James Mack Smith Jr.
PASADENA — Services for James Mack Smith Jr., 79, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Pasadena Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died Wednesday.

He was retired in 1984 after 37 years with Shell Oil. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 521. He was also a member of the Pasadena Masonic Lodge No. 1155 for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Smith; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Minnie and Emiel Ritchie, Bobbie and George Boyer, Aline and J.W. Hamilton and DeLora and Emin Ozyazic; and an aunt.

Ella Mae Walker
Nov. 2, 1902 — Oct. 31, 2002

Graveside services for Ella Mae Walker, 99, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Alexander Cemetery in the Alexander community.

The Revs. Tim Skaggs of Central Baptist Church and Ray Marshall of Reliance Baptist Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Walker died Thursday in Sherwood Health Care Center.

She was born in the Reliance community and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was retired as a cashier for the General Telephone Co. (GTE) and belonged to Central Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Phebean Sunday school class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William John Walker.

Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Phebean Bible Class of Central Baptist Church or to a charity of choice.

Ella Mae Walker

Graveside funeral services for Ella Mae Walker, 99, of Bryan will be held at the Alexander Cemetery in the Tabor Community at 10 a.m. Monday.

Funeral arrangements are with Hillier Funeral Home.

Officiating will be the Rev. Tim Skaggs of Central Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Ray Marshall, pastor of Reliance Baptist Church.

Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home.

Mrs. Walker was born in the Reliance Community and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. Born November 2, 1902. She was a Granddaughter of Walter Allen Stewart and Joseph Arnold Seale, both Pioneers of Brazos County and Veterans of the Civil War. Mrs. Walker was employed by the local telephone company in 1920, and later, the Southwest Telephone Company. This extended over a 40 year period. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she was secretary of a Sunday School class for many years. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, William John of Bryan; Her Father, John Rawdon Stewart and Mother, Mary Lena Stewart of the Reliance Community. Three brothers, Milton, John and Marcus Stewart. Two sisters, Belle Smith and Rose Warren. Three nieces, Helen McKenzie, Lena Ruth Eden and Johnnie Stribling. Survivors include one niece, Gloria Livingston and husband, Ollie B. Livingston of Lubbock. Nephews, Herman Stewart of Fort Worth, Joe Stewart of Albany, Texas, John Dee Stewart and wife Joye of Mangum, Oklahoma, Cecil Stewart and wife Jean of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, James Stewart of Balch Springs, Texas, Preston Smith and wife Ann of Dickinson, Texas. Several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Phebean Bible Class of Central Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be the six nephews.

Henry Banks Jr.
April 24, 1923 — Oct. 31, 2002

Services for Henry Banks Jr., 79, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Miracle Temple Church Of God In Christ in Bryan.

The Rev. Samuel Gibson of the Miracle Temple Church Of God In Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Banks died Thursday in Temple.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a retired auto mechanic. He was a graduate of E.A. Kemp High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Miracle Temple Church Of God In Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorcas Lightfoot Banks.

Survivors include a son, Charles Edwin Banks of Richmond; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl Ann and Zephaniah Smith of College Station and Sandra Davis of Forestville, Md.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Miracle Temple Church Of God In Christ.

Patrick Donald Cooper
March 15, 1942 — Oct. 31, 2002

Services for Patrick Donald Cooper, 60, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Covenant Presbyterian Church in College Station.

The Revs. Sam Steele and David Owens will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Cooper died Thursday at his home.

He was born in San Angelo and lived in College Station 13 years. He grew up in Sonora and Fort Stockton and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1964. He was a financial adviser and worked as a rancher, a real estate developer and established the independent brokerage firm Private Counsel Group in Houston. He was involved in the Harris County Toys for Tots and was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock & Rodeo Show. He was a 42nd degree Mason and was a member of Arabia Shrine Temple. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra T. Cooper of College Station; a son, James P. Cooper of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Cooper and Kyle Greenwood of Bryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jack and Don Rains of San Marcos; five nieces and nephews; and two grandnieces.

Memorials may be made in memory of Pat Cooper to the Educational Fund, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, P.O. Box 20070, Houston, Texas 77225.

Sam Frank Dicharo
Sept. 6, 1929 — Nov. 1, 2002

Graveside services for Sam Frank Dicharo, 73, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.

The Rev. Kirby Garner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Dicharo died Friday at Colton Inn.

He was born in Brazos County and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He was owner and operator of Sam’s Shoe Shop and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Frank Samuel Dicharo.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Dicharo of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Donna Dicharo of Bryan; a daughter, Katherine Dicharo of Bryan; two brothers, Joe Gilmore of Bryan and Ernest Gilmore of Copperas Cove; and a sister, Betty Kraatz of Bryan.

Theresa Margaret Ferguson
Dec. 31, 1920 — Nov. 1, 2002

Memorial services for Theresa Margaret Ferguson, 81, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Charles R. Mason will officiate. Burial will be in Albuquerque, N.M.

Mrs. Ferguson died Friday at St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Lincoln, Neb., and lived in Bryan 2 1/2 years. She was a retired homemaker and was a Protestant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland Ferguson.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Linda Ferguson of Ogden, Utah; a daughter, Shelia Ferguson of Bryan; two sisters, Virginia Fahrenbruch of Denver, and Elsie Homyak of Fort Lupton, Colo.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Patricia ‘Pat’ Judith Gerrans
HEMPSTEAD — Services for Patricia “Pat” Judith Gerrans, 64, of Hempstead are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Katherine Drexil Catholic Church in Hempstead.

Burial will be at the Gerrans Family Cemetery at the family farm in Hempstead.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mrs. Gerrans died Friday.

She was born in Chicago and graduated from the Norwegian American Hospital School of Nursing. She was an obstetrics and surgical nurse. She was a patron of the Brazos Valley Animal Shelter and the SPCA.

Survivors include her husband, Al Gerrans of Hempstead; her mother, Lucille Zimmer Fincher of Houston; two daughters, Sue Dowling of Hempstead and Jackie Gerrans of Cypress; a son, Jeff Gerrans of Hockley; a sister, Linda Fincher of Houston; her mother-in-law, Thelma Gerrans of San Francisco; a sister-in-law, Barbara Gerrans Sheffer of San Clemente, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brazos Valley Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 4191, Bryan, Texas 77805.

Leslie James Mosley Sr.
Feb. 28, 1937 — Oct. 29, 2002

NORMANGEE — Services for Leslie James Mosley Sr., 65, of Normangee are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Robinson Chapel in Marquez.

The Rev. Joe Spurling will officiate. Burial will be in the Brushy Cemetery in Marquez.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.

Mr. Mosley died Tuesday.

He was born in Corsicana.

Survivors include five sons, Jackie Mosley, Kenneth Mosley, Leslie Mosley Jr., Calvin Jones and Keith Jones, all of Normangee; seven daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Henry Green of Houston, Marilyn Mosley and Theresha Nelson, both of Bryan, Elanda Nelson of Hearne, Eledia Nelson of Franklin and Gwendolyn Jones and Rachel Jones, both of Normangee; three brothers, Lawyer Tucker of Washington, Raymond Tucker of Hearne and Charles Mosley of Oklahoma; two sisters, Linda Dotson of Oklahoma and Gladys Hawthorne of Franklin; and numerous grandchildren.
