick Carter, June 27, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Carter of Electra; two sons, Terry Carter of Electra and Larry Carter and wife Pat of Henrietta; a daughter-in-law, Janice Carter of Electra; six granddaughters, Christi and Andrea Carter of Carrollton, Heather Simpson of Jacksboro, Jacy Moore of Cooper, and Ashley and Kehra Carter of Electra; three grandsons, Scott Carter of Henrietta, Cody Carter of Jacksboro and Cy Carter of Cooper; seven great-grandchildren of Jacksboro; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 406 West Garrison, Electra, TX 76360.

Clement Charles Shook
Clement Charles Shook, 61, of Jacksboro died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in Wichita Falls. A private burial is planned.
Mr. Shook was born May 19, 1946, in Jacksboro to the late William Burleson and Willie Mae (Lemons) Shook. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include a daughter, Shari Craig of Wichita Falls; a son, William B. Shook of Tennessee; a sister, Rita Culwell and husband, Larry of Jacksboro; and two grandchildren.

Willie Don Preston
Willie Don Preston, 63, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, in Jacksboro. Funeral services were Sunday, July 1, at Coker Funeral Home Chapel with Eugene Weldon officiating. Burial followed at Loving Cemetery.
Mr. Preston was born July 18, 1943, in Wichita Falls to the late Willie Dee and Patsy Ruth (Haynes) Preston. He worked in oilfield services.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cris Preston; two sisters Deana Atwood and Vina Kincaid; and three brothers Robert, Odus and Aliva Dee Preston.
Survivors include a daughter, Hope Preston of Pampa; four sisters, Linda Rockey, Lounetta Damron, Debra Leatherwood and Karen Riddle, all of Jacksboro; and two brothers Thomas Preston and Johnny Preston, both of Jacksboro.

Louis Milton 'Rink' Fry
Louis Milton “Rink” Fry, 68, of Lake Kickapoo died Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Funeral services were Saturday, June 30, at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel with Dr. James Sterling officiating. Interment followed at Shannon Community Cemetery.
Mr. Fry was born in the Shannon Community and had resided at Lake Kickapoo since 2003. He was a member of the Baptist church. He was involved in the oilfield industry most of his life and was currently employed as a drilling superintendent by Cedar Springs Drilling Co.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred H. Fry.
Survivors include his wife, Jezabel Fry of Lake Kickapoo; his mother, Jewell Fry of Jacksboro; three sons, Louis Bob Fry of Jacksboro, David Brad Fry of Aledo and Curtis Wayne Fry of Euless; four grandchildren, Amber, Stephen, Tommy and Jason; two great-grandchildren; and an uncle, M.M. “Tuffy” Horn of Jacksboro.

Roland E. Lister
Memorial services are pending for Perrin resident Roland E. Lister, 72, who died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in Weatherford.

Jerome 'Spud' Spivey
Jerome “Spud” Spivey, 82, of Joy passed away Thursday, Dec, 4, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 7, at First United Methodist Church, Henrietta, with the Rev. Gregg Fletcher, pastor of First Baptist Church, Brady, officiating and the Rev. Dick Saunders, pastor of Joy United Methodist Church, assisting.
Burial followed at Joy Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Billy J. Henderson
Billy J. Henderson, 82, of Jacksboro died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, in Fort Worth.
Graveside services were Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Indian Mound Cemetery in Young County with Wayne Harden, pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Graham, officiating.
McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donald 'Tex' Lemond
Donald D. “Tex” Lemond, 87, of Lincoln, Neb., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008.
Memorial services were Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial will be at a later date.

Daniel D. Garner
Daniel D. Garner Jr., 83 of Midland, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at the Midland Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov.22, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Holeman officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Jean Smith Powers
Mrs. Jean Smith Powers of Charlotte, NC, died on Sunday, February 22, in the loving presence of her husband and children after a lifetime battle with diabetes and complications.
Born Louella Jean Smith on September 6, 1939, Jean was the daughter of the late David Calvin and Celia Mae Smith. A native of Jacksboro, Texas, she graduated from Jacksboro High in 1958 where she was a singer, majorette and French horn player. She graduated with honors from Texas Woman‘s University in 1961 and was listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. After graduation, Jean taught high school English at Memorial HS in Houston, Texas.
Jean married Charles Keith Powers on June 22, 1963, marking the beginning of 45 years of marriage that included her love for their children and grandchildren and her special touch of providing a beautiful, loving home for her family. Her greatest joy was having her family around her own dining room table.
Jean had many passions in life. She enjoyed music of all kinds. She was an avid cook and cake decorator, and also loved beautiful flowers and landscape. Jean shared her talents and creativity with her communities by volunteering at schools and churches. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, theater and travel. Her favorite destination was being with her family at Hilton Head.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles K. Powers of Charlotte; her son Calvin Stacy Powers of Chapel Hill, NC; her daughter, Cassandra Powers Johnson and husband Erik Johnson of Coppell, TX; her two grandsons, Spencer Riley Johnson and Garrett Reese Johnson of Coppell, TX; her two nieces, Karen Davenport of Jacksboro, TX, and Vicki Prouty of Plano, TX.
She was preceded in death by her sister Cora Ann Spivey and brother David Calvin Smith Jr.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 27, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksboro; Jean will then be laid to rest at Robert’s Prairie Cemetery near Jacksboro.
The family asks that memorials may be sent in Jean’s honor to Robert’s Prairie Cemetery Association.

Former Jacksboro resident Dorthie Sharp, 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at her home in Stephenville.
Graveside services were Saturday, Feb. 7, at West End Cemetery in Stephenville with Dr. Phillip Adams officiating.

Helen Roberts (Ellis) Littlejohn
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Eugene Faith Center for Helen R. Littlejohn of Eugene, Ore., who died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, of age-related causes.
She was 88.

W.M. 'Dub' Briscoe
W.M. “Dub” Brisco, 79, of Jacksboro died Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 7, at Bethel Assembly of God with Bros. Jaroy Carpenter and Jimmy Spalding officiating.
Burial followed at Wesley Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.

Veronica (Hernandez) Horton, 40, of Jacksboro died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Jacksboro.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Coker Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. B.J. Nunley officiating.
Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25.

Gracie Tanner
Gracie (Erwin) Tanner, 87, of Joplin, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Bridgeport.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 24, at Joplin Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Earl Rhone and Loury Drue Nero officiating.
Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home.

Veronica (Hernandez) Horton, 40, of Jacksboro died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Jacksboro.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Coker Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. B.J. Nunley officiating.
Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25.

Donald M. Easley
Donald M. Easley, 77, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at his home in Perrin. Services were Saturday, June 20, First Baptist Church of Perrin with the Rev. Mark Sims officiating.
Mr. Easley was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Memphis, Tenn.
He married Cherry Alston in 1950. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Perrin, where he was an active deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Zachary Blake Gober
Zachary Blake Gober, 18, died Monday, July 26, 2010, in Boyd.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport with the Rev. Gary Dimmitt officiating.
Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Jack County.

Elizabeth “Liz” Worthington, 81, of Jacksboro died Monday, July 26, 2010, in Jacksboro.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Wizard Wells Cemetery with Bro. Melvin Clay officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.

Jimmy Allard
Jimmy Austin “Buddy” Allard, 82, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in Jacksboro.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Coker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Ward officiating.
Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls.

Oscar Forbus
Oscar Forbus, age 82, of Graham, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, in Palo Pinto County.
