Alfred Scott Hunter

Alfred Scott Hunter, 75, of Houston, Texas passed away May 17, 2010, at his daughter’s home, after a lengthy illness. He was born on January 30, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Claire and Alfred Hunter. He began his sales career with Burroughs in Kalamazoo, Michigan in the early 1960’s. Scott transferred to Houston, Texas in 1968 to work with the W.W. Cannon Company. In 1992, he started Hunter Services which
employed both his sons for several years.

Alfred is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Claire Chape, and his beloved wife, Dena Hunter. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Beason and husband David of Houston; son, Steven W. Hunter and his wife Lynanne of Cibolo, Texas; son Michael S. Hunter and his wife Jenilyn of Converse, Texas; and sister Joanne St. Clair and her husband Robert of Battle Creek, Michigan. He has ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

The family gives special thanks to his niece, Deanna Hunter, for the kindness and care she gave to her Uncle Scott during these last few weeks.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm Thursday, May 20th, and the service celebrating Mr. Hunter’s life will be at 11:00am Friday, May 21st, all held at Niday Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local SPCA for the love of all precious pets.

Zarian Andre Wood

HM3 Zarian Andre Wood, USN, of Houston, died in the line of duty Sunday, May 16, 2010, serving his country in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. Zarian is preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Sue Wood and is survived by a loving family; his father, Daniel Wood; three brothers, Zachary Wood, Victor Robertson, and Micah Dixon; two sisters, Krista Hamilton, and Teresa Robertson; his fiancé, Carolina Gonzalez; niece, Stevie Mallory; nephews, LCPL Chad Robertson, Nicholas Robertson, and Blake Hamilton; and many extended family members and brother corpsmen family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday, May 23rd, at Niday Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating Zarian’s life will be held at 10:00am Monday, May 24th, in the chapel of Niday Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery.

Wanna Jean Smith

Wanna Jean Smith, 85, of Elkins Lake in Huntsville, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, William K. Smith; and is survived by her children; James Reid Sharpless, Susan Marie Pennock, and Janice Kay Smith; her sister, Marie Wettersten; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 17, 2010, at 11:30am, at Forest Park-Lawndale Cemetery, in Houston.

Gregorio C. Barron

Gregorio Coronel Barron, a resident of Houston, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the age of 84 years. Gregorio was born March 12, 1926 in Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico to the late Atilano and Adelaida Coronel Barron.

Gregorio is survived by a loving family, including his wife, Ana Rodriguez Barron.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, May 14, 2010, at Niday Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 7539 Ave. K @ 76th St., with Fr. Ramiro R. Cortez, O.M.I. celebrating. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Wynona Patricia “Tricky” Murphy

On Saturday afternoon, July 24, 2010, Wynona Patricia “Tricky” Thompson Murphy entered into her eternal reward at the age of 74. Her life was an example to all of how to live as a Proverbs 31 woman. She was born July 12, 1936 in New Kirk, Oklahoma to the late Earl and Beulah Thompson. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Carlos “Scoots” Murphy.

Pat is survived by her children, David Murphy and wife Peggy, Tim Murphy and wife Judy, Steven Murphy and wife Brenda, James Murphy and wife Alicia, and Tiffany Murphy Sheldt and husband Lee; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

We, her children, are honored by the great legacy that has been given. Although we grieve our loss, we take such comfort in knowing that not only is she with her Lord and Savior, but that both of our parents now walk hand in hand down streets of gold.; no longer hindered by diseased and broken bodies. Praise God, they have been made whole!

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 27th, from 5:00am until 8:00pm at Niday Funeral Home. The service celebrating Pat’s life will be Wednesday, July 28th, at 10:00am at Christian Temple Church, 9701 Almeda-Genoa in Houston. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

Antonio G. Martinez

Antonio G. Martinez passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the age of 84 years. A native of Mexico, Antonio was a former resident of Deer Park and he retired from the City of Houston.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Niday Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in the chapel of Niday Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, in Webster.

Mildred F. Campbell

Mildred F. Campbell, 84, died Wednesday, July 15, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. She was a South Belt resident.

Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ray Campbell. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Angelle, granddaughter Stacey Martinez and niece Charlotte Floyd along with two great –grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Niday Funeral Home on July 21, 2010. Mrs. Campbell was laid to rest with her husband at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on July 22, 2010.

Carmen Gonzalez Santamaria Ambro

Carmen Gonzalez Santamaria Ambro, a resident of Pearland, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 69 on Monday, July 12, 2010, with her family by her side.

Carmen was born February 1, 1941, in Rota, Spain. In 1969 she married a handsome American naval officer who was stationed in her hometown, her loving husband of 41 years, David Ambro. After living in Spain, Iceland, Virginia, Illinois and Pennsylvania, they finally settled in the Houston area. They spent the last 29 years of her life there raising their family with frequent trips to see her loved ones in Spain.

Carmen’s life revolved around her family, and she was never happier than when surrounded by them. Despite numerous health issues, she actively lived out her Catholic faith in selfless service to those that she loved.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents Antonio Gonzalez Sanchez and Vicenta Santamaria Gomez de Lara and siblings Antonio, Rosario, and Vicenta Gonzalez Santamaria, all of Rota, Spain.

Carmen is survived by her husband; her children Paul Ambro and his wife Kimberly, Michael Ambro and his fiancée Laura Brenner, and Lisa Ambro, all of Pearland; her grandchildren Emma, Isaac and Elena Ambro; her siblings Manuel, Juan, and Manuela Gonzalez Santamaria; numerous other relatives in Spain and countless friends near and far.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Niday Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 16, 2010, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father James Burkart officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.

Raphael Rosario

Rafael Rosario, a resident of the South Belt Area, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the age of 77 years. Rafael was born February 15, 1933 in Puerto Rico to the late Rafael Francisco and Graciela Orabona Rosario.

Rafael retired from the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Sari (Alfonso) Rosario; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 12, 2010, at Niday Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in the Chapel of Niday Funeral Home, with Rev. Rex Forsyth officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

Carl Edward Hallmark

Carl Edward Hallmark, a resident of Houston, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the age of 62 years. Carl was born August 1, 1947 to the late Kenneth and Helen (Sopchak) Hallmark.

Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

A memorial service celebrating Carl’s life will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, July 12, 2010, in the chapel of Niday Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Cole officiating.

Carlota T. Rivera

Carlota Tamayo Rivera, 90, went to be with our Lord July 8, 2010. Carlota is preceded in death by: parents Margarito and Guadalupe Tamayo, husband David Rivera Sr., son David Rivera Jr., daughter Susan R. Cantu (Arnoldo), and grandson Marcos Zavala Jr.

She is survived by: daughters Guadalupe R. Camarena (Juan), Frances R. Hernandez (Louis), Lydia R. Vega (Roberto), Ramona R. Zavala (Marcos) and Carmen R. Peña (Jose), and son Margarito Rivera Sr.

Carlota leaves behind 30 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson and many nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 11th, from 4:00pm-8:00pm, and Monday, July 12th, from 10:00am-2:00pm at Niday Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Monday from 4:00pm-8:00pm at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, with a Rosary starting at 7:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 13th, at 10:30am also at St. Luke’s. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale.

Stephen Carl Collins

Stephen Carl Collins passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the age of 64 years.

Stephen was born October 18, 1945 in Freer, Texas to the late Carl Franklin and Pearl Alice (Upton) Collins.

Linda M. Warner

Linda Maudene Warner, a resident of Alvin, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the age of 60 years. Linda was born November 20, 1949 in Hondo, Texas to the late George O. and Lucille Justice Warner.

Funeral services celebrating Linda’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 10, 2010, in the chapel of Niday Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Cole officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Hau Dinh Vu

Hau Dinh Vu passed away Friday, July 2, 2010 at the age of 38 years. Hau was born March 10, 1972 in Vietnam to Cung Vu and Huong Hoang.

Hau is survived by his wife, Donna Ngoc Tran; three children, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

A Vigil Mass will be offered at 6:00 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 and Friday, July 9, 2010, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Niday Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:00 AM Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

Noah Christoph Heinicken

Noah Christoph Heinicken, a lifetime resident of the South Belt area passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 23rd, 2010 at the age of 25.

Noah was born on December 27th, 1984 at 1:30 pm in Houston, Texas. He later in life attended Dobie High School, class of 2003 and was employed by AAA as a service technician.

He leaves behind his parents Rick & Debbie Heinicken, brother, Quad, sister, Casey,

Grandfather Fred Heinicken and wife Julia, and Fiance Brittany Snedeker, all of Houston, Texas.

Noah valued spending time with his friends and left behind a band of “brothers”, who he had grown up with. Some of Noah’s biggest passions in life included music, cooking, dirt bikes, his dog, Bohdi and the anticipated arrival of his daughter Paisleigh Rae.

Niday Funeral Home will be handling all arrangements and any questions regarding the service and burial can be answered at (281) 464-7200.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 27th, 2010 from 6pm-8pm at Niday Funeral Home located at 12440 Beamer Road Houston, Texas 77089.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations be made at Bank of America. The account will be set In Memoriam of Noah.

Joe Pete Grizzaffi

Joe Pete Grizzaffi, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the age of 82 years. Joe was born October 22, 1927 in Houston.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose, and his brothers, Luke, Anthony, Bennie, Johnnie, Vincent, and Sam. Surviving Joe are; his wife of 62 years, Bernadine Tallerine Grizzaffi; his children, Frank Grizzaffi and wife, Kathy, Kathy Campise and husband Charles, and Susan Towey and husband James; grandchildren, Jeff, Greg, and Katie Grizzaffi, Christopher, Joe, Ryan, and Valerie Campise, and Jennifer and Daniel Towey; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Angelina Joslin; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Niday Funeral Home, where a vigil will be offered at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Monday, August 30, 2010, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Road, in Houston. Rite of committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are; Jeff and Greg Grizzaffi, Chris, Joe, and Ryan Campise, and Daniel Towey.

Linda Mae Ramber McLean

Linda was born on January 6, 1952 in Galveston County. She passed away Thursday, August 19th 2010. Her husband James G. McLean, her mother Irene M. Ramber, Brothers Neal Ramber, Eddie Ramber, Sister Betty Ramber, Sister-in-law Denna Ramber, and Niece Stacie Ramber, preceded her in death.

She was survived by her Father Henry Ramber, Son Ronald Clayton Toups Jr., Daughter Cindy A. Myers, Stepson Gerald McLean, Grandchildren Jordyn Payne, Trace Toups, Mason Myers and Tristan Toups. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends that loved her dearly.

Linda was a wonderful and caring mother and loved her grandchildren with all of her heart. They were her pride and joy. She took great appreciation in showing them off.

She loved playing Texas Hold’em, the outdoor life and shopping. Linda was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Memorial Services celebrating Linda’s life will be held Friday, August 27th at 10:00 am in the chapel of Niday Funeral Home with Brother Tommy Custer. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland. Where she will be placed by her soul mate and love of her life James G. McLean.

In lieu of flowers donations may be accepted at BBVA Compass Bank under Cindy Myers-Benefit for Linda McLean.
