Sept. 30, 2002 — Jan. 3, 2003

TYLER — Services for Samuel Keith Garner, 3 months, of Tyler are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church in Tyler.

Monsignor Joe Strickland will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors in Tyler.

Samuel died Friday in the Tyler Hospital.

He was born in the Tyler Hospital and was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Survivors include his parents, Karen and Brandon Garner of Tyler; a sister, Sydney Anne Garner; and four grandparents, Rosalind and Tom Keith and Bobbi and Duane Garner.

Lemroy Goldberg
Nov. 26, 1952 — Jan. 3, 2003

BURTON — Services for Lemroy Goldberg, 50, of Burton are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John United Church of Christ in Burton.

The Rev. Glen Schoeneberg will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.

Mr. Goldberg died Friday in Blanco County, Texas.

He was born in Brenham and owned and operated Goldberg Farm Service. He was a graduate of Burton High School and was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Burton Chamber of Commerce and the Burton Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ray Goldberg of Burton; a son, Nick Goldberg of Burton; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Misty and Kevin Lucherk of Burton and Kacey and Chad Weiss of Brenham; a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Jack and Marsha Ray and René Runge, all of Brenham, and Jackie Ray of Burton; his mother-in-law, Jerlene Ray of Brenham; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the St. John United Church of Christ Building Fund.

Bertha Meier Krueger
Sept. 18, 1915 — Jan. 4, 2003

CALDWELL — Services for Bertha Meier Krueger, 87, of Caldwell are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Rev. Henry Beseda will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Krueger died Saturday at St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.

She was born in the Birch community of Burleson County and was a homemaker. She worked for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and later helped her husband make deliveries for the Coca-Cola Company. She was a longtime member of the Caldwell Brethren Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Krueger.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Arvell and Bettie Poehl of Caldwell; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Maedell and James Hardy of Bryan and Darlene and Clarence Collin Wolbrueck of Caldwell; a sister, Emma Krueger of Caldwell; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Caldwell Brethren Church.

Avery G. Timmons
Sept. 11, 1920 — Jan. 4, 2003

HEARNE — Services for Avery G. Timmons, 82, of Calvert are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Calvert.

Dan Bates will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvert City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Timmons died Saturday in Bryan.

He was born in Wellington and was ordained as a minister at the age of 19. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Baylor University in 1950 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1953. He pastored 18 years prior to his 26 year career as a prison chaplain, during which he studied Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nannie Lee Epperson Timmons.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Lawson Timmons of Calvert; two sons, Timothy Avery Timmons of Rusk and Terry Lawson of Calvert; a daughter, Jan Ellen Vinzant of Waco; a brother, Donnal Timmons of Houston; and a sister, Lila McGaw of Houston.

George William Wooley
July 22, 1921 — Jan. 4, 2003

CORPUS CHRISTI — Services for George William Wooley, 81, of Corpus Christi are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Wooley died Saturday in a Corpus Christi hospital.

He was born in Neeleyville, Mo., and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church since 1942, where he served as president of the Second Baptist Brotherhood, as deacon, leader of Royal Ambassadors, teacher of the Young married Couples, teacher of Senior Men’s Class, and Ministry for the Homeless-Furman Ave. Baptist Church. He was president of the Uptown Rotary Club and director of Quality Control Division ARADMAC, retiring in 1977. Upon his retirement, he opened Wooley’s Small Engine Repair Shop and taught at Del Mar West Campus.

Survivors include his wife, Cleo Vernette Covey Wooley; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah Sue and Walter Laich of Cypress and Laura Jane Danly of Corinth; a son and daughter-in-law, William “Randy” and Peggy Randolph Wooley of Franklin; five sisters, Marie Miller of Toledo, Ohio, Betty Jane Arnold and Joan Fitsko, both of Holiday, Fla., Shirley Sasso of Knightsville, Ind., and Diana Conte of New Jersey; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosa Escamillia Guajardo
Feb. 23, 1914 — Jan. 5, 2003

Services for Rosa Escamillia Guajardo, 88, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Albert Ruiz of St. Teresa Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Hillier Funeral Home.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Guajardo died Sunday at her home.

She was born in Poteet and was a retired homemaker. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Guadalupanas, the Crusaders and the women’s bible study.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Guajardo.

Survivors include five sons and two daughters-in-law, Sotero and Lupe Guajardo, Jose Sr. and Felisa Guajardo, Louis Guajardo, David Guajardo and Peter Guajardo, all of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lupe and Manuel Barrera of San Antonio and Lydia and Al Ramos of Austin; 31 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Daniel Juarez Jr.
April 6, 1973 — Jan. 3, 2003

Services for Daniel Juarez Jr., 29, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Kirby Garner of St. Anthony Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Juarez died Friday at his home.

He was born in Bartow, Fla., and was a truck driver for Transit-Mix of Bryan. He attended Bryan High School and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Diane Rosales Juarez of Bryan; a son, Daniel “Baby D” Juarez of Bryan; five step-sons, Michael Gongora, Amos Gongora, Esteban Gongora, Ted Gongora and Jenaro Gongora, all of Bryan; two daughters, Lorraine Juarez and Amber “Grandma” Juarez, both of Bryan; three step-daughters, Leslie Gongora and Dena Gongora, both of Bryan, and Monica Miessler of Chicago, Ill.; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Benito and Jennifer Juarez, Steve and Nancy Guevara, Ken Guevara and Santiago Guevara, all of Bryan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Danielle Juarez of Bryan and Sylvia and Thomas Guevara of Austin; his parents, Daniel Sr. and Mary Juarez of Bryan; his grandmother, Theodora Perez of Bryan; and three grandchildren.

James D. Conway
Sept. 30, 1919 — Jan. 5, 2003

Services for James D. Conway, 83, of Burton are set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Jim Adams of the First Baptist Church in Somerville will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Conway died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Penola County and was retired as a PBX repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Somerville.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Pate Conway of Burton; a daughter, Bobbie Jean Conway Allen of Burton; two brothers-in-law, O.L. Pate of Kurten and Clyde Pate of Bryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Jimmy Wahnon of Houston; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

JoAnna Dorsey
Oct. 3, 1956 — Jan. 2, 2003

Services for JoAnna Dorsey, 46, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Sylvester Smith of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Miss Dorsey died Thursday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was a lifelong resident of Bryan and worked for New Trend Industries. She attended Bryan schools and was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, William Howard Dorsey and Leon Dorsey, both of Bryan; and three sisters, Cassie Dorsey and Joyce Marie Jackson, both of Bryan, and Bobbie Jean Jordan of San Diego, Calif.
