Ethel Hargrove

Ethel Hargrove, 93, of Highlands, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the Highlands House in Highlands. She was born December 5, 1911 in Shepherd to her late parents Benjamin Norris and Sarah Vickery Norris. She lived most of her life in the Highlands-Lynchburg area, joined the First Baptist Church in 1926 and the Primitive Baptist Church in 1943. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the White Cemetery in Highlands under the direction of Sterling-White Chapel Funeral Home in Highlands. She is survived by: Daughter: Shirley Bryant and her husband R.E. of Crosby; Sons: Lloyd Hargrove and his wife LaNell of Highlands and Benny Hargrove and his wife Novella of Minden, Louisiana; 10 Grandchildren; 24 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: Husband: M.W. “Red” Hargrove; Parents: Benjamin Norris and Sarah Vickery Norris; Son: Walker Lee Hargrove and 2 Grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the Sterling-White Chapel Funeral Home in Crosby. Arrangements are under the direction of Sterling-White Chapel Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562, 281-426-3555.

Dorothy Inman Dauzat

Dorothy Inman Dauzat, 62, of Baytown, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005, at a local hospital. Dorothy was born in Houston, Texas on August 23, 1942, to Paul and Omelie Lee Inman. She was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church. Preceded in death by her mother, she is survived by her son, Steven Dauzat and his wife, Kerri, of Baytown; father, Paul Inman and his wife, Sally, of Anahuac; brothers, Lonnie Inman and his wife, Delcina, and Paul L. Inman, of Baytown; sister, Billie Inman, of New Caney; and grandchildren, Ryan and Jacob Dauzat, of Baytown.

Visitation was held Monday at L. A. Crespo Funeral Directors, 6123 Garth Road. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Cedarcrest Cemetery, 3010 Ferry Road, with Pastor Peter Gray, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of L.A. Crespo Funeral Directors, 6123 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX, 281.839.0700.

Robert Edmund Wyatt

Robert Edmund Wyatt, 62, of Baytown passed from this life, surrounded by his loved ones, on Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2005. He was born July 2, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Rev. Charles E. Wyatt and Elizabeth Kitcher Wyatt. He graduated from Sabinal High School in 1961 and attended Howard Payne College, where he met Glenda Rodgers of Highlands. They married on June 20, 1964 and lived most of their married life in Highlands and Baytown.

Robert had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, and in 1973 was ordained a deacon at First Baptist Church of Highlands. At the time of his death, he was an usher/greeter at Second Baptist Church of Baytown, a fitting service for someone who loved people and never met a stranger.

In April 2002, Robert retired from ExxonMobil Refinery in Baytown after 28 years of employment. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, travel, work in his yard, and spend time with his three grandsons (ages 4, 2, and 1). His favorite pastime was buying items at garage sales, repairing them, and reselling them at Winnie Trade Days.

Robert is survived by his wife of 41 years, Glenda Rodgers Wyatt of Baytown; his four children, Robyn Wyatt Hollimon (and husband Scott) of Burleson; Robert (Chuck) Wyatt (and wife Donna) of Prairie Lea; Wendy Wyatt Hesse (and husband Charles) of Tyler; and Wes Wyatt of Memphis, Tennessee. He is also survived by his grandsons, Preston and Ryan Wyatt of Prairie Lea and Christian Hesse of Tyler; his sister, Charlotte Rickenbaker of Chester, Virginia; and his sister-in-law, Lanelle Weatherly of Baytown.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7 at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at Second Baptist Church, 500 E. James, Baytown at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8 with Rev. Tommy Clements and Rev. Tim Edwards officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Pat Henry, David Sharp, Richard Dietrich, Harry Stewart, Leo Cole, and Glenn Schmitt. Interment will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the CVICU unit at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for their efforts and excellent care of Robert during the last month of his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Youth Camp Fund at Second Baptist Church, 500 E. James, Baytown, TX 77521.

Gail Parker

Gail Parker, 66, went to be with her Lord August 3, 2005 with her family by her side. She was a resident of Channelview for the past 24 years and was a former resident of Baytown for over 21 years. She enjoyed drawing and painting. Her family was her life and she loved and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her grandson James Matthew Boyles.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, James Parker of Channelview, TX., 3 children: Sandra Hart of Baytown, TX., Gay Knowles of Baytown, TX. And Tracy Hart of Friendswood, TX., 2 grandsons: B.J. Hart of Baytown and Jason Grothe of Baytown; 2 granddaughters, Shannon Knowles and Kelsey Knowles, 2 great-grandchildren: Tessa Lynn Hart and Shyla Lynn Hart; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

For those desiring Memorials may be given to the American Diabetic Association.

The family received friends Friday August 5, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday August 6, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at Earthman Funeral Home with Brother David Hilton officiating.

Kathern G. Gatewood

Kathern G. Gatewood, 73, of Baytown, TX., died Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Spring Seasons Nursing Home of Vidor. A lifelong resident of Baytown, she was a homemaker. Cremation arrangements were arranged by Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. She is survived by her son Sid Mosher of Baytown, TX., daughter, Precious Steele of Baytown, TX., sisters, Lorrine Courville of Highlands, TX., and Joyce Ashwood of Houston, TX., three grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, but the 23rd Psalms best describes our mother.

Bessie Mae Webb

Bessie Mae Webb, 77, passed away August 3, 2005. She retired from Huffman ISD after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Huffman. She was a very dedicated mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Webb, parents Lee Boney and Bertha Boney, brother Vernon Boney and by her sister Frances Polasek.

She is survived by her children: Jim Lee Webb and wife Emma of Baytown, TX. Gloria Brown and husband Charles of Huffman, TX. And Linda Richardson and husband Dwight of Fairfield, TX.

Brother: Buddy Boney of Woodville, TX; sister: Lois Willingham of Crocket, TX; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 5, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Earthman Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2005 at Earthman Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jordon officiating.

Interment will be at the Huffman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Travis Brown, Clint Richardson, Justin Richardson, Scott Richmond, Christopher Moody and Glenn Askew.

James P. “Jimmy” Johnson

James P. “Jimmy” Johnson, Jr., 68, of Highlands, passed away at a Baytown, TX hospital on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday at Sterling-White Chapel in Highlands. The Rev. Tim Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.

Jimmy was born on January 14, 1937 in Kosse, Texas to parents James P. Johnson Sr. and Sally Norine Kelly. He was a lifetime resident of Highlands and a member of the First Baptist Church of Highlands. He most recently worked as the Transportation Director of the Harris County Precinct 2 Senior Citizens Program. He has also worked as a surveyor, inspector, in Chemical Plants and on an Oil Rig. While he worked very hard, the center of Jimmyís life was his family. He spent many years coaching little league baseball and in later years his favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren play sports.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and son Micah D. Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Billie Faye Johnson of Highlands; daughter, Vicki Mullins and husband Ray of Highlands; sons, Jimmy W. Johnson and wife Darlene of Highlands and Leslie Johnson and wife Rhonda of Highlands and brother Gayle Johnson and wife Sue of The Woodlands. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
