Edward White
Aug. 12, 1927 — Feb. 17, 2003

LIBERTY HILL — Services for Edward White, 75, of Liberty Hill are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. White died Monday at his home.

Born in Menard County, he was a deliveryman and supervisor for Superior Dairies and Borden Milk Co., where he worked for 34 years.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Baptist church and the Liberty Hill VFW.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo White.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tommy and Kelly White of Great Bend, Kan., Mark and Bobbie Ray of Albuquerque, N.M., and James White of Liberty Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and John Davis of Euless; a brother, Wade Atkinson of Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Perdue of Post; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Dr. Ralph Burt Clarke
May 14, 1913 — Feb. 16, 2003

BRENHAM — Services for Dr. Ralph Burt Clarke, 89, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

The Rev. Virgil Pecht will officiate. Burial will be in the Chappell Hill Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Dr. Clarke died Sunday.

He was born in Birmingham, Mich., and was a retired family practice physician. He graduated from the University of Michigan and earned his doctorate from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Morton Clarke of Brenham; three daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Salazar of Temple, Nanalee and Steve Wanha of Canton, Ga., and Gaila and Fred Pena of Brenham; and 10 grandchildren.

Francisco ‘Frank’ Mireles
Feb. 20, 1927 — Feb. 18, 2003

ROCKDALE - Services for Francisco “Frank” Mireles, 75, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockdale.

Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Rev. Robert Herald will officiate.

Mr. Mireles died Tuesday at his home.

A lifelong resident of Rockdale, Mr. Mireles was a locomotive mechanic for Rockdale Sandow and Southern Railraod for 33 years before retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947.

Survivors include his wife, Maurine Mireles of Rockdale; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Frank Mireles Jr. and Victoria of Santa Clarita, Cal., Robert and Lydia Mireles of Tyler, John Mireles of Rockdale and Mike Mireles of Temple; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Mary Mireles of Rockdale, Maurine and Amelio Mendez of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Rosie and J.B. Johnson, Rebecca and Richard Green and Paula and Robert Sides, all of Rockdale; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bessie and Sam Masiel of Rockdale, Valentina and Lewis Pachicano of Wolforth and Jessie and John Juarez of Hobbs, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Marilyn ‘Miss Lynn’ Plotts
Oct. 14, 1959 — Feb. 18, 2003

Services for Marilyn “Miss Lynn” Plotts, 43, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Dr. Bruce Wood will officiate. Burial will be in the Restever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Plotts died Tuesday at her home.

She was born in Passaic, N.J., and owned and operated the Big Bear Day Care for the past 25 years. She had been a resident of Bryan since 1978.

Survivors include her husband, Norman “Mr. Kelly” Pattinson of Bryan; a daughter, Jennifer Plotts of San Antonio; two brothers and a sister-in-law, J.C. and Lori Lucas of Ohio and Jim Lucas of Bowie, Md.; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Debbie and Paul Ploski of Front Royal, Va., Tina and Kenny Butler of Richmond, Va., Teresa and Luke Steele of Annapolis, Md., and Sandra Lucas of Bowie, Md.; her parents, Samuel and Patricia Lucas of Bowie, Md.; and one granddaughter.

James E. Perry
Feb. 5, 1940 — Feb. 14, 2003

SEATTLE — Services for James E Perry, 63, of Seattle are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Marks Baptist Church in College Station.

The Rev. Robert Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the Hammond Colony Cemetery in Hearne.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Perry died Friday in Seattle.

Born in Bryan, he graduated from Kemp High School in 1959 and lived in Seattle for the past 42 years. He was retired from Boeing.

Mr. Perry served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Seattle.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelia Perry of Seattle; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Freddie L. and Rosie Lee Robertson of San Pablo, Calif., Charlie Benford of Seattle, and William Benford of Bryan; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruby L. and James Simpson of College Station and Evelyn Joyce Perry, Brenda Harris and Dorothy Nowlin Washington, all of Bryan; and one grandchild.

Andrew R. “Drew” Davis IV passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, in Arlington.

Mass and Christian Burial: 1 pm Wednesday, Feb. 19, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Arlington. Graveside services were at 11 am on Thursday, Feb 20, at Forest Park West Cemetery in Houston.

Memorials: Edna Gladney Home of Fort Worth; 6300 John Ryan Dr., Ft. Worth, TX 76132.

Andrew R. “Drew” Davis IV was born May 27, 1983, in Ft. Worth and was a 2002 graduate of Martin High School. Drew was a fourth generation Aggie, having been admitted to Texas A&M Galveston in the fall of 2002. He most recently worked as a state inspector for a local service station. Drew’s early years were spent in Houston. He was a natural outdoorsman and a good athlete. He achieved his “Arrows of Light” in Boy Scouts before the family moved to Arlington in 1995. Drew attended Wood Elementary, Boles Junior High and Martin High School. He played football for Wood, Boles and Martin as a freshman. Drew had many friends and loved cars and video games. He was smart, witty, and full of life. He was loved deeply by his family and will be unimaginably missed. His mother and father are very proud of him, especially his close relationship with his brother, Kenny.

Survivors: Father Andrew R. “Dusty” Davis III; his mother Cynthia LaMar Davis; brother Kenneth LaMar Davis; grandparents, Ms. Elise Davis of Houston, Mr. & Mrs. Donald LaMar of Bryan and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Henrietta (Penny) Coleman
Henrietta (Penny) Coleman, born November 9, 1922, in MacLanahan, Texas to Louis M. and Lola Maw Newman, passed away in her home late Monday evening, February 17, 2003, surrounded by her children.

Educated at Texas State College for Women, Denton, she majored in the art and after graduation worked as a fashion illustrator. Henrietta married

James Edward Coleman in San Francisco during WWII and after the war, they settled near their parents in the small farming community of Chilton, Texas. Henrietta continued painting and also managed the bookkeeping for the family cattle business while raising three children.

In the early seventies the Colemans moved to Huntsville, Texas and Henrietta purchased the Huntsville Flower and Gift Shop. After the untimely death of her husband in 1975 she continued working and put their children through college while running the flower shop. She was an energetic businesswoman, gardener, artist and collector of antiques. She loved to paint portraits, still life scenes and landscapes.

Since her retirement in the mid 80’s Henrietta became active with United Methodist Women, The Wesleyans Group which she enjoyed a great deal. She also traveled with her daughters, visiting England, Scotland and France. Henrietta is survived by her three children, Priscilla Coleman Fell of

London, England, James Edward Coleman of Huntsville, Texas and Becky Coleman of Conroe, Texas. She has two grandsons, Jac Coleman and Joe Coleman. Also, brothers Pete Newman and Charles Newman of Bryan / College Station, Texas plus many nieces, nephews and cousins who will all miss her dearly.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Henrietta Coleman’s name to the Moorville United Methodist Church c/o Mary Jane Huber, 104 County Rd. 499A, Chilton, Texas 76632

Services are under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home.

Richard Allen Goodrum
Dec. 8, 1932 — Feb. 21, 2003

BEDIAS — Services for Richard Allen Goodrum, 70, of Bedias are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Bedias.

The Rev. Jerald Brown of the Bedias Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Goodrum died Friday in Huntsville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Madison County and was retired after 32 years in sales with the Big-3 Industrial Gas Co.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda Goodrum of Bedias; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen Luther and Amy Goodrum of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Ida Lynell and Guy Lilly of Richmond; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Shirley Goodrum of Bedias; a nephew, six grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

Jeffery Don Johnson
Nov. 21, 1961 — Feb. 20, 2003

CENTERVILLE — Services for Jeffery Don Johnson, 41, of Leona are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville.

The Rev. Joe Barnes, retired Assembly of God minister, will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Brookside Cemetery in Houston.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson died Thursday near Leona as the result of an auto accident.

He was born in Houston and lived in the Centerville area seven years. He was employed as a cook at The Town Café in Centerville and Parkview C. Store near Fort Boggey State Park in Leona. He was of the Assembly of God faith.

Survivors include his parents and their spouses, Don and Kathy Johnson of Leona and Edith and Alfred Arvizu of Wills Point; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Van Dewayne Johnson of Normangee and Stanley Keith and Karla Connally of Dallas; and a sister, Tina Latham of Katy.
