Lowell Lester Norris

May 28, 1926 — April 10, 2002

Graveside services for Lowell Lester Norris, 75, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Bright Light Cemetery. Deacon Alvin Halbrook will officiate.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bright Light Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Herbert Richards will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.

Mr. Norris died Wednesday at his home.

He was born in Onalaska, Texas, and was a member of the Bright Light Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Jim “Jimmy” Norris of College Station; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim Lester and Cheryl Norris of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Jeffrey Lowell Norris of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Norris Boren and Jody Boren of College Station; a sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Hendrix Harper of College Station; seven grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

Memorials may be made to Bright Light Free Will Baptist Church, 11200 Hwy. 30, College Station, 77845.

William “Bill” Vance

Dec. 10, 1926 — April 9, 2002

SNOOK — A private family service for William “Bill” Vance, 75, of Snook will be held at a later date in Conesville, Iowa.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Vance died Tuesday at his home.

He was born in Muscatine, Iowa, and lived in Snook since 1982. He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Robert H. Scholer Post #2111 in Chula Vista, Calif., and worked in the military properties division of Texas A&M University prior to his retirement in 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Starr of Snook; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Ralph Manley of Muscatine; two nephews and four nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 205 E. 29th St., Bryan, Texas 77803.

James Richardson

Jan. 4, 1956 — April 6, 2002

NAVASOTA — Services for James Richardson, 46, of Navasota are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Missionary Camp Baptist Church in Navasota.

The Rev. James Mable Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the McDonald Cemetery in Navasota.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mr. Richardson died Saturday at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston.

He was born in Brazos County and was a laborer.

Survivors include a son, Christopher “Monk” Steptoe of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, LaTosha and Terrell Davis of College Station; three brothers, Bennie Richardson of Angleton, Texas, Billy Kevin Richardson of Newport News, Va., and Clide Richardson of Navasota; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joe Ann and Alvin Fillio of Bryan and Linda and Bobby Matthews of Navasota; his mother and stepfather, Addie B. Richardson and C.C. Woods of College Station; a grandmother, Lizzie Harris Richardson of College Station; and four grandchildren.

Willie James Ausby

Nov. 26, 1960 — April 7, 2002

NAVASOTA — Services for Willie James Ausby, 41, of Navasota are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem House of Blessing.

The Rev. Charles Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Roans Prairie.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota. The wake will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ausby died Sunday.

He was born in Grimes County.

Survivors include two sons, Detrayvion Ausby of Navasota and Rashad Branch of Houston; two daughters, Ka’Tyna Ausby of Navasota and Eunisa Ausby of Hempstead; two brothers, Alvin Ausby of Navasota and John Ausby of Beaumont; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ella Jean and Kedrick East and Mae and Lymus Creeks, all of Navasota, and Cwiller and John Spells and Vernetta Jefferson, all of Houston; his parents, Albert and Eunice Ausby of Navasota; and a grandchild.

Andrew Leroy Webber

June 1, 1935 — April 6, 2002

Services for Andrew Leroy Webber, 66, of Bryan are set for noon Saturday at Sweet Zion Baptist Church in Madisonville. Burial will be in the High Prairie Cemetery in Normngee.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Mr. Webber died Saturday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Madisonville.

Bellville ‘Bev’ Rhea Allen Mason

May 25, 1934 — April 6, 2002

SPRING — Services for Bellville “Bev” Rhea Allen Mason, 67, of Spring, Texas, and formerly of Irving, were held Wednesday in Irving.

Donnelly’s Colonial Chapel in Irving was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mason died Saturday.

He was born in Dunleary, Ky. He graduated from Keokee High School in Keokee, Va., and attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was an active member of American Legion Post 0615. He retired from Braniff International Airways after 29 years of service as an agent.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Neese Mason of Spring; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Charlotte Mason of Irving, Sharon and Phil Taylor of Coppell, Texas, and Sheila and Patrick Walker of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Dee Deggs of Plano; three sisters, Anna Pinson of Vacaville, Calif., Virginia Ritter of Farragut, Tenn., and Evelyn Paris of Knoxville, Tenn.; a former wife, Shirley Mason of Irving; and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memeorials may be made to the Keokee School Fund, c/o Jim Parson, Rt. 4, Box 380, Jonesille, Va. 24263.

William O. “Bill” Cawley Sr.

Dec. 15, 1929 — April 10, 2002

Services for William O. “Bill” Cawley Sr., 72, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Dr. Malcolm Bane and the Rev. David Rowland of First Baptist Church in College Station will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Cawley died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Bryan. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving the U.S. Air Force and later retiring from the Army Reserves as a colonel. He retired from the Extension Poultry Department at Texas A&M University after 30 years.

Mr. Cawley obtained his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in poultry science from Texas A&M, graduating in 1953. He was a life member of the American Poultry Association and American Bantam Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church in College Station.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cawley of Bryan; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rusty and Rusty Cawley of Rockwall, Eddie Cawley of Asheville, N.C., and Jimmy and Kerri Cawley of Bryan; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o Leukemia Cancer.

Lowell Emmitt Jackson

July 8, 1929 — April 6, 2002

HEARNE — Services for Lowell Emmitt Jackson, 72, of Hearne are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the New Elam Baptist Church.

The Rev. O.W. Mack will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Hearne.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Robertson Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Jackson died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Gonzales, Texas. He attended school in Gonzales and graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He served in the U.S. armed forces.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Bernice Jackson of Hearne; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley Emmitt and Beatrice Jackson and Anthony Edward Jackson, all of Hearne; a daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor Bernice Jackson and Lupe Gonzales of Hearne; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Timmie Jr. and Viola Backer of College Station and Willie C. Tow; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jackson and Doris Blassingill, both of Houston; and seven grandchildren.

Ola Odessia Williams Ford

Sept. 28, 1916 — April 11, 2002

Services for Ola Odessia Williams Ford, 85, of Hearne are set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Terry Holden of the Flynn Assembly of God Church will officiate. Burial will be in New Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ford died Thursday in Houston.

She was born in Macey, Texas, and was a retired nurse and homemaker. She was a member of the Flynn Assembly of God Church and Women’s Ministries.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Earl Ford.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Vincent Dufour of Macey and Fae and Jerry Laird of Tomball, Texas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
