Earl H. Joswiak
Jan. 22, 1932 — Feb. 2, 2003

BRENHAM — Services for Earl H. Joswiak, 71, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham.

The Rev. Richard Tijerina will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Joswiak died Sunday in Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos.

He was born in Shiner and graduated from Brenham High School, Blinn College and St. Edward’s University. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a city and rural carrier. He was a member of the Rural Letter Carrier’s Association and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served as Eucharistic minister and CCD teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Joswiak; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Joswiak, Timothy and Cindy Joswiak and Mark Joswiak, all of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Richard Harbin of Plano; a sister-in-law, Shirley Joswiak of Dallas; his mother-in-law, Gertrude Faske; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Diane Faske, Morris and Kathy Faske and Carroll C. “Butch” and Betsy Faske; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sally and Kenneth Blum and Cindy and Bobby Kolkhorst; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Nancy Carol Roberts Library.

Mary Lee Locke
March 19, 1951 — Jan. 28, 2003

Services for Mary Lee Locke, 51, of Hugo, Okla., are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark Baptist Church in College Station.

The Rev. Ray Jones of Unity Christian Church in Jacksonville, Fla., will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. Locke died Wednesday in Tulsa, Okla.

She was born in Brazos County and lived in Hugo 28 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Locke.

Survivors include two sons, Trevilous Locke of Oklahoma City and Marcell Locke of Hugo; a daughter, Chantrell Locke of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Rufus Jefferson of Tulsa and Robert Franklin of Houston; two sisters, Pat Jones of Jacksonville, Fla., and Shelia Amos of College Station; her parents, Lillie Boose of Hugo and the Rev. Gloster Jefferson of College Station; and three grandchildren.

James ‘Cotton’ Patterson
April 3, 1917 — Feb. 2, 2003

Services for James “Cotton” Patterson, 85, of College Station are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.

The Rev. Jerry Russum will officiate. Burial will be in the Stoneham Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Patterson died Sunday at Colton Inn.

He was born in Navasota and lived in College Station four years. He was retired as a pipefitter in construction. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local No. 211 in Houston and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Patterson of Millican; two sons, Hershel Blackford of Leadville, Colo., and Daniel Blackford of Luling; two daughters, Delores Willingham of Willis and Rosalind Perry of Mineral Wells; two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Patterson of Millican and Juanita Patterson of Bryan; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Charles V. Pierson
May 26, 1932 — Feb. 2, 2003

GRAPELAND — Services for Charles V. Pierson, 70, of Grapeland are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart.

The Rev. Floyd Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrim Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Grapeland.

Mr. Pierson died Sunday in the East Texas Medical Center in Crockett.

He was born in Anderson County and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. He worked as a manager in the oil field industry and served in the U.S. Navy in Korea.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Pierson.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Pierson of Grapeland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Vaughn and Marilyn Pierson of Longview and Keith and Alma Pierson of College Station; a sister, Irma Duitch of Jacksonville; two brothers, Wayne Pierson of Elkhart and Carroll Pierson of McKinney; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jose Rios
Aug. 2, 1912 — Feb. 2, 2003

NAVASOTA — Services for Jose Rios, 90, of Navasota are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Navasota.

The Rev. Paul G. Felix of Christ Our Light Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home in Navasota and from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the church.

A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Rios died Sunday in the College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Piedmont and was a lifelong resident of Navasota. He was a retired phone cable installer and was a member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lupe Quintanilla.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Rios Jr. of Houston and Ricky Rios of Navasota; seven daughters, Delores Rios, Carmen Rios, Josephine Rios, Mary Medina, Susie Delgado and Monica Rios, all of Navasota, and Martha Morales of Bryan; 27 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

Edward L. Williams
Nov. 5, 1910 — Feb. 1, 2003

HEARNE — Graveside services for Edward L. Williams, 92, of Franklin are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hix Cemetery.

Dale Wells will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Williams died Saturday.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Bishop; and a son, Charles E. Williams.

Mildred Viola Allison
Jan, 16, 1929 - Feb. 4, 2003

Graveside services for Mildred “Millie” V. Allison, age 74, of College Station, Texas will be held at the College Station Cemetery on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 10:00 am. Reverend Glynn Ferguson will officiate.

Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station on Wednesday, February 5th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

“Millie” was born in Rosebud, Texas as Mildred Viola Worsham to Arthur Mason Worsham and Julia Jacobs. She worked for Mr. Paul “Bear” Bryant and Mr. W.C. Freeman, then retired from Texas A&M University. Following a lengthy illness, she passed away Tuesday Morning at the St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Votial Harvey Newton, her parents, and a son, John David Allison.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Allison of College Station; one son and daughter-in-law, Mason and Doris Newton of College Station; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Joe Hernandez of Bryan; and Janet and Don Allphin of Bellville; a twin sister, Marian “Bonnie” Creagor of Brazos County; and a sister, Clara Winder of Bryan; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, a favorite of Mrs. Allison’s.

LeeAnna McGee
April 17, 1925 — Feb. 1, 2003

Services for LeeAnna McGee, 77, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Lee Chapel United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Floyd Polk Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the New Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. McGee died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Brazos County, attended John L. Moore High School and was a member of Lee Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Nathan McGee of Bryan; five sons, Nathaniel McGee Jr. and Charles McGee, both of Bryan, Clifton McGee of San Antonio, Alvin McGee of Lubbock and Monroe McGee of Bryan; six daughters, Mary Lewis, Dora Bazy, Peggy Henderson, Laurice Franklin, Paula Tarver and Iris Morrison, all of Bryan; four brothers, A Jay Monroe, James Henry Monroe and Elmer Monroe, all of Bryan, and Harrison Monroe of Houston; three sisters, Ruby Jewel Williams, Bonita Idlebird and Mildred Cooper, all of Houston; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Ruby Lee Swanzy
Oct. 8, 1918 — Feb. 4, 2003

CAMERON — Services for Ruby Lee Swanzy, 84, of Cameron are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

The Rev. James E. Lafferty will officiate. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Green-Patterson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Swanzy died Tuesday in a Cameron Nursing Home.

She was born in Milam County. She worked for Dr. W.R. Newton, Dr. T.L. Denson and the Colonial Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.A. “Bert” Swanzy.

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Winnie Mae and Raymond Green of Cameron; three nephews; and three nieces.
