Christopher Wayne Morgan
June 25, 1975 — Nov. 16, 2002

COMPTON, Calif. — Services for Christopher Wayne Morgan, 27, of Compton, Calif., are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Greater Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

The Rev. Mavis D. Morgan of Greater Salem Missionary Baptist Church and Rev. E.E. Garvin of Washington Chapel Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home, with a wake service from 7 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Morgan died Saturtday at St. Frances Hospital in Lynnwood, Calif.

He was born in Dallas and resided in Compton for the past four years. He was a librarian assistant.

He had graduated from Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth and attended the National Educational Center for Accounting in Fort Worth. He was a member of Greater Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Bryan.

Survivors include a brother, David Blair III of Bryan; three sisters, Lillian Morgan of Compton, Calif., and Theresa Hawkins and Latricia Minor, both of Bryan; his mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Will McGill; his father and stepmother, Wayne and Evelyn Hall, all of Bryan; his grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. M.D. Morgan of Bryan; and a host of other relatives.

Memorials may be made to the Greater Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Elizabeth “Libby” Barnett
Oct. 11, 1954 — Nov. 20, 2002

BELTON — Services for Elizabeth “Libby” Barnett, 48, of Belton are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Milano.

Burial will be in the Milano Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Stansell and Rev. Charles Cole of First Baptist Church in Milano will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Ms. Barnett died Wednesday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She was born in Belton and lived in Milano for 23 years. She had graduated from Lexington High School. She was a homemaker and had worked at the Little River Land & Abstract Co. in Cameron and the Belton Wal-Mart.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milano and was active in Milano 4-H. Survivors include her parents, Ray and Barbara Lovorn of Belton; four daughters and four sons-in-law, Christy and Louis Weller, Tiffany and Edward Westbrook and Stacey and Michael Wall, all of Milano, and Kaysie and Gabriel Pizana of Rockdale; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Rene’ Lovorn of Como and Craig Lovorn of Belton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Debbie Copeland of Belton and Kathy and John Dube of Austin; a grandmother, Thelma Rainey of Belton; and six grandchildren.

Helen Laura Tomecek
Jan. 27, 1905 — Nov. 20, 2002

BUFFALO — Services for Helen Laura Tomecek, 97, of Buffalo are set for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Buffalo Funeral Home.

The Rev. Gene Cotner will officiate. Burial will be in the Buffalo City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tomecek died Wednesday at the Buffalo Nursing Home.

Born in Dewitt County, she lived in Leon County most of her life and was a nurse at Rusk State Hospital. Mrs. Tomecek and her husband, Oscar Breiten, owned the first convenience store in Buffalo. She was a member of the Stewart United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Oscar Breiten Jr. and L.E. Tomecek.

Survivors include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

O.B. Robinson Jr.
Aug. 16, 1949 — Nov. 16, 2002

NAVASOTA — Services for O.B. Robinson Jr., 53, of Navasota are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Martinsville Baptist Church in Navasota.

The Rev. C.D. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Stoneham Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home, followed by a wake service from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Robinson died Saturday at his residence.

He was born in Grimes County and was employed as a linesman for Mid-South Energy Co. for 28 years. He had attended George Washington Carver High School. He was a deacon of Mission For Souls Church in Lyons. Survivors include his wife, Linda Fae Robinson of Navasota; three sons, O.B. Robinson III and Kenneth Robinson, both of Navasota, and Kevin Robinson of Willis; a stepson, Robert Sweed of Navasota; two daughters and a son-in-law, Theresa Annette Robinson and Shirley Marie and DeWayne Hubbard, all of Navasota; a sister, Jimmie Marie Chatman of Navasota; his mother, Jessie Lee Robinson of Navasota; and 11 grandchildren.

Ruby Shirley Carr
Sept. 29, 1914 — Nov. 17, 2002

Graveside services for Ruby Shirley Carr, 88, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery in Bryan.

The Rev. Charles Jefferson of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of People’s Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. Carr died Sunday at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston.

She was a lifelong resident of Brazos County.

William H. Zeiss
Nov. 26, 1904 — Nov. 21, 2002

BRENHAM — Services for William H. Zeiss, 97, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham.

The Rev. Cecilia Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Mr. Zeiss died Thursday at his residence.

He was born in Brenham and was a retired service manager of Washington County Ford Motor Company. He had attended Brenham schools and electrical school in Illinois.

Mr. Zeiss was a member of the 56th Brenham Cavalary Unit of the Texas National Guard and served on active duty in January 1922, when Gov. Pat Neff declared martial law in Mexia. He was a member of First Baptist Church and attended St. Peter’s Episoopaal Church in Brenhem. He was a life member of the Brenham Elks, where he was a past exalted ruler. He was also a member of Sons of Confedrate Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Maye Whitmore Zeiss, and his second wife, Dorothy Hughes Roberts Zeiss.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Patsy Zeiss of Tyler and, Owen H. and Joan Zeiss of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Wilfred Kuecker of Brenham; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham or your favorite charity.

Alma Forsthoff Chenault
May 26, 1937 — Nov. 21, 2002

NAVASOTA — Services for Alma Forsthoff Chenault, 65, formerly of Millican are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wellborn Baptist Church.

Bro. John Boyle of the Wellborn Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Wheat Cemetery in Millican.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

Mrs. Chenault died Thursday at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan.

She was born in Grimes County and was a retired postmaster. She was a member of the Wellborn Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lloyd Chenault.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Olen and Ann Lipscomb Chenault of Carbondale, Colo., and Billy L. Jr. and Patty Chenault of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Larry Wisnoski of Millican; three sisters-in-law, Celeste Forsthoff of Arizona, Helen Chenault of Chapin, Fla., and Evelyn Chenault Clegg of Zavalla; a sister and two brothers-in-law, Gertrude Thane and Bill Adams of Splendora and Bud Hansing of Arizona; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Wellborn Baptist Church.

Annie Mae Foster
Dec. 11, 1910 — Nov. 19, 2002

CALVERT — Services for Annie Mae Foster, 91, of Calvert are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Independent Baptist Church in Calvert.

Burial will be in Beauty Rest Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home in Marlin.

Mrs. Foster died Tuesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Calvert.

John Westbrook
April 9, 1918 — Nov. 21, 2002

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for John Westbrook, 84, of Fairfield and formerly of Rockdale are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Bill Whaley of the Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale and the Revs. Jim Pritchard and James Pritchard will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Westbrook died Thursday at the Fairway Health Care Residence in Fairfield.

He was born in Milano and lived in Fairfield since 1999. He worked 40 years as an auto parts salesman for the Gaither Ford dealership in Rockdale, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Murray Street Church of Christ and was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Westbrook of Fairfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Eileen Westbrook of Missouri City; a daughter, Carolyn Varley of Fairfield; a brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Carrie Mae Westbrook of Austin; a sister, Alma Roland of Baytown; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
