Egipcia Sastre Condon

Following a long convalescence, on Friday morning, November 15th, 2002, Mrs. Egipcia Sastre Condon, passed away unexpectedly, but after hearing her prayers. She had recently enjoyed celebrating her 85th birthday. A mass in her memory will be offered at 9:00 AM on Sunday, December 15th in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station, Texas.
She earned her J.D. from the University of Havana (Cuba), city where she was born and raised. She later married Charles Condon, a WWII Army veteran, who with her at his side enjoyed a fruitful 33-year career as a U.S. diplomat, living in and traveling to several foreign countries.

After several years of retirement in Mexico City, they briefly lived in Omaha, Neb., while their son completed his military service in the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards, they moved to Austin, TX to help their daughter and their two young grandsons, and were instrumental in their happy upbringing and character development.

When her husband suffered a disabling stroke a decade later, she spent the next eight years selflessly caring for him at home. Even after she suffered a stroke herself, her total dedication to his care and well-being never diminished.

Three years after her husband preceded her, she moved to Bryan, TX with her son who cared for her, to help out while he finished his studies at Texas A&M University, and subsequently stayed in Bryan. A debt of immense gratitude is forever owed her.

She will always be greatly loved and lovingly remembered, and she will always, always, be greatly missed.

Descansa en paz, Ma.
