Clarence “Spooney” Heard Sr.
Aug. 5, 1932 - Nov. 4, 2002

HOUSTON — Services for Clarence “Spooney” Heard Sr., 70, of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Clay. Burial will be in the Old Gay Hill Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at St. Agnes Baptist Church, 3730 South Acres Drive in Houston.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Mr. Heard died Monday at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born in Brenham and attended Brenham public schools. He later moved to Houston, where he became a member of St. Agnes Baptist Church. He was a choir member.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Alberta and D.W. Whitfield of Houston; six daughters and sons-in-law, Walterine and Cynthia Heard of Bryan, Brenda and Alexander Pratt and Doris Payton of Houston, Lorrine and DeWayne Butler of Shreveport, La., and Wanda Louise Hargers of Waxahachie; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Clarence Heard Jr. and wife Sherry of Bryan and Kalvin Heard of Houston; their mother, Ruby Lee Heard-Sims; two daughters, Geneva Jones of Brenham and Monica Benefield of Houston; 26 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Memorials may be sent to St. Agnes Baptist Church.

G.M. “Marty” Easterling
Dec. 25, 1924 - Nov. 7, 2002

Services for G.M. “Marty” Easterling, 77, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Bryan.

Dr. Morris House and Rev. Marlin Fenn will officiate. Entombment will be at Rest-Ever Mausoleum under the auspices of Brazos Union Lodge No. 129.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Easterling died Thursday at his residence.

He was born in Leona and graduated in 1949 from Sam Houston State University. He owned and operated Kazmeier Poultry & Hatchery until 1979 and served on the boards of First National Bank and First Federal Savings & Loan. He was a Mason, a Shriner and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Easterling served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.  Survivors include his wife, Hazel Esterling of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kay Easterling of Bryan; a daughter, Mary Hazle Watson of College Station; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Mary Ellen Easterling of Moyers, Okla., Curtis and Bonnie Easterling of Leona and Dr. A.M. Jr. and Peggy Easterling of Centerville; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 205 E. 29th St., or First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 3846, Bryan, 77805.

Betty Jo McDonald
Feb. 7, 1926 - Nov. 5, 2002

BENCHLEY — Services for Betty Jo McDonald, 76, of Benchley are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Benchley Church of Christ.

Richard Fox, Joe Harding, Jesse Jenkins and Scott Finley will be officiating. Burial will be at the Rest-Ever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. McDonald died Tuesday in Dallas. Born in Crowell, she had lived in Benchley for the past ten years after moving from Longview. She was a member of Benchley Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Robert L. McDonald of Benchley; three daughters, Janet Hunt of Mesquite, Karla Marquis of Tyler and Connie Peden of Quinlan; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James Ramsey Fulton
Nov. 20, 1912 - Nov. 5, 2002

FRANKLIN — Services for James Ramsey Fulton, 89, of Franklin are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Henry Prairie Baptist Church. Joe Fulton will officiate. Burial will be in the Henry Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 4 to 8 p.m., and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Mr. Fulton died Tuesday at his residence.

He was born in Franklin. He received his education at Henry Prairie and Franklin High School. He had been a resident of Franklin for the past 27 years and was previously from Houston. He was a retired farmer, rancher and machinist. He retired from FMC Corp. after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Henry Prairie Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eddie Louise Morgan Fulton. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie Marlene and George B. King of Houston; two brothers, Jodie Fulton of Mt. Enterprise and Andrew Fulton of Franklin; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren,; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Travis A. Weedon
Oct. 6, 1925 - Nov. 7, 2002

Services for Travis A. Weedon, 77, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Dr. Tim Owens of First Baptist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Steep Hollow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Weedon died Thursday at his residence.

He was born in the Harvey community of Brazos County and was a lifetlong resident. He was a rancher and World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Weedon of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and John Sykes of Bryan; a sister-in-law, Nellie Weedon of Bryan; a sister, Margaret Ann Boles of Bellaire; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Brazos Valley or to Bethel Baptist Church.

J.W. Jarmon
Sept. 27, 1928 - Nov. 2, 2002

ROUND ROCK — Services for J.W. Jarmon, 74, of Round Rock and formerly of San Antonio are set for noon Saturday at Bethel St. Paul Baptist Church in Giddings. Burial will be in the Copperas Cemetery in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Roberson Mortuary in Giddings.

Mr. Jarmon died Saturday.

Robert Wayne Powers
Aug. 4, 1945 - Nov. 1, 2002

PEARSALL — Services for Robert Wayne Powers, 57, of Pearsall are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Stirckland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville.

Rev. Don Laird will officiate. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery.  Mr. Powers died Monday in a San Antonio hospital.

He was born in Edinburgh and worked as a cross-country truck driver. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pearsall.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Powers of Pearsall; six daughters, Terrie Rashall of Silsby, Patty Powers of Houston, Juanita Hogg of Lott, Teresa Gonzalez of Persall, Donna Odom of Ingleside and June Dodd of Austin; three sons, David Hood of Lyons, Austin Powers of Devine and George Allen Powers of Amarillo; three sisters, Dorothy Powers, Gwen Cheek and Sherry Powers; two brothers, Al Powers and Chester Powers; and 14 grandchildren.

Robert Eugene Mohr
May 26, 1943 —November 3, 2002

Robert Eugene Mohr, born May 26, 1943, Dallas, Texas passed away November 3, 2002. Robert “Bob” Mohr is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Susan Gayle Horn Mohr and their son Robert Eugene Mohr, Jr. He is also survived by his mother Joyce Loving Mohr and his stepmother Lady Collins Mohr, his brother William George Mohr, sister Pamela Mohr Simcox, four nieces and nephews and six grand nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Eugene Alden Mohr, his paternal and maternal grand parents Eugene Barnard Mohr and Mamie Jones Mohr, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse George Loving.

Bob is the grandson of two well-known Dallas pioneer families. The Mohr family, originators of Mohr Chevrolet Company beginning in the 1930’s where he worked from January 1966 to November 1980 and the Loving family, instrumental in the origination of the Dallas Federal Savings and Loan Association.

Bob worked for his good friend and mentor J. L. Huffines of Huffines Chevrolet Subaru, Inc. of Lewisville, Texas for twenty-two years. He was on the executive Board of North Texas Chevrolet Dealers, served as the executive director 12th Man Foundation Texas A&M University, served on NCAA Certification Committee Texas A&M University, served on Athletic Compliance Committee 12th Man Foundation Texas A&M University, served on the Development Committee 12th Man Foundation of Texas A&M University, past vice president of the Dallas A&M Club. He was also past Director of the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce, past director of North Texas Bank, board of directors North Texas Hunter Jumper Association, served as President of the 12th Man Foundation Year of 2000, served as Subaru Dealer Council Representative District. He was a wonderful father that always had time for his family despite his many obligations. He was liked by most, respected by all; Bob Mohr you will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2002, at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Wattinger, John Slaughter, Jerry McFarland, Bob Jaeckle, Kirk Springer, Bob Springer, Dean Ueckert, and Jim Coker. Honorary Pallbearers will be J. L. Huffines, Tim Cassidy, R. C. Slocum, Miles Marks, Dr. John Koldus, Ray Huffines, Paul Bass, R. W. Hutchison, the employees of the dealership, and the staff of the Athletic Department at Texas A&M University.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the 12th Man Foundation at Texas A&M University in the name of Robert E. Mohr, P.O. Drawer L-1, College Station, TX 77844-9101.

John Ramsey Fulton
Nov. 20, 1912 — Nov. 5, 2002

FRANKLIN — Services for John Ramsey Fulton, 89, of Franklin are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Henry Prairie Baptist Church.

He was born in Franklin and was a resident of Franklin 27 years, previously living in Houston. He received his education at Henry Prairie and Franklin High School He was a retired farmer, rancher and machinist. He retired from FMC Corp. after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Henry Prairie Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eddie Louise Morgan Fulton.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie Marlene and George B. King of Houston; a brother, Jodie Fulton of Mount Enterprise; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Morris M. Jones
Sept. 26, 1931 — Nov. 7, 2002

Services for Morris M. Jones, 71, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Lonnie Green of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones died Thursday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple.

He was born in Hillsboro and lived in Bryan since 1984. He was retired as funeral director for Hillier Funeral Home. He was also retired from the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of First Sergeant E-8. He served in the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. He was a past member of the Rotary Club, past grand master of the AF&AM Lodge in Killeen and was a charter member of the Optimists Club in Killeen. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Martha J. Jones of Bryan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Roberta Lynn and Ken Wilgus of Killeen, Cynthia Ann Jones, and Donna Louise and Ricci Sieggreen, all of Bryan; a brother-in-law, Gene Armstrong of Blooming Grove; a sister and brother-in-law, Enelda and Kenneth Niles of Waco; his mother, Annie Inez Jones of Waco; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Bryan Rotary Club and the Church of the Nazarene.
